It is an RPG game that plays something like the Final Fantasy Tactics series. The layout map is something like this:
and when you attack an enemy, it goes into A badass animation attack like what you've seen in the trailer above you.
As for the story,
You will be introduced to an original game character and you will level up your robot like any other RPG games and some additional upgrades to your robot. Like in the game trailer, you will be introduced to many of your anime robot series like the Mobile Suit Gundam series, Gurren Langan, Macross, Code Geass, and many more.
Now, I am a fan to the Super Robot Wars series only last year whereas it had been around and very popular in japan for 20 years and also popular to some western gamers.
For all I know as far as the story goes, the universe kinda goes into a time-dimensional battle as other worlds collide and fight the ones that are causing problems around the universe. So its up to you and other anime robot series to team and fight them. Kinda like 'The Avengers' but with robots.
There won't be any voice between dialogue and they only got voices during the attack animation so its quite japanese heavy. As for me, I kinda get the story and abit of the gameplay since I don't know japanese and I just breeze through the game without much trouble. Of course you can read the wiki to know the story if you want.
This game is quite import friendly if you want to experience the awesome battle animation and with the help of wiki, I think you will grow to love the game as you understand it more, though it may be a turn off to some if you're not the kind to that kind of RPG tactics game and doesn't really like the japanese wordings.
This is actually a sequel to the first game 'Destruction Chapter' that was released last year. If you guys are interested in this game, I will create another thread for it. If not, you can just check out the wiki here for an in-depth story and the moral of the Super Robot Wars games.
