Enemies with Hearts of Pure Light

Posted

In one Nomura interview the quote Maleficent tells Sora and co. about the enemies with “hearts of pure light” is shown.

Is this just a reference to the good, Spirit Dream Eaters or some sort of new enemy? Because being entirely light seems bad to me, even though Ventus was technically good having a completely light heart would destroy human morality as we know it. I thought this New Enemy had something to do with Unknown/Young MX but I want to know how the wise memebers of KH13 interpret this. (Nomura never references or explains this quote in any of his subseuent interviews so this is definately an interesting topic.)

Er... I think you just read a sketchy translation. "Enemies" of pure light doesn't sound right.

There was another thread about this not too long ago by nearly the same name. Anyway, I asked the translator and it turns out it was a mistake. The real translation is as follows:

—Sora and Riku set out to free the “hearts of pure light” and “seven keyholes of sleep” that Maleficent speaks of. Is their a connection between these two things?

Nomura: You’ll see when you play it, so please look forward to that. (Laughs.) The connections of the various mysteries and truths are what it builds up to.

I read the translations on the trailers and I didn't see any that said "enemies with hearts of pure light." It would be an interesting twist if there was a group that fought for light and intends to cleanse the universe of darkness in a way that Sora and the gang disapprove.

All the translations I use are from KH13 (as you are generally the most reliable), so if there are any mistakes it should be corrected on this website.
