what is ev train how to ev train in platinum and white

What? Eevee? Oh, the EVs. EVs are the growth numbers that determine how your PKMN grows as it levels up. It decideds whether your Samurott gets +4 attack when it levels up, or +2.

Never really cared for all that myself...

EV Training is killing specfic pokemon for extra stat points.

Every pokemon gives EVs. Type and number of Evs vary by pokemon.

4 of the same EVs equal 1 extra stat point.

The maxium EVs a pokemon can get is 510

Each stat can only hold 252 EVs.

252 evs equal 63 stat points. So you can have like 252 in speed 252 in attack so it can have 63 extra points in speed and attack. And have 6 EV points. left. So thats one more stat point for something thats not attack or speed. and 2 points that are completly useless

There are EV boosting items in the games. The power items will give you four extra EVs every pokemon defeated for whatever that item boosts. So if you have a power item for HP, and you kill a bidoof, you would get one hp point from the bidoof and 4 more from the item which equals 5 hp. But if you kill a starly ( 1 attack ev ) you will get 1 atack ev from the Starly and 4 hp evs from the hp boosting item.

There is a stat boosting item for the 5 stats and HP.

The vitamins ( protein carbos etc ) gives 10 EVs of the stat the vitamin boosts. Vitamins can only give a maxium of 100 EVs in that stat. If the pokemon already has say 60 speed evs. You can only give that pokemon 4 more carbos. If a pokemon has say 152 EVs in speed and it has not been given and vitamins it cannot be given more carbos because its EVs in speed already surpassed 100.

The item macho brace gives double EVs. If you kill a starly you get 1 attack ev. But if kill it with macho brace it is doubled. 1X2= 2 attack evs from the straly.

There are berries that can get rid of EVs.

Best to ev train the second you catch the pokemon you want and that pokemon has the right nature. DO NOT EV TRAIN AT LVL AT 100. If you got to lvl hundred fairly, odds are the EVs are maxed. BUt if you cheated. EV training at lvl 100 is a pain in the ass.
