Posted April 1, 201213 yr So what do you guys think distance really means? Is it the journey they had to take? The whole time traveling thing? How far Xehanort went for his plan to work ("I swore I would survive and be there to see what awaited beyond the keyblade war.")? Or what?
April 1, 201213 yr Author The feeling of distance between Riku and Sora during the game? Could be. Or it could be all these things. haha.
April 1, 201213 yr Well Nomura stated it was the perceived distance between Sora and Riku, which I think actually played out very cleverly. In Traverse Town, despite being in parallel worlds, they were able to communicate with each other. Then, as they gradually moved through the worlds, the distance between them became more obvious, what with different events unfolding for each in the separate worlds and then, by the time Prankster's Paradise came around, going to separate locations altogether within the same world. TWTNW is clearly the pinnacle of the distance, what with Riku effectively having to chase after Sora, only to discover he is trapped beyond his reach. Then of course comes the connotative distance between them in terms of perceived ability/worthiness, in that Riku is the only one made Master.
April 1, 201213 yr So the "dream" part described all the flashy actions and the realm itself. "Drop" was the whole droping into a dream thing, you know with the travelling sequence to the worlds and the drop gauge. As for "distance" I think that was describing how although Sora and Riku almost never made direct contact they were but a short distance away in the same worlds. Also the the distance Xehanort's plan went could be it too I think. Edited April 2, 201213 yr by ShiningFantasia12
