"Just give it a few more seconds." Sarmen replied. "Let them get some more distance before we make a run for it."

Though he hated to admit it, he felt better now. There was an enemy actively hunting him. He knew how to deal with that better then the whole l'Cie and Guardian stuff.

"Alright, let's move."

He broke cover and ran, going the opposite way the patrol had gone, bearing a little to the left. That would take him and Airra off course for the town he was aiming for, but they could fix that later.

Airra dashed quickly behind Sarmen looking back occassionaly to see any enemies.

There's so many things running throughout my head, the Guardian stuff, Raines, the others and our l'cie focus. That reminds me, I never asked Sarmen if he had remembered his focus. Ill ask him when all of this is over.. Airra thought as she lowered her wings to mae sure she wouldn't attract anyone.

Sarmen kept up a sprint for a few minutes before calling a halt.

"Quick water break." he explained. "Then we need to head towards that town nearby."

He took off his helmet and took a swig of water from a canteen on his belt. He offered the canteen to Airra.

"I forgot to get you one of your own. If you already have one, good. If not, we can still work fine off of one."

He glanced back the way they had come. He detected any sign of pursuit.

"If you can think of a better place to hide and get answers instead of or after we reach the town, don't hesitate to speak up. Heck knows I don't have the first idea of what to do when we reach the town."

Airra watched Sarmen stop for a little.

"I'm good thank you." She rejected his offer and flexed her wings. Airra though about what Sarmen had said and shrugged.

"I don't know any hiding places. Wait, are we in Palumpolum?" Airra asked quickly as she looked around.

Sarmen furrowed his brow as he tried to remember the area they were in.

"Yes." he said at last."Reasonably close, anyway. It might take us an hour or two to hike there, but not too bad."

He gave Airra a questioning look as he replaced the canteen on his belt.

"You from Palumpolum?" He asked.

Airra felt relaxed as soon as it was confirmed this was indeed Palumpolum. She looked around quickly and sighed with relief.

"when I was a kid me and Hope used to live up there," she said as she Pointed to the heart of Palumpolum.

"We would always hide where no one would find us in the pipes that lead to the fal'cie. But if Hope and the others side with Raines there will be a definite chance he will lead Raines there." Airra said as she sighed and closed her eyes trying to remember a safer place. Her eyes jolted open.

"we could also go to my brothers house. We will be most definatly safe there."

Sarmen considered the plan a moment. There were dangers to it. Hope might know where Airra's brother lived. Of course, the kid might say nothing about this to Raines. It all depended on how much the other l'Cie believed whatever story Raines told them. Even with the risks, Sarmen felt it was the best plan since he had none himself.

"Okay, let's make for your brother's house." Sarmen said with a nod.

He replaced his helmet on his head and locked into place.

"Since you know your brother, I suggest you come up with a cover story in case we are discovered."

Sarmen considered the landscape.

"I think I can get us to Palumpolum city, but you'll have to take over navigation from there."

Airra nodded and the two started walking.

knowing my brother he'll do whatever he can to keep Sarmen and I safe. He has always been good at magic so he'll come up with something. I just hope he isn't mad. Airra thought as she followed behind Sarmen. She was excited to be back at home but somehow this go around she felt more scared than ever after her encounter with Raines.

Sarmen kept up a steady pace to Palumpolum, which, much to his surprise and liking, was closer then he originally thought. With short breaks, the two l'Cie reached the city 30 to 40 minutes after setting out. Sarmen picked a small grove of trees to stop and take a breather before entering the town.

"Since you know the town, you should take the lead." he said to Airra. "You probably know plenty of back ways to where we need to go, which sure beats my asking for directions approach currently."

Airra nodded and turned towards the city.

"there hasn't been PSICOM soldiers here in a while or they are all in one place, but we are good to keep going but don't let your guard down okay?" Airra told Sarmen as she continued to walk but held her gun blade in her hands. Airra walked up to the large apartment building and stared up.

"He lives just behind this apartment building, we should be around here in a bit, since it's so huge." Airra said.

Sarmen followed after Airra, keeping a careful eye behind them to make sure they were not being followed. There were a few odd looks from people, but nothing serious. Though things looked good, he agreed with Airra's advice of keeping his guard up.

"So, what does your brother do?" He asked conversationally as the two l'Cie moved along.

Airra paused for a moment and continued to walk.

"Nothing really. He's good in magic, something im not, but I wouldn't quite say he was a l'cie, I never saw a brand. But he's good at hiding things like that. He helped me when I was little, with my wings, he said I was given them for a reason, but somehow, I think it all led back to him." Airra said as she looked at the old house.

"Funny, thinking this is my o'l brothers fault." Airra stepped closer to the house and turned to Sarm.

"We're here." She said as she knocked on the door.

Sarmen took of his helmet and gave the area a final once over before meeting Airra's brother. From what she had said, he wasn't sure how to feel about this guy just yet.

Tucking his helmet under his left arm, he took up a relaxed standing position behind and to the left of Airra, facing the door.

"So how is this his fault?" He whispered to Airra.

"It isn't. Its the suspision that gets to me. Paranoia maybe?" Airra said as she knocked on the door. She hear a loud crash and a scarmble, the door knob shook and the door opened slowly.

"Who is it?" A voice came from behind the crack of the door. Airra smiled.

"Its me Camron, Airra and I brought someone, don't wprry its fine." There was a laugh from behind the door, then it opened.

"Hey. Come in before someone sees ya." Camrom said as Airra motioned Sarmen to come in .

Sarmen stepped into Camron's home, moving to the side to keep an eye outside for as long as the door stood open.

"My name is Sarmen." He introduced himself. "Nice to meet you."

He extended a hand to Camron.

"Sorry we had to met under such odd circumstances."

Camron nodded.

"it's alright. No worries." camron said as he turned to Airra.

"I see that your wings have come out again." he said as he approached her. He saw the l'cie brand and crystal.

"your a l'cie now huh? You got branded that one day you left didn't you?" camron asked. Airra nodded and sighed.

"and this crystal of yours he has it too huh? It's an old crystal." camron said as he turned to Sarmen.

"so you know what these crystals are too?" Airra asked as she looked at his shelf of books.

"We are currently looking for whatever info we can on these crystal marks." Sarmen explained. "We've been able to learn a few things."

He looked over at Airra.

"What ever I tell him could put him in danger. Are you good with that?"

He looked back at Camron.

"And how about you? All you have to do is go out for some caff and we'll take a look at your books. Once we are done, we'll leave and you won't be in any danger."

(So sorry!!!!!)

Airra sighed, "Its alright. he can handle himself."

Camron nodded, sat down and leaned back.

"Sounds like a good plan to me." He chuckled as he placed his feet on the coffee table.

"Books are in your old room." He looked at the hallway and back at Airra. Airra nodded and headed towards the end of the hallway.

(heh, no problem.)

Sarmen accepted Airra's vouching for Camron and Camron's willingness to take the danger. He moved around the room, peeking out of windows for anything suspicous.

"Good to have you on board, Camron." He said as he kept up his vigil . "So, what's the condenced version of the info in the books?"

  • Author

Camron nodded and smiled.

"Well i dont really know how to give you a brief summary of whats in the books but i can read you something a farseer saw in the past." Camron said as he walked over to the shelf and grabbed a raggedy book. He sat back down and flipped through the pages. Airra sighed and grabbed the book.

"you go to slow Camron." Airra said as she turned to the correct page and began to read.

"People said the two were just another myth but i experienced it with my own eyes-" Airra read as she was interupted by Camron.

"You skipped a crap load, let me see." Camron said as he took the book and began from the beginning.

"All over the world, babies are born every second. One second, a baby girl, born into a family of magic holders. The other second. a baby boy, born into a family of gunsmen. These two were never destined to meet. They said after several years that the girls brother went crazy and had cast a spell upon her which gave her beautiful wings. Her parents had found her as a threat and traveled to Cocoon and left her. The girl soon turned 13 and ran into the young boy on the street. He was fascinated by the wings on her back. They spent time togethor from then on, and sooner or later became inseperable. The young teenagers then became adults, the boy had tought the girl to use a gun and they caused serious havoc in the town. One day on an attempt to pull a scheme on the sargeant, they ran into an odd machine that was reffered to as the "Fal'cie' They came out branded and scared, they hadn't known what they had seen, what they had heard or what to do. They told eachother of the vision they saw, and the crystals they had recieved. The visions were of eachother and a giant machine. By combining the two visions togethor. They figured out their focus, the two had to combine and become the ultimate Eidolon -Back then the Eidolons were owned by everyone and anyone even without being a L'Cie- so the two focused on becoming one. Throughout the process they gave eachother a crystal, the boy implanted it in his forearm, and the girl implanted it in her right wing, they then finally became one. They then got a visit from the Goddess of Etro, she blessed the two with the gift of eternal life. What the two didnt know, was that their focus would kill them if not completed. Due to Eternal life, the girl became a C'ieth and boy was driven crazy the Goddess ended his life. Without these two, the world would never be in harmony again. Everyone felt unsafe without the guidance of the Powerful Eidolon. No one knew if they would return ever again, but hope was never lost. The world came to a new conclusion. PSICOM soldiers." Camron said as he closed the book and sighed, out of breath.

"So, why dont me and Sarmen have Eternal life?" Airra asked.

"The Goddess took the eternal life from the boy and you guys havent combined, you have to remember this was written since, i dont know, forever." Camron said. He looked at the two and smiled.

"Any questions?"

Sarmen raised his eyebrows.

"Wow." he said. "I was expecting some vague mumbo-jumbo. This is rather direct. I didn't know anything connected to fal'Cie or Eidolons was like that."

He was silent for a moment as he considered. His gaze fell on Airra.

"So, we 'become one' and are visited by a Goddess."

Sarmen shook his head and chuckled softly.

"You know, at the beginning of all this, that would have seemed strange to me."

  • Author

Airra looked at him and nodded,

"Yeah, everythings different now though." Airra said as she looked at Camron and thought of the story. She froze at a thought she had.

"Wait, isn't it best if we don't combine?" Airra said in a rush as she sat on the musty bed. Camron looked at her odly.

"Airra, what do you mean? You have to. Its not a choice now. What's holding you back?" Camron said as he put a hand on her shoulder.

"Its just- You said when the two combined, they got visited by a Goddess and she gave them eternal life. Right? Well if that happens to us," She said looking at Sarmen, "Wont that mean, we'd die C'ieths?" Camron gazed off as if not have thinking of it.

"You've got a point. Maybe, i dunno. Maybe you can ask the Goddess yourself, to end your focus. It might work, it may not. I dont know. Ive never considered it." Camron said as he sat next to Airra and flipped the pages of another book that layed next to him.

"'Without these two, the world would never be in harmony again.'" Sarmen quoted. "With a conseqeunce like that, we've got to at least try to find a way to complete our focus. I don't know much about the mythology on Etro, so I have no idea if she can be reasoned with or not, but I think it's worth a try."

He shrugged.

"Beats doing nothing and becoming Cie'th anyway."

"Hes got a point." Camron said as he looked at Airra.

"All you can do now is hope things will get better." Camron said. Airra sighed and heard a knock on the door, she gulped and went quiet. She gt up quickly and looked out the window.

"I thought you had a spell on this house. 'Cause we got visitors." Airra said as she gave Sarmen a look like that the visitors werent strangers.

Sarmen's eyes narrowed. He slid his helmet on and locked it.

"How many?" He asked Airra.

He pointed to Camron.

"Back doors. Preferably a secret one, if you've got it."
