With Skyward Sword out and my love for Final Fantasy, I began to wonder what one of the slightly older Legend of Zelda games would be like if it had Final Fantasy like turn based enemy encounters. There would be the attack command, maybe some spells from the older Legend of Zelda games, items, of course, etc. What do you think it would be like? How would the gameplay work? Would you like it or not?

I'd think it would be redundant.

Final Fantasy has it's own gameplay and LoZ does. Both mastered their style over all those years. They should stick to what they do best.

Actually, Legend of Zelda has used many different forms of gameplay over time, but I get your point. Anyone else?

It'd probably be more strategic than Final Fantasy, allowing Link to use his items in battle to cause different effects, and leaving it to you to find out which one will work best.

It's certainly an interesting idea...

But all of them where action based and in real time. And except for Zelda 2 all big console titles had a similar battle system.

I just thought it would be interesting for Link to use the odd equipment he finds in a turn based system. Think about it, grapple claws, enchanted boomerang, bombs, bow and arrows, slingshot, etc. There are a lot of possibilities.
