Name: Thom Stone.

Bio: Thom was the son of a Ex-Special Forces turned Cop and a high school math teacher. His father taught Thom how to defend himself and others in nearly in situation. During a visit with his family to an old temple from a couple thousand years back, Thom found a room with glowing runes in it. The runes seemed to be moving around in a pattern, and that pattern was speeding up. Though magic was rare then, Thom knew what the runes meant: Something bad. He quickly yelled for everyone to exit the temple. As he ushered the last tourists out, a magic blast over took him and he blacked out. When he awoke, he found himself on the edge of of the now island floating in air. He also found that he had changed. He had blue skin, horns, and more. He later found out he turned that way because of the magical energy. Several other people had mutated where he was and many others were reported around the world. Thom, while trying to figure out what had happened, accidentally threw a Lightning bolt from his hand to a tree. His mother, a scientist at heart, encouraged him to practice. He do so, finding he could do more and more things through magic. Many others also showed ability to use magic. Thom knew he had to do something with this, but what?

Airra weakly smiled. "Sure. Anything to get away from here." Airra said as she laughed. She passed by the lab to see her dad caught up in his work. "Alright lets go." She said as she opened the door.

Thom nodded and headed out the door. It would be nice to have someone around. Now, what to do?

"First we need to stop by my house to get some of my notes to figure out the next move." He said.

He glanced at the front door and added in a low tone,

"There are also some extra weapons in the basement, if you want one on this little trek."

Airra smiled. "Thats alright, i only used my forged weapons. They have my magic in them." Airra said. She sighed and kept walking. "How far is your house from here?" Airra asked hoping he wouldnt ask about her having magic and all.

"Not far." Thom answered. "Just a couple of blocks."

Thom considered asking Airra about her magic, but remembered what Dr Silver had said about her refusing to let him see her magic. That was a question that would have to wait awhile. Thom walked on in silence. In a short time, he turned into the driveway of a medium sized house with yellow aluminum siding. Pulling a key from his pocket, he walked to the door and unlocked it. Swinging the door wide, Thom stepped back and gestured for Airra to go in first with both arms.

"Welcome to my humble abode." He said, with the mock stiffness of a butler.

Airra looked at Thom and smiled. She nodded and went in. It didnt look like her house at all, her house was usually filthy full of her dads junk. She looked around then back at Thom. She held her arm over a marking she had.

Thom went in, pulling the door closed behind him. He walked into a living room area and went for a locked desk. Unlocking it with one of the keys on his keyring. He rummaged a little, then pulled out a map. He took the map to a large dinning table and spreed it out. He waved Airra over and went on to study the map.

The map was off the surrounding area. There were several marks on the map, some denoting odd sightings, others pointing out dangerous areas.

"Anything catch your eye?" Thom asked Airra.

Airra looked at the map for several minutes. She scoffed. "Wow, i dont know." Airra said. She looked at the map aqain and then pointed out a location. "What about that one, looks interestinq." Airra said as she had her finqer on a little picture of a skyscraper.

Thom noted the location and symbol, and referenced his notes.

"Okay, that iiiiis...." he said as he flipped through a notebook. "An old MDD office building."

The Magic Detection Division (MDD) was a government agency meant to track down magic users and get them to the Magic Academy, where they would be trained.

"It was shut down like right after the Blast."

Thom's brow furrowed.

"According to some of my notes, there might be some old equipment and files there."

Thom nodded with a satisfied look.

"I'd say that's a good place to check out."

Thom stopped a moment, remembering Airra's brother.

"Is this going to okay for you?"

Airra thought for a moment. She exhaled loudly and answered, "Yeah its fine.. dont worry about me. As long as im away from my dad ill be fine." She managed to push out a fake smile. "So when we gonna go?" Airra asked smiling.

Thom nodded and looked at the map.

"I'd say we can leave right away." He said. "It's couple of miles away, so we might need to look into alternate transportation opinions."

Thom walked over to a book shelf and pulled out a pocket atlas of the area. He moved back to the map and marked the destination. He returned the note books and big map to the desk and relocked it. He turned to Airra and smiled.

"Alright. Looks like we're set."

"Okay then. " she said as she smiled.

"Lets get moving." She said as she then thought about what he had asked her earlier.

("He asked me because of Asher i suppose.") She thought as she sighed. She then saw an image of him in her head, he was overcome by magic, he had no hope of being human again. Airra sighed.

("Is that whats going to happen to me if i encounter to much magic?") She thought to herself.

"One minute." Thom said.

Thom quickly ran to the kitchen and packed some protein bars and two big water bottles in a back pack. He slung it across his back. He stopped at a closet and opened it. In it were several firearms and ammo. Thom grabbed a fresh clip for his Glock and another extra clip. Closing the closet, he walked to the door and waited for Airra to go out. After she was out, he stepped out and locked the door behind him. Standing on the porch, Thom took a deep breath.

"Okay, we could walk, but that would leave us to tried for the search of the building." He said. "I know a guy with some mounts we could barrow, if you can ride. There are also some bicycles in the shed, if you would prefer that."

"The mounts will be fine." Airra said with a smile.

"But first, i need to get something from home." She said as she sighed.

"Do you mind?" She asked kindly with a big smile.

(Without my kitana or bracelet i wouldnt be able to fight, i should have been prepared!) Airra thought.

Thom caught Airra's smile and mirrored it.

"No that's fine." he said. "It'll take Max a minute or two to get the mounts ready, anyway."

He thought a moment.

"You gonna need a hand with this?" He asked.

"No ill be fine. Ill be back in couple!" She said as she waved and ran off. She arrived at her door and opened it. Her father was gone she sighed in relief.

"Good! Makes this easier." She said as she walked into the lab and then into the vault.

"Hmm.. lets see here." Airra said as she picked out two kitanas.

"There." She said as she stuffed them into their cases and tied them to her waist. She then went to her room and grabbed some wrist cuffs.

Thom walked over to Max's house, a local man who had made a pretty penny lately with his alternate transport business. Thom had done Max a few favors over the past few years, before and after the Blast, so getting mounts wasn't a problem. Thom picked out two horses that Max had said where solid and were of a magical resistant breed. Thom wasn't to worry about them mutating since no new mutations had popped up since the blast, but he and Airra were going to a possible place of strong magic. Always helpful to be careful. He led the two horses, both fully equipped, back to his house to wait for Airra.

"I guess Thom wont need one since he already changed due to magic." Airra said as she put the cuffs on and headed out. She walked back to Thoms house hoping he hadbt been waiting long. When she arrived he was already waiting.

"Sorry." Airra managed to say.

"Not a problem." Thom assured Airra. "I hadn't been waiting long."

Thom noticed her katanas at her waist. He was a little worried about her father's reaction to this, but decided to push this from his mind. This was her decision. She had it handled.

Thom untied the reins of one of the horses and offered them, to Airra.

"This is Marry Gold. She's pretty good tempered and can't be spooked by anything."

Airra nodded.

"Alright then" she said as she hopped on the horse.

"Ready?" She asked. She looked at the cuffs on her wrist then at Thom.

Thom got up on his horse and started toward the MDD building at a slow pace to get horses and riders use to each other.

Thom noticed the cuffs Airra had brought. He could tell through his connection to magic, these cuffs gave some sort of protection to magical energy.

"Good idea." Thom said, nodding toward the cuffs. "I've grown a natural resistance to the mutation effects of too much, unbridled magic."

He stopped speaking a moment as he ran a finger along one of his horns.

"Among other things. But if you don't want to look like a extra from a monster movie, those cuffs should give you some protection."

Airra nodded. She looked at him.

(He looks like Asher, but less feirce and scarier.) she thought.

(I feel bad for Thom..) she thought as she looked aaay from him and put on her hood.

Thom saw Airra look away. He felt a little angry at that, but calmed himself down. He didn't know enough about what had happened to her brother to know how badly Thom's appearance effected her. Pushing this from his mind, he began to up the pace of the horses. He did this slowly, to make sure Airra could keep up. She seemed to be handling the horse well. As the were about half a mile from town, Thom stopped. He dropped from his horse and sniffed the air. He placed a hand on the ground and looked one way, then the other.

"Get into that clump of trees." Thom ordered over his should to Airra.

Thom stood up and led started to lead his horse to the spot he had indicated.

"We've got a bull Drake somewhere around here. They weren't real friendly before the blast and after, they've gotten worse. If we hid in the trees till it passes, we should be good."

Airra looked at Thom.

"Uhh altight then." She said as she headed behind the trees.

("If only Asher were still here. He'd help us all. After all, everybody enyed his strength, even i.") She thought as she sighed then crouched down behind the bushes.

"So just wait 'till this thing passes, right?" She asked.

Thom was about to answer when a large creature bounded onto the road. It looked like a cross between an alligator and a lion. It looked around. Thom slow brought a finger to his lips, as his other hand came to rest on his sword hilt. The drake looked around for some new prey to kill. Luckily, its poor eye sight made it easy to avoid, if one stayed still.

One of the horses stumped and neighed softly. The drake froze and stuck out its tongue in a reptilian manner.

Airra eyes widened.

(Whats wrong with this thing?!) She thought to herself. She looked at Thom then tried to stay still. She didnt know whether to fight or to stay put, she waited for Thoms orders so she quietly slumped down into the bushes. She then heard a faint whistle in her ear drum.

(Whats that?) She thought as she looked behind her saw a hooded figure in the distance.

(What the heck is that?!) She thought as she saw it walking slowly towards them.
