Well, my mom takes nine pills, and has a heart condition (Not too serious!), thyroid condition, and an acid reflux. She's fine with that, she has her meds. A few days ago she went to the doctor, (She's never been to this doctor before!). Now my mom has had this thing since my grandma died which was caused by stress to where she has a burnt-out esophagus. She ate out her esophagus, not literally. It is pre-cancerous, the doctor gave her meds and said that they'll have to give her a procedure where they put a camera in her throat. The reason they're doing this is because they think it might be cancerous now after 8 years. I really don't want this to be true. My mom says she's just worried and that's why sge's saying it, but how she says it makes me think otherwise that there's an 85% chance even though they're may not be. It could be lower. My mom always does this and is wrong. I hope she is now! What can I do?

Also, they won't be able to remove the cancer, so no it's not treatable. I think she's just worried but she makes it seem like she is definitely sure she has it... I know that's just her, but this is serious!

Relax..Ive had that test shes gonna have .Its precautionary and dont panic until theres actually a reason . I have Crohns and have to have many tests to make sure it doesnt develope into cancerous cells too.Its protocol with certain health issues to insure swift intervention in the beginning stages if it does turn cancerous.

Thank you, so she is just worried. I'm sorry for you that you have Crohn's. I heard about it, it's really bad from what I hear. So you have a pre-cancerous condition?

Axel is awesome!

Yes i love Axel/ Lea xD..Thanks .Crohns is a very painful crippling disease thats hard to control which is why i already lost part of my colon. But since theres no cure i just learn to live and deal with it. People with crohns are at a higher risk for colon cancer so it must be tightly monitored for early intervention if needed.

OK, but like I said, my mom ate out her esophagus, so when she got her first procedure in 2003, and it was pre-cancerous. It's been 8 years since then. She has taken great care of her health and has her meds, so do you think that she will still be pre-cancerous or has it become cancerous? My mom said it can't be treated if it is... So no intervention...

If they eradicated the precancerous situation years ago and she takes her meds and is mindful of her health the odds are better . However precancerous cells can return so its in her best interest to monitor the situation.I would like to tell you that its not a concern but i cant lie. I can advise you to not get worked up till its said otherwise..

They never eradicated the pre-cancerous cells, at least I think they never did. It's been pre-cancerous to this day, there were no cells. I'm hoping it's still pre-cancerous now, meaning that they can easily remove the cells without harm. She's never had to be treated for this before and she has a clean bill of health, they only saw her that one time and that was to actually determine what she had. So, don't promise me, but don't you think the odds are that she'll be fine?

When i had precancerous cells the surgeons removed them. So i would think they wouldve done the same to your mom but you said there was no precancerous cells. If so, why are they calling her condition precancerous? Thats usually what they mean by precancerous. Unless you are saying that bc she has a condition it makes her higher risk for it without actually having it.If thats the case the odds are pretty good she'll be ok.

Keep both yourself and her calm, There's no point about worrying what may not be true and we are not even going to discuss if maybe true but still this is the present so as long as it hasn't been announced if it's not treatable then there still maybe hope so just make sure you and your mother don't do anything stressful for that won't help you even if you think it will and just make sure your mother is allright and doesn't do anything stupid okay? That goes for you too and please just be safe,Calm down and relax and wait and hear what the doctor has to say first before panicking.

It seems bad! My mom says her Prilosec isn't working, or from what I've heard the insurance won't pay for it, meaning my mom won't be able to fix the esophagus problem, which is bad and she can't even eat and she's acting weird. Like she's doing things she usually doesn't do, making me think she probably has it. I don't know if this is her being worried or that this is how it's supposed to be. This is what God would do to me. Make me homeless, take our money when we were rich, and now my mom can't enroll me in college, can't see me make games. My mom says everything's fine, but they won't give her meds and some are different. I don't get this, her meds were fine last month and always before. It's over isn't it?
