Here is my take on one of the most popular theories amongst the KH fandom.....also this is going to be hard to wrap youre head around...but please read, and enjoy..
this Theory has been tossed around since about... Idk... the annoucement of BBS.,. :-/ but, heres my ver. (ver, 2.0 if you will)
It's pretty much a canon piece of information that Terra turns to the 'dark side'-- if you will-- by the end of the game... it's also pretty certain that something happens to our beloved Ventus... And,while when BBS was in its early stages it looked like Sunset Horizons was non-canonical, whereas now, we know that that whoolle scene is actually an in-game thing... so we can go by that...
so know, compare this all to something that has already happened- Riku gives in tot he darkness to defeat Roxas, inorder to wake up Sora...-
Terra gives in to darkness to defeat Vanitas/MasterXehanort, inorder to save Ventus....
That is just to strange... :-/ ... as you can see... these two events completley tie in... and right now youre asking 'Wat tha heckz does this have to do wit Tha Terra and Xehanort"
Well, I'm getting to that... so calm down....
Figuratively speaking, lets say something BAD..(painfully bad) happens to Ven... this breaks the ice with Terra, he runs after Master Xeahnort and Vanita's, but in this act of rage, his inner darkness is released.... he destroys or at least defeats all opposition.... and he finally comes face to face with his quarry..Master Xehanort... Whom after an epic battle he mortally wounds... in his last moments, MX transfers his soul/being/etc into Terra, with this, Terra loses his memories, his hair lengthensn and greys/silvers, his skin turns dark.. and his eye sturn color...like so:
As you can see,,, Terra, aka. Lingering Sentiment, aka, enigmatic soldier...aka. XEHANORT... is kinda, whacked out...
Again, I have an explanation for it...
If in fact Terra is the Xehanort we know and love, and thus his heartless was Ansem, and his nobody, Xemnas... then when Ansem and Xemnas were defeated, the body, soul, and heart once again came together... to re-create the original host... Terra... and as he was once again a complete being... and his memories foggy to say the least... he still had 'Xehanort' on the brain... mistaking Sora for said caricature... also, he remembers, /barely/ Aqua and Ven...
some say that LS isn't canon... but as he is an optional boss... and hes in a place (sunset horizons, the area the KH2 FM+ Secret Ending took place for all you out there who dont know) thats canon...its safe to say that Lingering Sentiment is more then likely canon as well, wouldnt you think?
But,,,, if he were the Nobody of a keyblade weilder... Why would Xemnas need Roxas' Keybalde? or Sora's? or Xion's?
Well.... simple... if Terra lost all memories... then he would forget how to use the keyblade would'nt he? And remember, when Riku's heart became weak... he lost the aility to weild... Terra's heart would have to be weak as well for him to give into darkness.... hmm? Xemnas, doesnt have a heart... or the memory... But Roxas could use the blade... and he didnt have a heart or memory... Roxas isnt like other Nobodiies, the rules dont apply/... and Xion is a figment of memories... and Riku's heart got stronger... this all = to:
