Airra nodded.

"Right." She said as she stepped forward.

"Where to?" She asked. Airra then thought.

(So his focus has something to do with me huh? Then does that mean mine has something to do with his??) She thought for several minutes.

"For now, we return to the Lindblum." Cid Raines said. "There, Airra, Fang can help you figure out your focus. She is more knowledgeable about this than I."

"Also" Sarmen added in. "The Lindblum with provide you with someplace you won't have to worry about PISCOM busting in. And regardless of focus, we can do the best good with the Calvary."

Airra nodded.

"Alright then kiddo your stuck with me." Fang said. Airra nodded then looked at Sarmen. She sighed and turned to Fang.

(Focus... it better not take long to figure that out.) She thought as she grabbed her cloak from the ground and threw it on. She hooded her face and the hid her wings in it.

Raines issued some commands over the radio and got a shuttle to come to get everyone. Sarmen was going through possible meanings of his focus. His natural instincts told him that he was suppose to help Airra with her focus, what ever that was. It also made sense because they were both branded by a Pulse fal'Cie. The question was, what is Airra's focus? And could Sarmen go along with it?

Sarmen looked over at Airra and gave a smile.

"Don't worry." He said. "We'll figure this out."

Sarmen was happy that he sounded more confident then he actually was.

Airra nodded.

"I hope so." Airra said. She sighed and looked at Fang.

"I know you saw something. Tell me what you saw." Fang asked Airra in her ear. Airra grasped her hood.

"Dont wanna talk about this." She said back.

"My focus is mine alone. Not yours to be knowing." Airra said.

The shuttle came low and landed a few feet away from the same gathering here. The door opened almost immediately. Raines went into the shuttle. Sarmen started to follow, but stopped and listened to a voice in his ear wick. He put his helmet back on and stood aside of the shuttle door.

"Fang, Airra." He said to get there attention. "Go ahead and get in. Some of our sentries saw some PSICOM scouts closing in on our position."

Fang nodded and pulled Airra aboard with her. Airra nuged her off. Fang then handed Airra a bottle of water. Airra looked at it confused.

"go ahead." Fang said. Airra nodded and chuged it down.

"Wow your a big drinker arent you." Fang asked. Airra shrugged and looked at Sarmen.

Sarmen watched all around as he backed up into the shuttle.

"Let's move." He called over his back.

The shuttle revved up and climbed up into the sky. Sarmen moved to watch out a window.

"Sir?" The pilot called back.

"Yes, Corporal?" Raines answered.

"I'm picking up an aircraft moving in this direction, sir. Transponders say it's PSICOM."

Fang and Airra shutter.

"PSICOM eh? Hmm." Fang said as her voice trailed off. Airra pulled off her hood and jacket. She looked at her brand and rubbed it.

"What will do? Fight? Or avoid it?" Airra asked.

"Evade, if possible." Raines said.

"And if that doesn't work, regular Calvary officers shouldn't do the fighting." Sarmen added.

He looked back at Fang and Airra.

"We would be better suited for that kind of fight."

Sarmen focused on Airra.

"Airra, how are you at fighting?"

He then switched to Fang.

"Is that brand real?"

Airra looked at Sarmen she thought for a moment.

"Good i guess." She said as she scratched her head. She then heard Fang scoff.

"Of course its real. Im not a pulse l'cie like you too. But i am a l'cie, if thats what your asking." Fang said as she turned to the pilot.

"We need to cut the chit-chat and get to fighting, we wont win by standing here. What do you say?" fang asked Sarmen and Airra. Airra nodded she then turned to Sarmen.

Sarmen looked at a monitor a moment. The smart thing to do was to get low and get out. But with what he had seen PSICOM doing, he found himself not wanting to run. Too much innocent blood were on those butchers hands for Sarmen not to do something about it.

"Let's introduce our 'friends' out there to some pain." Sarmen said coldly.

Sarmen looked over at Raines. Raines nodded and ordered the pilot to get the craft low enough for the three l'Cie to jump out.

"Fang, help them as much as you can, but I still need you on the other l'Cie matter." Raines said.

He moved to the back ramp and hit the button to lower it. Wind ripped through the small space of the shuttle interior, sending Raines's cap and Fang's clothes fluttering.

"Don't get caught." Raines said mainly to Fang, but to Airra and Sarmen as well.

"No fear of that, sir." Sarmen said, moving to the open ramp. "These murders won't know what hit them."

Airra and Fang nodded. They followed Sarmens lead onto the ramp. Airra threw off her cloak. She sighed, she knew the others were looking at her wings. Fang noticed that Airra was a bit troubled and grasped her arm.

"C'mon lets go." She said as she pulled her down the ramp.

"Airra do you have your weapon?" Airra froze then nodded.

"Ready?" Fang asked the two.

"Ready." Sarmen confirmed.

A green little flicked on above the ramp.

"Move!" Sarmen yelled.

With this order out, he ran down the ramp and jumped. The shuttle was some twenty-five feet above the ground, but there was little reason for worry. Sarmen activated the gravity unit in his armor, giving him, Fang, and Airra a soft cushion to land on. When he landed, Sarmen left the gravity unit for the other two.

"We are down and safe." Sarmen radioed the shuttle. "Bug out. We'll reestablish contact when tangos are dealt with."

"Understood." Came Raines's voice. "Good luck."

"Roger that." Sarman answered.

Sarmen looked back to see how Fang and Airra were doing.

Airra and Fang hit the ground safely and stumbled behind Sarmen. Fang pulled out her spearded lance and panted.

"Phew, i havent made an entance like that in a while." She said as she looked at Airra then Sarmen. Airra pulled out her gunblade and stood quietly. Fang then looked at Airra.

"Hey kid, is something eating you? Are you okay to fight?" fang asked her.

"Im fine." Airra said as she took a couple steps forward.

Sarmen retrieved his gravity device. As he put it back in his armor he wondered if he really needed it. Could he use magic to do stuff like that now that he was a l'Cie. Something to look into later.

Sarmen looked over as Airra took her steps forward. Sermen slid back his visor to let his eyes be visible. Getting Fang's attention, he raised an eyebrow. The other l'Cie shrugged. Sarmen lowered his visor and walked over next to Airra.

"We need to get under cover so we can ambush the PSICOM patrol." he said.

He looked around, then spotted a nice little overhang the three l'Cie could get under and been unseen from the air.

"Over there." He said, pointing to the spot, then started to lead Airra and Fan over to it.

"Airra." He said as the moved. "If you are uncomfortable with this fight, Fang and myself can handle it. You don't have to enter into it, if you don't wish to."

"Im fine." Airra replied. She crouched down and sighed.

"The only reason i am fighting is tobfigure out my focus after all." She said as she looked at Sarmen.

(I am still confused, i bet my focus is about him. If his was about mine. Why does this have to be so confusing?) She thought to herself.

"Fair enough." Sarmen replied.

He was still wondering about his own focus. It looked clear, but the fal'Cie weren't know for making things simple. The faint sound of the PSICOM craft snapped him back from his thoughts.

"Alright, the airship should let out a six man ground party in this area while it moves on. If we move fast, we can finish off the ground crew before the can radio the ship. I'll draw their fire. You two get in there and take them out as fast as you can."

  • Author

"Right!" Fang said as she grabbed Airra by the arm and headed out.

"You heard orders. Take 'em out quicker the better." Fang said as she let Airra out of her grasped and held onto her spear. They approached quietly, the soldiers spotted them and ran towards them. Fang and Airra attacked them and the fight was over quiet quickly.

"clear!" Fang yelled behid her.

"Maybe after all this is done, you can tell me what you wouldnt tell the others." Fang said as she looked at Airra. Airra smiled and scoffed.

"Sure." She said with a grin.

Sarmen nodded, satisfied by the girls work. They both seem to do a good job. Sarmen ran to them and stopped at one of the PSICOM soldiers. He grabbed the dead man's radio and weapon, a rocket launcher.

"Alright, phase 2." He said. "I'm calling in reinforcements from the airship that dropped these guys off. When it starts to unload more, I'll take out an engine with this rocket launcher. If any soldiers hit ground, work your magic again. Ready?"

  • Author

"Sure thing." Fang said as she grinned. Sarmen started calling in reinforcements and hurried off.

"So while were waiting. How did you become what you are today?" Fang asked her. Airra scoffed.

"I got them when i became a l'ce. So im an enemy and a monster." Airra said as she sat on the floor and looked around for enemies.

"So thats it! Your focus has something to do with those wings. What did you see in your vision?" Fang asked. Airra sighed.

"All i remember is seeing Sarmen.. and i dont quiet remember the rest." Airra said. Fang nodded and looked about.

Sarmen ran to a good vantage point where he could watch for the airship. Kneeling down, he rested the rocket launcher beside him and took off his helmet. For this kind of work, he liked being able to see and feel things with his own eyes and face. As he waited, he took a deep breath. He was surprised he had been able to keep his cool as he had. He was now a Pulse l'Cie. A...

"No." He told himself. "The fal'Cie might have limited my opinions, but I control my destiny."

His determination rekindled, Sarmen hefted the rocket launcher to his shoulder. The PSICOM ship would be here soon.

"All clear. We wait for Sarmens call." Fang said as she sat next to Airra. They both sighed in unison.

"Airra?" Fang asked. Airra looked at her.

"Yes?" She replied.

"Can you answer a few questions?" Fang asked. Airra smiled.

"'Course i can!" Airra said as she leaned back.

"well, first off, do you know a girl named Vanille?" Fang asked.

Sarmen scanned the sky relentlessly, trying to pick out the ship before it got too close. He briefly wondered what Airra and Fang were talking about. He was rather glad that the two of them seemed to work well together.

Before he could continue this train of thought, Sarmen spotted the airship coming in.

"Target incoming." he called through his radio. "E.T.A. about 20 seconds."

  • Author

"No, never heard of the name. Why are your names so weird?" Airra asked as she heard Sarmen through a radio. Fang stood up.

"Were not from Cocoon. And stay on your guard ships are coming." Fang said as Airra stood up.

"We are you from then?" Airra asked.

"Gran Pulse."
