As far as I'm concerned, the last true appearance of SpongeBob was in the movie. Nothing else that came afterwards deserves to share the same name as that great show.

Some of the new eps near the year 2009 were good. Now there are only a few eps that are funny but not as the old one. And yes I have watch every ep they ever had.

I dunno what must be wrong with me then lol I don't even pay attention to what jokes they DO use I just watch and slightly listen lol i'm just not a critic like most people! I know your all not trying to be critics but I just dunno whats wrong with the newer episodes I enjoy them just fine and I do listen to what they say,and it seems just all new.Or I mean there isn't anything wrong with re-using jokes for me at least maybe that is why I enjoy them?

The reason why we don't like the newer episodes is because they aren't smart anymore. The older SpongeBob episodes weren't just funny because of gag humor, they were funny because it was a well-written show, with clever jokes and smart dialogue. After the movie, the creator of the show left, but Nick decided to keep the show alive. Since then, they've pretty much taken one aspect of each character, and super amplified it in the hopes of it being funny. Mr. Krabs is now a cheap @$$hole (moreso), Patrick went from a loveable idiot to a complete retard, Squidward went from annoyed neighbor to a self absorbed supermodel, Sandy went from a karate loving texan to a scientist, and SpongeBob went from a well-meaning protagonist to a complete freak of nature.

 

They aren't the same characters anymore, and the writing has no thought or intelligence behind it. If the series had ended after the movie, SpongeBob would have a MUCH better rep than he does now.

Patrick? retard? how odd! I must have been watching the wrong episodes! ALL the episodes I have seen after the movie I liked just fine! As a matter of fact I have seen a LOT of episodes after the movie! I'm so frustrated cause i am the only one here who still likes Spongebob and I have no idea why everyone thinks of the series as they do NOW! So the show is exactly the same as it was in the older episodes? Yeah the older episodes were better but the new ones are by no means bad. The stuff you guys are complaining about are the exact same thing the show is supposed to be about. In fact, Spongebob was originally meant to be an adult program centered around the misadventures of a stereotypical Jewish man (Mr. Krabs), a stereotypical Gay (Spongebob), a stereotypical retard (Patrick), a redneck (sandy), obese teacher (Mrs. Puff) and so on and so forth. When the show got rejected by Adult Swim, it turned into a children's show on Nick with less offensive versions of the same characters. The entire show is centered around these personalities. I've been watching Spongebob daily since it came out and have seen every episode at least 10 times. The newer episodes, while the jokes aren't as funny, are definitely much more creative. I enjoyed the Atlantis episode quite a bit. I also found the whole Karate Island thing being a giant real estate scam priceless.
