If Nobodies have NO hearts..... shouldn't they be called "Heartless"?

Featured Replies

Heartless are called heartless because they appeared to Terranort as having no feelings. Nobodies are called nobodies because they don't really exist.

inb4 game design plotholes.

At this point, I think Nomura named the Nobodies ironically. We realized the Heartless actually had hearts, so when it came to the part left behind, the body, he just went and said there wasn't one. No-body. Taadaa irony.

And since Nobodies are made up of a person's body and soul, and Heartless are just darkness, Heartless should be called Nobodies. Proof that Nomura did not think this through.

Nobodies acctually do not have hearts in beginning. They can cultivate new ones in time through various emotions. This has worked for Roxas, Namine and Axel

tutti frutti. I mostly thought that the easiest way to understand this is to go with their names. The way I've always looked at it is like this: Heartless = No Hearts; Nobody = No actual body, so thus they don't exist. But what you said had always puzzled me. Two beings, both without hearts. At the same time, I've always wondered why the emblem Heartless have hearts inside of them even though they are still dubbed Heartless. I have to agree with Keyblade Master Xine, I don't think that Nomura did not completely think this through when he started the series.

The emblem heartless capture hearts from other people to make more heartless, but I always wondered why people say that nobodies don't exist when they're obviously right there. What does it mean for a nobody to "not exist"?
