Net Applications' statistics for browser usage on personal computers.

(Credit: Net Applications)

"On traditional personal computers, Chrome has been on its way to pushing aside Firefox for the No. 2 spot, but the trend was interrupted in January. Firefox dropped from 21.8 percent to 20.9 percent, while Chrome dropped from 19.1 percent to 18.9 percent. Apple's Safari slipped a smidgen from 5.0 percent to 4.9 percent."

"

Microsoft is keen to replace IE6 with IE9 and, when Windows 8 arrives later this year, IE10. IE8 is still the single most used browser version, at 27.9 percent, but IE9 is rising and in January reached 11.6 percent."

"Another site, StatCounter, also monitors global browser usage. It measures aggregate browser usage on its network of sites, not trying to weight by country use or to screen by unique users. So in the case where an individual loaded 25 pages from a Web site on a particular day, Net Applications would tally it only as one individual for that day, but StatCounter would count 25 page views.

By StatCounter's measurements, IE has slipped down well below 40 percent of usage and Chrome has surpassed Firefox and is almost at 30 percent of usage."

Actually it wasn't. Google Chrome is expected to move into second place very soon.

GO CHROME!

hopefully chrome can take the lead. i gave up on IE 4 years ago to go with firefox because of its constant crashing, then firefox did the same. i then went with opera i was happy until it started to freeze, crash, and just ended up doing awesome shit so it lead to now google chrome and im happy as a lamb i wished i found it sooner though....http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/sleep.png i never bothered with safari it just seemed too....plain and base.

Only computer noobs use Internet Explorer. It helps them explore the awfulness that is using such a shocking browser. People were pretty excited by Mozilla. The idea of an inflamed fox brought much life to the imagination, but not to web browsing. They went on a Safari holiday, but realised it had no excitement and a surprising lack of flaming foxes. Everybody hates the Opera (except perhaps in phantom form). So who shall save the day but none other than the knight in shining Chrome armour :D

I have IE9, my whole family uses it and I don't see what's wrong with it. Although if I got my own laptop, I'd probably download Chrome and compare the two to see what I like better.

i used to use IE then i jump to opera then back to IE then FireFox and now Chrome and wehn i have to use the family computer i hate having to use IE DX

IE9 isn't bad it's really the older versions. But Google Chrome 16 is much better.

Although I hate IE, it will always remain the most used browser simply because most people don't know how to change their browser.
