Just bought a game from the 3DS eshop, and they made me pay tax on it! Now I never had a dsi, but the games on the dsi shop were in points instead of dollars so I'd assume there was no tax on them. Is using dollars instead of points Nintendo's sneaky way of getting people to pay more?! I'm not liking it.

i wouldnt say its Nintendo's way of getting people to pay more, since taxes go to the government.

While you complain about it, tax is actually a good thing. It pays the Goverenment, which in turn allows them to do things that (Sometimes) benefit the Country.

It varies state from state. Some states have laws that tax digital content and some don't.

That's pretty bad. Here where I live there's no taxes for videogames! :D

Yeah, I guess so. Like my country gets free healthcare :)

And I'm only complaining because there didn't used to be tax on the dsi or wii shop, but there is on the 3ds shop.

I'm used to paying tax, just didn't expect it on the eshop.

You pay tax one way or another. With the points, the cards themselves are taxed, with this method, you pay the exact amount, and the tax is added later

Basically, points= $19.99 + tax = 2000 points

Now it's $20.00 = $20.00, and the products themselves are taxed.

I don't remember paying tax on points cards. Maybe I did though.
