'- Does that mean you’ll be decreasing the number of cutscenes?

Nomura: Not meaning that we’ve decreased the number of cutscenes, but having each one explained one by one reduces the tempo of the game, so we’re introducing a new system to make up for it. It’s a directionally different system like what’s being introduced in Final Fantasy Versus XIII which won’t have cutscenes; it’ll be a sort of integration where you can play during the event scene. Along with that, Sora will fight alongside different friends. There’s also a secret movie being prepared, so please look forward to it.'

This sounds iffy to me... im hoping it doesnt ruin the mood that the series has set concerning cutscenes and events. It sounds a little too much like an MMO situation where NPC's talk as you move around. it also creates a faster pace. I enjoy the current mood and tempo of the series, i hope this doesnt change too radically.

Sounds awesome to me. Playable cutscenes? What's wrong with that?

Well i have no idea what the system is that they have in mind so i cant say yet.....but having the ability to walk away from someone as they say/do something important to the story doesnt sound fun....plus i love dramatic camera angles.

When I hear "playable cutscenes" I think back to Soul Calibur 3, wasn't too fond of it. <xD; But who knows, I'll wait until a trailer shows what exactly Nomura was talking about before I give my full opinion. *crosses fingers and hopes to god I don't spoil the game like with BbS.* XwX

i did that too :( but yeah i guess we'll have to wait and see.

Just had a thought that i could be misinterpreting 'playable cutscene' my friend reminded me of a few games that have action moments where you press buttons and junk. Heavy Rain is a good example since that game is one giant interactive cut scene.

If there's nothing wrong with the formula, don't change it I always say. At first I was thinking of something like inFamous and Uncharted, but I doubt it.

Well, first of all, I'm pretty sure they'll still have camera angles and such. And I doubt that this means just walking around when people talk. More likely you're going to be given control of the cinematic sequences, so maybe it'll be like an expansion on action commands, or you'll be given a goal to accomplish during the cutscene. Keep in mind that there are still regular cutscenes present, so that means this system doesn't work with every cutscene.
