Any one else have experience in this? I work at my family-owned deli and there are some crazy stories. Here's me venting about one, but feel free to share your experiences.
I work at a deli, but I hate it when people come in and give you a problem with prices. I hate it how they're all, "But that's so expensive!" or "Oh, then I won't take that sandwich you spent the last five minutes making and I'll have this muffin instead b/c it's cheaper." I want to lean over the counter and tell them "I don't make the prices you idiot!"
One lady just last week complained about her lox costing so much ($23.99 a pound, she had $5.50 of it) and how she needed to speak to a manager. The owner (aka my dad (: ) came out to explain that we actually have the CHEAPEST lox in the area (usually $29.99 a pound). The lady eventually simmered down and got ready to pay, and then I rung her up for the bagel that she put it on and the butter on it. She flipped and accused me of adding money to the cost, until I explained that the lox itself cost $5.50 and I wasn't going to give her a free bagel. She complained about the service, payed, and left. The service, really? The only good thing about that was that our sweet new employee (a cute 17 y/o girl) said to the lady in the sweetest voice as she left, "Have a nice day!" Priceless; that girl earned her tips that day!
