The Rise of Heroes: Clash of Nations

Posted

Prologue: The world of Ubeacu has always been a world of Peace. The nine kingdoms of Ubeacu have never had any problems with eachother, until fifteen years ago....a man named Kimmnadjii of the Foresstor Emerged from his long meditation and proclaimed that there would be a war, started by a secret alliance made up of five of the greatest kingdoms in the land. Kimmnadjii was later found dead in his home, with a sword threw his back. Thus the four weaker nations of Foresstor the Dog-like people who are master hunters and use mighty two handed axes as weapons, the Berrisotor the immortals who use divine magic to dispose of their enemies and heal their friends, the Gorrik the most human of the kingdoms who wear chainmail and cloth and fight with one handed swords and shields, and they chose the greatest of the lower nations to lead them. This nation is the Anguul, these are winged people. Their wings are a testimate of their class within the nation. White wings means nobility or the leading class, black wings means the soldier class, and dragon wings means the magic using class. These nations prepared a retaliation force, just incase the greater nations decided to attack. The greater nations were led by the Kamathons the dracomancers who could become dragons and fight using dragon abilities, the next in power is the Marcuscians or the Orks a barbaric tribe of the greatest hunters in the world they are only ahead of the others for their sheer numbers and battle abilities, then come the Elves the immortal and best archers in the world, then come the Dwarves who are a mechanically advanced people who use switch blades and cannons as weapons, and then the lowest are the Frigard the frog people who can live under water for months at a time. The lower nations' retaliation force was perfectly timed because the greater nations struck only days after the retaliation force was created....this is the story of this war, starting fifteen years into the war.

"Understood, sir," Medens responded. He knew from personal experience that he could handle the healing thing, but the destructive magic he wasn't so sure of. People had always said that he had a "healing touch." He remembered that once when visiting his uncle at a hospital when he was but twelve years old there had been a terminally ill Gorrik his uncle was hard at work on. When his uncle had all but given up, Medens poured magic into the man, the magic first allowing him to analyze his entire body and determine the cause of the illness. This was significant due to the fact that an individual having control of that level on their magic as it was outside their body was a rare find indeed. Upon finding the problem Medens simply applied an incredibly concentrated dose of magic to fix it. Due to the magic's concentration and accuracy Medens was able to conserve a large amount of magic normally spent in procedures of the type and the man didn't suffer from any ill effects of excessive magic residue. All in all the man recovered nearly fully from death's doorstep in just a little over a minute, while Medens' uncle stood there dumb struck. Yes, that was something Medens was good at. Offensive magic, on the other hand... Well, he could zap someone pretty accurately, like sticking them with an electrified needle, but hitting multiple targets or doing massive damage, both trademarks of a good offensive mage, were not in his realm of expertise. I suppose it's time to begin training, then, Medens thought, and headed to the archer's firing range.

Ash watched as one of the men talking left and walked to what must have been a firing range. She followed him hopping silently from tree to tree. This could be a great opportunity to find out what her group was up against. If these guys are a threat, I'll have to send a message back to the main border. She sighed at the thought. Usually her group took care of things like this her father wouldn't be pleased. Then in her thought her foot slipped and she fell grabbing onto a branch before hitting the ground. She held her breath staying completely still incase he had noticed.

Desmond then drew his sword on the Captain and said, "I guess we should train as well." The Captain nodded, and the two of them headed out to the fighting pit which was located in the center of the camp.

While the other archers in the area paid it no heed, Medens decided to go and search out the source of the thud he had heard. From the Mana in his vicinity he knew that it was some living being, but he had no clue otherwise. He approached and looked into the bush to see a female elf. Initially taken aback, Medens soon got over his shock and offered her his hand. "I didn't know that we had an elf working for us as a double agent. I'm Medens and I'm kind of new here," he said. "Were you hurt in that fall?" he then proceeded to ask.

Desmond and Mallik proceeded in fighting, Mallik delivered four slashes from above, and then Desmond proceeded to block with his sheild. The training was going fine, Mallik then noticed Desmond was getting progressively better, and the next thing he knew he was pinned to the ground with Desmond standing over him. "What? Did you expect I'd never held a weapon before in my life? My dad is the General, and everyday I was reminded of that. II have trained every day up from the time I was four" ,Desmond said calmly.

Ash's eyes widened then realize the guy didn't knwo she was an enemy. She stood up and dusted herself off like she was supposed to be here. " I'm fine." She said finally said looking at him. " Figures nobody said anything." She mummbled, Maybe I can get information on what this camp is here for. She thought hiding her wrist behind her back which had a bracelet showing her faithfullness to the elven kingdom.

"Oh, well that's good. My name's Medens, what's yours? Oh, and why were you up in that tree in the first place?" Medens asked. It was incredibly unusual to see an elf in person. Medens had been only three when the war started, and elves were on the opposing side. Still, he had to wonder... Are all Elven girls this pretty?

" I'm Ash." She said not bothering to make up a name, if this went her way shshe would never be seen here again. " I was practicing my aiming......" She said, " You walking by startled me and i fell." She put her hand behind her head and smiled a looking embarassed. " So your a newby." She said trying to make herself friendly although she would like nothing more than to skewer this guy with an arrow.

Well Ash seemed nice enough. (If you haven't noticed already, Medens sees the best in everybody, even if it isn't there.) "Yeah, I'm pretty new here. I'm glad that you're okay. I guess I'll let you get back to your unconventional archery, and I'll get started on my offensive magic practice. It was nice to meet you!" he said and then turned to walk away.

Desmond decided to check out what was going on in the camp, and so he thought he'd also introduce Medens to some of their new brothers in arms. He flapped his wings and began to fly up to get a better vantage point. He felt free in the air, there's not much to see when you're standing on the ground, but up there the soldiers looked like ants. He also noticed that the archery range was full, but he really wanted to check out what Medens could do. He started flying that way as fast as he could, and secretly hoped to spook Medens a bit. He started chuckling at the idea of Medens jumping ten feet in the air as soon as he landed two inches infront of him.

Ash let out a sigh and dissapeared back into the trees. " That was way to close, good thing he was clueless as to who i was..." She told herself quietly looking at her bracelet. She took one last glance at the camp and jumped from tree to tree until she felt she was a good distance away and climbed down to walk. She glanced around a little remembering this area incase she needed a place to run, it seemed safe enough. Ash sat down in the grass not wanting to go back to the group just yet.

Medens was a little sad to see the pretty elf lady go, but he knew that he needed to get back to his training. "Okay, let's go for power this time, because control is sooo much easier for me," he mumbled to himself. Facing the far target he closed his eyes and focused in on the energy flowing without and within his body and the area surrounding him. He searched for the empty space, divoid of magic, with the realization that in the future his targets will be full of energy and life. Shuddering at the thought, he pushed it from his mind. Medens reached into the very core of his being and pulled out every ounce of energy he had, focusing it all into the space directly ouside from his hands, using them as shells with which to channel the energy. It cackled fiercly between his palms, the bright light reflecting off of the chrystalized formation within his eyes. When he pushed his hands forward to unleash the electrical energy, he finally realized the extent of power he had held within. The electricity, unpredictable and wild by nature, threatened to arch towards some of the other targets, trees, and worst of all, nearby archers. Through a great force of will, Medens managed to contain the blast to the target before him. As the target was hit, the sheer force of impact along with the energy it carried with it caused the target and it's surrounding area to explode catastrophically.

Noticing the pretty sparking explosion of the target, Desmond decided to make his move, and he landed within inches of Medens's face shouting, "MEDIC!" His wings flew wide open, and shot a powerful wind in either direction.

"THE ULTIMA IS THAT!?!?!" Medens shouted before quickly checking his pants. Good, they were still dry. "So I ask you a question before and that suddenly gives you the right to scare me out of my wits? What if I had been preparing another spell when you showed up?" He pointed to the pile of ash. "That could be you right now!" He was more scared than anything, but hid it behind a mask of anger.

Desmond frowned and said, "Well you seemed to be out of power. That's why I thought it'd be funny to suprise you. Also, I have a feeling we'll be good friends, especially since you are in the same squad as me!" He smiled, but then his face turned serious. "You have a rather long hair on your pant leg..." Desmond said, "All the men in this camp keep their hair short, and the women are all on the other side of the camp......did you go on some kind of escapade? You dog!!! What's her na...oh...wait....this is a serious problem, but don't worry I won't rat you out! What kind of a friend would do that? No, I'll cover for you, and get you some gear. If necessary I'll even try to hunt down your love, provide you with funds, and send you out to live amongst the Foresstor! It's not a grandeous life, but hey it's a living. I'll even tell the Captain some elf absconded with you. Don't worry leave it to me!!"

"Wait, wait, what?" Medens asked confused. The whole "hair on his pant leg" thing had gotten blown way out of proportion. "No, no! It wasn't anything like that! I don't have any kind of girlfriend and I want to fight in this war for all of us. We don't have near enough medics out in the war, anyways, and that's one of our strongest weapons! The other side has more numbers, but no way to efficiently heal their wounded." I wouldn't mind getting to know that one elf girl better, though, he thought to himself.

( oh my i haven't posted in a whileXD)

Ash stood up when she heard an explosion back in the direction of the camp. Did they just get themselves blown up? She wondered looking back in that direction. She shrugged and continued to head back to report the idiotic camp. These guys will be no problem. She thought smirking at the thought of that what she assumed was a new soldier. Ash walked into camp to see everyone asleep. " Wake up!" She yelled slightly annoyed. Is nobody standing guard? She wondered looking around the camp.

Then Desmond thought about why he came to Medens. "WAAIIIT! Come with me! We'll meet the other members of our ten man squad!!" Desmond yelled. He then began to walk off towards the tents and waited for Medens to follow him.

"Ummm, well okay, then," said Medens as he followed after Desmond. He had no idea what to expect, but the one ally he'd found so far was quite a character, and the elf girl was certainly unusual as well.

"Awright in that room are our eight companions. As you know we are part of a ten man squad. You, me, Berrin and Tolfa the Foresstor, Mallik and Setti the Anguul like me, and the four Gorrik which are Ballik, Mar, Therrford, and Bockus," Desmond said. He didn't explain their roles, but he simply just wanted Medens to meet them.

Once the group was awake Ash explained what happened silencing the few laughs with a glare.

" Anyways, as i left i heard some sort of explosion, and to avoid being caught again im bringing one of you with me to investigate. This camp may be more than we can handle. Also Ami since your the fastest runner i need you to send this message to the main border patrol." Ash handed a small piece of paper tied off by a string to a small girl with her own bow and arrows and watched as she ran off.

" Alright Xander your coming with me." She said standing up and straightening her bow string. She chose her second strongest archer to come with her.

"Umm, nice to meet you all," replied Medens nervously. "So I know what my function in this camp is supposed to be, I'll be your medic, and I'll also do my best to support with defensive spells and the odd electrical strike or two, but what're your jobs here?"

Berrin looked at his sister Tolfa and nodded, he then said,"Nice to meet ya, I'm Berrin and this is my twin sister Tolfa. Though we may look like stupid dogs, we're the intelligence group. We'll scout out a party, and then relay information back to the camp. Out of the humans one stepped forward, a man who looked to be about thirty and had red hair, smiled and said,"I'm Mar, and the short fat one is my nephew Ballik he's kinda new to the whole war thing.....but we're your front line guys. We specialize in hitting the enemy hard with relentless attacks." Another member of the Gorrik group stepped forward and said," I be Bockus, and that be me father Therrford. We used ta be sailors but now we joined in with the war cuz our buisness got rough...we're your archers. Though my father is a wee bit older than most, he has the eyes of a hawk, and the strength of a bull!"

Desmond whispered into Medens's ear,"Thus begins the pissing contest of how powerful they are." Then almost immediatly the group began to argue about which was most needed, and then it ended with them insulting Ballik's height. All in clean fun of course...

Medens took all of this in good-humoredly, but was then struck by an odd realization. "But wait, where's your Elven spy? Surely she'd be important enough to bring into this meeting?" he asked. He suddenly felt incredibly awkward as everyone turned on him with a mixture of confusion, hate, and fear evident on their faces. "Did I say something wrong?

Suddenly Captain Mallik appeared behind Medens. "We have no Elven spies...not in the entire army...did....you meet an elf?" Mallik asked calmly. His appearance was calm, but still intimidating. Desmond was horrified, to think, there was an elven spy so close when he had been playing games...what if she had wanted to kill him? His feathers would sell at an enormous price for a new Elven made pillow...he really didn't want to think about that....at all.
