Jarl lifted a hand in a calming gesture.

"I'm not here to hurt or anything." he said in a reassuring tone. "And if you are worried about your cover, don't. I make it a habit to know most wizards by sight. Especially if..."

His voice trailed off. She wasn't one of Thomas's underlings. Then why had his spell connected her to Thomas? This was perhaps more interesting than if she did work for Thomas.

He gave her a smile.

"Sorry. My mind wandered a bit. Where was I? Oh, yes. I am merely getting some pesky introductions out of the way to save time."

Miki raised an eyebrow at him and stood up. "Know wizards by sight, huh?" She said but didn't bother to ask what he was going to say next. "Alright then." She said to Jarl and looked up at him. "Must be cool to sense wizards out like that. Never seem a trick like that in my spellbook." Interesting wizard, she thought

Jarl gestured to Miki's wand.

"You already have the basics down." He said. "The other bit is to have a good memory with faces. I like to know wizards that come into New York."

He glanced at the bench next to Miki.

"May I?" he said, gesturing to the spot.

(Did this turn into a 1x1 rp??)

Miki looked at the bench and back at Jarl. "Um ok.." she said and stepped aside a bit. A magic trick here?, she thought and crossed her arms, this is goona be good, but yet again, he could turn out to a better wizard than me. Miki watched Jarl. People passing by just seemed to ignore them, as if they were average people like them.

(Well...sure looks like it.)

Jarl sat on the bench. He leaned his cane against his leg, but kept a hand on it.

"So what brings you to New York?" he asked politely. "Just looking around, or do you have a special reason?"

Miki was going to say ice cream but she can always get one herself. "No reason really. Got bored, walked i to new york, and here i am." Sbe said and looked around, "but i if there's an empty place so i can just mess around with my magic. My wand is kinda getting cold from me not holding it." She could feel the energy at her fingertips but needed to keep it in check. Miki sighed

Danny made them teleport to broadway, where Paul was going to. Paul had decided to catch a broadway show with a few friends. Danny looked at November. "Okay if you can find someone named Paul Jackson make him come with you no matter what. He is the first wizard we need." Danny said and then went in search for Paul in one way.

Jarl nodded. From her manner, he doubted Miki was lying. She was not a current threat. Still, she was worth watching. Maybe he could recruit her, though he suspected she wouldn't care for his goals.

"Pity." he thought.

He cleared his throat.

"There are a few places some spells could be cast without notice." he said, standing up. "What kind of magic did you have in mind?"

"Any is fine but i'm mostly good at lightning and fire." She said and a spark came to her fingertips. I need to calm down, she thought and the spark went away. I wonder if he knows about that guy, Thomas and wizards that are working for him, she thought. "Ohh, can you take me there??" She asked. Miki was in no mood to go back home

Rain walked up to school. She decided to make an early start while her parents were still asleep. She had left a note at the door, so who cares? She tugged on the school door furiously. It was still locked. She looked around and inside the windows. no-one could see her, so she took out her wand. She was a beginning wizard, so she was still at the 'rhyming stage' "These doors will not need me to knock, for me alone they shall unlock" she smiles at it clicks open and she walks into the building that still didn't have it's lights turned on. When she closed the door again, they unlocked, and any other person to try to open it could not.

Jarl thought a moment.

"Well, let me see." he said, stroking his chin in a thoughtful manner. "Fire and Lightning are a little conspicuous, but there are a few areas that might be usable at this time."

Jarl went through a mental list of areas he had used to keep certain magical abilities from the public's eyes.

"Ah." he said, snapping his fingers and smiling. "There is an old warehouse that I've used to let off a little steam. Care to try it?"

"Great!" Miki said excitedly and looked around. There was less people around now, so the least she could do now was teleport. "Instead of walking, we can just flash there. Nobody is here. Before Jarl can answer, Miki snapped her fingers and they dissapeared. A second later, the both of them reappeared the the old warehouse Jarl was talking about. "Huh, looks like i got the location right. It's been a while since i've transported somewhere." She said and rubbed her hands together. "Okay then. Let's get started!"

Jarl blinked for a moment as he got his barrings. Such teleportation spells always left him a little off balance. He soon recognized his surroundings.

"Well done." he said, nodding appreciatively. "Not many can make a jump like that precisely."

Jarl twirled his cane, muttering something. Have way through a twirl, it shrunk down to it's normal, wand size. He finished the twirl with his wand firmly held in his hand.

"Alright. Let's see what you can do."

Miki smiled and pulled out her wand. "With pleasure." She said. Maybe i should try that new trick, she thought, but will it work? She smirked lowered her wand and crosed her arms. Miki focused all her energy around her body. Jarl looked confused but in a second she became a human torch. Not the felling a mortal would get if they where on fire, she thought and smiled.

Jarl stuck his wand under an arm and clapped with his free hands.

"Impressive." he complimented.

"She is definitely has power." he thought. "But how does she use it?"

Jarl snapped his wand back into his hand. He pointed it up and started waving it in a circle. Soon a small vortex of Air spun on the tip of his wand.

"Think you can maintain that fire against a blast of air?" he asked with a small smile.

Mki tried to keep her ground as winds about 90 miles per hour were rushing at her. Her fire dimmed down. Foucuse energy, she kept repeating in her mind. She felt a surge of energy and her eyes lit up white. A surge of lightning came at the vortex and it dissapeared along with the lightning. Her eyes stopped glowing. Woah, she thought, i never done that before. Miki twirled her wand in her hand and pointed it at Jarl.

"Very good." Jarl said.

He slowed his spell and finished it off.

"Lightning is also a specialty of mine as well. I'd say you have quiet a gift for it, from what I've seen."

An idea stuck him.

"Let's see how good you are at absorbing Lightning spells."

The end of his wand sparked.

"I'll start with something small, at first."

Jarl fired an arch of Lightning. He made sure that Miki would only get a little shock if she couldn't absorb it.

Miki stuck out her finger and the lightniing dissapeared before it can hit her. "Is that all you got?" She asked and smirked. Let's see how i work with earth related magic, she thought and pointed her wand to the ground. The ground started to turn all muddy and Jarl was getting sucked in. The ground was turning into quick sand.

Jarl opened his mouth to protect, but he merely sighed.

"She's a free spirited one." he thought to himself. "Let her do as she will."

He focused on the quick sand. Earth was never his strong suit. He didn't think he could dispel what Miki had done, so they logical solution was to remove himself from the ground. He waved his wand around himself, calling wind together. He was lifted out of the quick sand's grasp and into the air.

"Think fast!" he warned.

He fired another bolt of Lightning, uping the power of it till would knock Miki down if she didn't get it in time.

Dammit, she thought as she couldn't catch the bolt in time and slid back onto the ground. This guy is good, she thought as she got back up to her feet. She was getting out of breath. Hwo about something classic, she thought amd waved her wand in the air. A mini storm could appeared over Jarl's head and to started raining. Miki laughed and lightning started striking from the cloud

Jarl smirked at the rain cloud. He reached into it with his magic and increased its size, filling most of the warehouse. He closed his eyes and it started to rain more.

"Since you pulled out simple tricks, might as well go all the way." he said.

He looked down at his attire. He sighed.

"A wizard can never seem to keep clothes dry." he added dryly.

Miki got soaked and she made the rain cloud go away. "Man, i'm beat." She said and put her palms together and air bursted out from them. she became mostly dry but her hair was still damp. "Well that was fun!" She said and stuck her wand back in her boot. This guy was tough, she thought

Jarl followed Miki's example and dried his clothes with a little Air magic. He lowered himself to the ground.

"It was fun." he said with a bow. "My thanks for an enjoyable chance to play with magic."

He glanced at his watch. He was a little worried that he hadn't heard or seen anything of Thomas's men. What was that man planning?

Miki just sat down where she was. Now onto serious matters, she thought, where is that Thomas dude and wh the hell is working for him; I want to ask Jarl about but i really don't know how he'll respond. She looked up at him and bit her lower lip. Here it goes, she thought and opened her mouth. "Do you know anything about Thomas Pain's whereabout?" she asked him and mentally shut her eyes and waited for a response

Rain smiled. She'd dug out the day's lesson plan before the teacher got there, and had used magic to get all of that day's work done. When all the lights in school turned on, the teacher walked in. Rain simply smiled at her as she was putting the lesson plan back on the teacher's desk, which was then covered by all of her work. The teacher blinked in surprise, and Rain headed off to the office. She liked to help the secretaries with their mail in the mornings (Without magic, mind you.)
