I'm actually posting an intelligent question...

Posted

...No and I were talking about something somewhat intelligent for once, and I thought that I would throw it out to all of you geniuses out there.

Do you think that it's better, worse, or the same to like someone because of something they can't control (like race, etc.) rather than dislike them?

i think that it's rude either way because they're singling them out.

So what do you think?

Well that is an intelligent question. I would say better because they can't control it. You can just tell someone to stop something that they have no power of. It's like going up to a mentally challenged person and saying, "Stop being awesome" or going up to a Caucasian and saying, "Stop being white" (which by the way, I am white but just using a white person as an example).

I have a friend who has Tourettes but he is one of my best friends. He usually makes like these throat noises and makes lots of head movements. But he is still fine to talk to, hang out with, and all that stuff. He is basically a normal person. I don't see why anyone should dislike him. But I do question him sometimes when he makes really weird thoat noises, I usually say "What the hell was that?" and then we both would laugh. And he can't control it.

No one should dislike anyone because of what they can't control.

Well, the way people are....there are a lot of people who are shunned because of color of their skin. Do you think they want to be made fun of? Do you think they want to know that there are people out there who hate him and call him offensive names...even though they don't know him. I have no problem with someone of a different race, but you have to be careful with being friends with someone of another race...because if you get mad at that person, you might as well get "Racist" tattooed to your forehead.

i think people worry too much about racism. like zexion said, if you say get angry at someone with another colour skin, they'll call you a racist

in a way it makes the whole world racist, the people that single people out for their skin, the people who get worked up if someone says a 'racist' comment to them, and the people that tell other people off for being annoyed

i always thought, why skin? it could just have easily been hair colour, your eye colour, but nobody insults people for that?
