Alright, the gaming season has come and gone, and it has been an incredible year. So many incredible games have come out, that my wallet is weeping manly tears. So now that December is upon us, and there aren't anymore huge releases coming for the rest of the year, I think it's time for me to post my list of my top 5 favourite games of 2011. Not only that, but I will also talk about most disappointing games, and of course, YOUR Top 5 games of 2011. So without further ado...
Keep in mind that I have not played the following games:
Skyward Sword
Skyrim
KH Coded
Sonic
Mario 3D
LA Noir

Number 5:
What a way to start off this list, huh? Taking place hundreds of years after Portal 1, players take control of Chell and a small AI core named Wheatley as they attempt to escape from Aperture Science Labratories, and soon, the wrath of GLaDOS. With incredibly humorous dialogue, an incredibly immersive and well told story, mind bending puzzles, amazing voice acting, and a solid online cooperative mode that teaches you how to rely on teamwork, this masterpiece by Valve was slightly held back by a very short playtime and a lack of replayability. I gave this game a 9.5 / 10, and looking back, I will now give it a 9 / 10.
Number 4:
The latest installment of the Assassin's Creed series is certainly its best entry to date. Players control Italian Master Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who is on a mission in Constantinople to find 5 keys to Altair Ibn La'Ahad's secret library in Masyaf before the Templars can get their hands on them. The game perfectly wraps up Ezio and Altair's stories in an extremely satisfying way, and the presentation is greatly enhanced in pretty much every way. New gameplay features are added, just enough to keep the experience fresh. However, the feel of familiarity and the Den Defence mode hold it back from getting a higher score. I gave this game a 9 / 10.
Number 3:
The sequel to one of the PS3's definitive games, inFamous 2 tells the story of Cole, who has travelled to the city of New Marais to find the key to upgrading his powers, before the Beast arrives on its path of destruction. This game features an amazing story that features plenty of twists and turns, incredibly upgraded powers, abilities, and combat, and a completely revamped and better presentation in every way from the first game. The only thing keeping this game from getting a perfect score was the slightly wonky camera. I gave this game a 9.5 / 10.
Number 2:
What's that? An Uncharted game is among the best of the year? What a surprise. The game follows Nathan Drake as he and best bud Sully travel across the world to find Iram, the "Atlantis of the Sands", which was supposedly buried beneath the Rub al' Kali Desert. The game features a fantastic story with several mindblowing setpieces, some of gaming's best presentation, and solid, refined gameplay. Looking back, I found that the ending of the game wasn't as strong as the other two in the series, but make no mistake, this is one of the PS3's best games. I gave this game a 10 / 10, and looking back I'll give it a 9.5 / 10.
And My Number 1 Game of 2011 Is:
Talk about a game that hits all of the right notes! The player becomes Batman, as he travels through the newly built Arkham City to tie up loose ends from Arkham Asylum, deal with a possibly dying Joker, and the mysterious Protocol 10 being spearheaded by Dr. Hugo Strange. This game does everything right. The voice acting is brilliant, the graphics and soundtrack are great, the story is fantastic, the gameplay is greatly expanded upon with several hours of extra content, and an ending that truly hammered in that I was playing the best game of 2011. This is the game that, in my opinion, managed to take GOTY from UNCHARTED. You are doing yourself a disservice if you don't buy and play Batman: Arkham City. I gave this game a 10 / 10.
And now that those are out of the way, it's time to find out what you thought about this year. Next up:

Considering that this is the first TRUE Zelda game for the Wii (TP was a port of the Gamecube game), people were expecting the best, and from the sounds of it, that's what they got. An art style that shows that the Wii, though not as powerful, can still boast impressive visuals, an all star soundtrack, solid controls, an excellent story that provides a solid beginning to the Zelda timeline, this shows that when Nintendo is dealing with their major mascots, they know what they're doing.
Numbers 4, 3, and 2:
Arkham City, Uncharted 3, and AC: Revelations (7 Votes)
Damn. I was already surprised that 3 different games all got the same amount of support from you guys, but I was also surprised to see AC getting some love, which I certainly wasn't expecting. Well, I've already talked about these games so scroll back up, but wow. Unexpected.
And Your Number 1 Game Of 2011 Is:
inFamous 2 (8 Votes)
Man, ANOTHER huge surprise. I was expecting Skyrim to take the title, but it ended up only getting 4 votes, even getting beaten by MW3. Well, there's no denying that it's an excellent game, so scroll up if you want me to talk about it.
Well, that's about all the time I have for tonight. Tomorrow I will post my Most Disappointing Games of 2011, so be ready.
