Oblivion 15 Posted January 2, 2010 There's going to be an animated 3D Spyro movie! Despite the fact that most video games/books are crappy as movies, I'm willing to give this a go. As much of an older fan I am, liking the older games and such, (Spyro the Dragon, Year of the Dragon, Ripto's Rage, ftw) this series is to be the first of its franchise, and follow the recent Legend Of Spyro trilogy games. That is, it follows the plot of The New Beginning, Eternal Night, and Dawn of the Dragon. For those unfamiliar with this, the plot should be along the lines of- A special dragon egg was hidden in a woodland full of dragonflies by Ignitus (the father figure wise dragon fire controlling old dude) to save the egg from baddies that wanted it. Brought up with his practically brother Sparx the dragonfly, who used to buzz cutely, until he was given an ever changing cast of talentless voice actors and shoved aside as comic relief... bad comic relief... I digress. Anyways, Spryo is raised to beleive he is a dragonfly... just that he's bigger... and purpler... and can breathe fire. Ha. Until one fateful day when the village is attacked and Spyro is found. Accidentally using his unusual powers, Spyro comes to realize he is unfortunately, not a dragonfly. Instead, he gets the wonderful job of being a hero of prophecy, the one purple dragon destined to save the world, blah blah blah. So what does her do? He gets Sparx, and goes on an adventure of epic proportions and attempt the impossible; to stop the dark master, the purple dragon turned bad, Malefor. However, between Spyro and Malefor stands Cynder, the female black dragon grown large beyond her years and powered by the red crystal around her neck, which enslaves her to the Dark Master. You like? Extra details include the director- Mark Dippe And voice actors- Gary Oldman as Ignitus Elijah Wood as Spyro Kevin Richardson as Terrador Jeff Bennet as Cyril Corey Burton as Volteer DATE: none official, but around april 2010 Discussion? Opinions? More info?

ObsidianEagle 103 Posted January 2, 2010 Yeah, the legend of spyro took the franchise completely the wrong way. now it's more combat based than adventure. but i remember when i first started on spyro, which was one of the gameboy advance versions. naturally, since it was on gameboy advance, i hated it and after i got a ds i smashed it with a hammer. but about a year after getting the GBA one, we were on holiday and were stopping off for a night in LA. there there was a PS1 connected to the tv, where we played spyro the dragon. the best PS1 game i've ever played. a few years ago i got enter the dragonfly, which got me many hours of enjoyment. but i never played it all the way through again, because it isn't a game you get addicted to. a couple of years ago, a hero's tail game out. i really loved that game, and i did play it through several times. then i was really looking forward to a new beginning. got it. played it until i got about 20% through. took it out. put it in the box. THE END. it wasn't bad enough to smash with a hammer, but not good enough to actually play i might buy it on Blu-ray, but i won't be seeing it in the cinema unless i hear really good reviews
Tom 437 Posted January 2, 2010 I agree with got it memorized. I don't think the movie will work for me. The orginals were the best, especially Year of the Dragon The old ones involve fun characteristics, not too hard bosses, gem collecting, playing as other characters (Goes to Year of the Dragon), cool minigames and Sparx not talking and just buzzing. The new ones involved battling and fighting (which I can't understand why they would do that), no minigames, crappy hard bosses, and just plain bad actors. Don't think I will go see this movie. Oblivion 15 Posted January 3, 2010 yeah. hes really annoying. I actually hated a hero's tail or at least watching my bro play it perfectly for 3 hours, then attempting it and failing. i used to like sparx, yeah. and i hate how he and spyro are all buff now, i liked them scrawny/
