A Percy Jackson Series Spin-Off

You guys know the rules. No posting in a 1x1 unless you're me or RoxSox.

Summary:
Two teenage demigods are on their way to Camp Half-Blood, whether they know it or not yet. And what befalls them during their journeys.

Mine:

Name: Kaylee Gatts

Age: 14

Appearance: Kaylee has long brown hair, usually ornamented by a pink bow like Aerith's, but instead worn in an UNbraided ponytail. She usually wears a tank top, flowered skirt, and in contrast orange, blue, and green basketball shoes. Slung over her shoulder is her quiver, and Kaylee always carries her ribbon-and-glitter decorated bow wherever she goes.

Weight: 120

Immortal Parent: Apollo

Mortal Parent: Amanda Gatts

Attitude: Kaylee is generally very laid back and calm, exuding an air of confidence. She can become a little bratty at times, but in general tries to hide that more annoying side of herself. She doesn't often get angry, or get into fights, preferring to just let things happen the way they will rather than trying to influence them.

Likes: Music, sports, writing, paintball, airsoft, archery

Dislikes: Silence, television, rock-climbing

Strengths: Archery, confidence, science, singing, optimism

Flaws: Overconfidence, sword-fighting

Alliance (Gods, Titans, Humans): Gods

Home City/Town, State/Province/Territory, Country: Louisville, Mississippi, U.S.A

Other: Kaylee wants to be recognized by the gods as a Hero, and maybe compete in the Olympics. She wants more than anything to stand out from the crowd and be recognized for her accomplishments, and be more than just another demigod at camp. Kaylee devotes most of her time trying to be the best at everything, hoping her Dad will take notice.

Fatal Flaw: Pride

Rox's

Name - Christopher Witt
Appearance/Details - Christopher has golden blonde hair, naturally curly but straightened, If he feels like it, he'll make it spiky. He has slate gray eyes, and a chiseled face. He's around six foot tall and weighs no more then a hundred and forty five pounds. Athletic and fast. He never dresses fancy, just a simple white t-shirt and beige cargo pants with several pockets. He wears a silver chain necklace with an owl pendant and a collection of wrist bands on his right arm. All with different captions and sayings on them. He just turned fifteen

Immortal/Mortal parent: His mother is Athena, and his father is an architect named, Alexander Witt.

Attitude: Christopher is nice enough. In fact he can be extremely polite and even a bit charming, but the problem with that is he's almost always got his nose in a book or his mind on other things. This makes him appear a bit rude and standoffish to the people who don't know him well enough to assume otherwise.

Likes/Dislikes: He enjoys puzzles and riddles, or anything else that gets his mind working. Solving things makes him happy. He doesn't it like it when something is said or done that doesn't make any sort of sense. He feels every decision made needs to have a logical reasoning or sensible conclusion. Aside from that, he enjoys movies, architecture, and math. He hates loud noises or anything else that disturbs him from thinking. "Solace in silence" he always says.

Strengths/Flaws: If you give him a puzzle, a riddle, a question that needs answering, or a rubix cube. It will be solved conclusively within thirty seconds or less. And while it didn't have much bearing on his everyday life, he shares his mothers prowess when it comes to battle strategy and wisdom. He's also pretty good with most weapons.

His flaws? He's got a few. But his fatal flaw is more specific. He believes theres an answer for everything. Even if everything is in the enemies favor.

Alliance: Gods.

Home City: Seattle Washington

.

Other: Christopher is always prepared. In his many pockets, you will find a wallet with cash. A pouch with twenty five golden drachma (His father gave those to him... long story,) A variety of pens and pencils. A measuring tape. a canteen of water, and a smaller canteen with nectar. A baggy with ambrosia, and a note pad. He also has a lighter, and a collection of arrow and spear heads- all celestial bronze- for use in an emergency. His backpack contains a collapsible bow that he designed himself. A quiver of arrows. A spear that telescopes from a cylinder of metal the size of a flashlight to a staff of silver at least five foot long. Also, a small knife used for cooking more so then killing.

"Well... that's weird." Kaylee could not find any more accurate expression. She traced her finger over the spot on the map her mother had circled in pink highlighter, signaling the location of this Camp Half-Blood. And honestly Kaylee was beginning to get scared by all this. "So a god would just come down and say, hey, guess what, I'm your dad? That's it?" She shrugged. "Guess my dad hasn't claimed me yet. Is there any way to figure out who my dad is right now? Because I looked it up on the Internet and there are actually several different gods is could be." If that stuff's even real and you're not just crazy. Kaylee added mentally.

"Well, it's hard to tell. What are your interests? Anything specific about yourself that might have something in common with one of the gods?"

Christopher hadn't been surprised when Athena came to him. His whole life he had shared traits with her...

Christopher looked the girl over, he didn't see anything that struck him as being in common with a male god. She was pretty, but she couldn't be Aphrodite's kid on account of the fact this girl knows her mother. He realized he didn't even know her name yet...

Bah. What does it matter. It's not like he'll know her long enough for it to matter. People who came in contact with Christopher had a bad habit of becoming dead.

"I don't really know much. I didn't ever really learn about Greek history and never cared to, so I don't really know more than their names, but.." Kaylee thought for a moment. "Well, I like music. Is there a god of music? And I guess I've always been pretty good at archery, though that might be just because my Mom made me practice it since I was a little kid." Kaylee wracked her brain for anything, but honestly couldn't conjure much up. "I know some of their names so I might recognize it if we can figure it out. But I wonder if you got claimed why I didn't..."

"Well, music isn't very specific. Everyone likes music. And archery, well, you don't even have to have a godly parent to be into that. Not much to go on."

Christopher sighed, disappointed that there wasn't more evidence for him to work off of. He was usually good at solving problems, but this girl was hard

to read.

"Anyway, I just realized we havn't even introduced ourselves. I'm Christopher... but call me Chris." he reached out to shake her hand, and he noticed that

his were shaking. What was that about? He never got nervous. Not under normal circumstances, at least. But he corrected himself, these weren't normal circumstances.

He was in the middle of the woods, with night falling, around a person he doesn't know and with monsters on both their trails. What wasn't there to be nervous about?

"Oh, I'm Kaylee. I'd say nice to meet you but these aren't exactly the best circumstances." She thought for a moment. "Well... I can't really think of much else. I like volunteering as a nurse's assistant, and I'm pretty good at figuring out all the medical stuff. I mean, I guess I'll have to wait and see. That's not much to work with, I guess. I wish I had more hobbies that were more specific." She sighed, knowing she wasn't the most patient person in the world. "I hear monsters getting a lot closer. We should move, and try to find that camp on the map. I mean, it'll be helpful once we figure out exactly where we are."

  • 2 weeks later...

Christopher had stopped listening to her shortly after she mentioned her name... He was to concerned to worry about anything else.

Chris slowly stood up, and sniffed the air. "Monsters, huh..." he took a few steps foward, looking into the shadows of the woods. He craned his neck, and thats when he saw it...

A Hellhound.

But this was no normal Hellhound... it was massive. Christopher had been to the zoo when he was far younger, and he had seen all sorts of creatures.

This Hellhound was around the size of a Rhino, if he put on the weight of an elephant and the muscle of Arnold Schwarzenegger. And then it saw him.

Chris locked eyes with it, the Hellhound regarded him. Then it pounced into the clearing, shaking the ground as he landed. He paced around the fire,

sniffing the air, perking his ears up as if he were checking for something. He relaxed, seeming satisfied, and then he barked, looked back at Christopher,

and started panting.

Was it possible that this big hunk wasn't aggressive? No, it couldn't be. Christopher had fought dozens of Hellhounds on his way east, and none of them had given him the time of day save trying to bite his head off. The dog scratched behind his ear innocently, and the barked again. This time, Chris heard another bit of rustling in the bushes. And then another creature stumbled out into the clearing, falling flat on his face in the process. His furry hindquarters propped in the air, his horns stabbed into the ground.

Wait, what? Christopher looked closer...

The boy was normal from the waist to his eye brows, above that, in the nest of his hair, were to horns. And below his waist, were the legs of a goat.

Christopher started to question if this was a dream, because nothing like that could be real... then he took note of the elephant-dog.

A Satyr, a real life Satyr, had just fallen into their laps. The massive dog bounded up to the goat-boy and licked his face.

"Mrs. O'leary, is that really necessary?" the satyr said, wiping the drool off his cheek.

"Ohmygod," Kaylee watched the giant dog nervously. It was giant and massively scaring her. She felt like she should know the name of it, though, since she'd taken Latin a few years ago and there was a mythology section. What was it? Hellhound? The name didn't comfort her much once she'd figured it out. Kaylee stood up, tapping her bow, and watched the goat boy or whatever he was. "Is this your dog? You might want to get a shock collar or a leash for it." Strangely, the Hellhound didn't seem so threatening. It was barking in a cheerful rather than malicious way. Actually, in a weird way, Kaylee thought it was sort of cute. It wasn't very angry at the very least. "By the way, who exactly are you? Considering you've got a giant monster with you."

"Oh, that's just Mr's. O'leary. She won't bite you... unless you're a monster. Which, I don't think you are." The satyr sounded almost wistful when regarding Kaylee, what was that about. The stayr scrambled to his feet, and saluted. "My name's Oswald. And I am a Stayr, if that wasn't... obvious... ahem. I come from Camp Half-Blood, and it is my duty to ensure you arrive at the borders of camp safe, and uneaten." Oswald smiled a vibrant smile, like he was proud he remembered all of that.

"And by the way, you can just call me Oz for short. Everyone else does."

The Satyr looked around the clearing cautiously, taking intermittent sniffs.

Christopher smiled. "So you were sent by Camp? To take us there? Well.. how close are we?"

"Well, it's in New York, and since we're in Pennsylvania rignt now-"

Chrisopher's smile faded. "Pennsylvania?"

"Yeah, why?" Oz said with a neutral expression.

"Nothing, just, curious. Farther away then I thought we would be."

Mrs. Oleary was sitting beside Kaylee now, happy as can be.

Oz approached the massive animal, scratching the dogs forehead.

"And no, it isn't my dog. It belongs to my friend, Percy. Usually Mr's. O'leary only gets along with him, but she manages."

Oz slung a backpack off his shoulders and reached in, there wasn't anything in it aside from a pair of pants, some styrofoam, a pair of shoes, and a lot of dog treats.

He pulled out a doggie bone the size of Christophers forearm, and gave it to the dog.

"The thing is, she has a great nose. And us Satyrs, so do we... so, as a team, there's no Demigod we can't find." Oz said, proudly.

"Wow, we were just that easy to find?" Kaylee muttered. "You know if you'd been here two or three days ago when I'd started getting lost that would have been a lot more helpful." She reached out tentatively, gently patting the Hellhound. It didn't seem to mind, but Kaylee was still a bit apprehensive being so close to the monster. "How did anyone make friends with this thing? Is it dumb or something? Aren't Hellhounds supposed to be terrifying monsters who try to eat everyone?" But then what the satyr had said really settled in. It meant this week of hell was about to come to an end. She scooped up her things, never once unpacked through the entire time, and bounced up cheerily. "Let's get going to camp, then! I don't think I want to spend much more time out here anyway. I think I'm done camping now."

Oz looked at Kaylee with a smile.

"It's still gonna be a few days, we have to make our way north, and we have to duck the monsters, and this and that. All in all, it's just gonna be a huge hassle. Sorry I didnt find you guys earlier, a little mix up. So, let's get going... wait, I didn't catch either of your names?"

Christopher straightened up, throwing his backpack on and stomping out the fire. "My names Christopher. Call me Chris." He offered his hand, Oz took it, shaking it vigorously.

So, they were headed North. And at the end of the road was a safe, peaceful place. That sounded alright by Christopher.

"I'm Kaylee and I'm extremely glad to see you so that I can stop getting lost." She glanced around. "So do you remember how to get out or are we still in the middle of who-knows-where?" All in all, though, Kaylee was a bit surprised. She kept expecting this to turn out to be her mother's deluded fantasy. For there to not be any Greek gods, a camp, or really anything it all. Just a crazy, worthless quest that had almost gotten her killed. Or maybe even a dream. She'd considered that quite a few times. Though she could never manage to wake herself if that were the case. "Oh!" Kaylee pulled out her map. "Maybe this could be helpful? My mom gave it to me before I... left."

Oz took the map from her hands, and then frowned. "How did a mortal get her hands on this? The location of camp is supposed to be a close guarded secret, and yet, this is exactly where it's supposed to be." Oswald handed the map back to her with a concerned expression on his face. "I don't understand it... "

Now Chris had only known Oz for a few minutes, but he already could tell that this was a person who didn't make a habit of being quiet. And yet the satyr was dead silent... something about that map really bothered him.

"How long did you say it's been since your mother gave you that map, Kaylee?" Oz asked the question through gritted teeth, like he was bracing for really bad news.

  • Author

"Only about a week ago--not too long. I'm not sure where she is now if you wanted to talk to her about it. I don't know where she got it or anything. She just gave it to me unexpectedly." Kaylee felt a little on edge now. What about the map was making Oz so upset? Whether it was a secret location or not, if what her mom and Chris had told her was true, then shouldn't it not be a secret to her? Didn't she supposedly belong there? "I don't understand. What's so bad about my map? The only reason I couldn't use it was because I didn't know where I was."

Oz looked like he was practically ready to faint. "The location of the camp is a close guarded secret. No one is even supposed to be able to find it without being guided right into it. And yet here is a map. that's around for as long as I've been away at camp..." Oz had taken a sudden interest in his hooves... "It's probably nothing. Yes. Let's stick with that."

Christopher touched Oz on the shoulder.

"Shouldn't we hit the road, then?" he said, trying to change the subject.
