CHAPTER 1: LIFE TAKES A TURN

Jarry begin his morning like always. He reached school and was in his first period class. The school year had started over again, and he was now in the tenth grade. The class was filling in one by one. Jarry had arrived first since he liked to have time to write in his journal. He looked around as people filled in the classroom. He saw that some of his friends had come into the class, but he just smiled at them and kept writing.

Alison was at her new locker getting it ready for the year. She always made sure that her locker had some style to it. She finished by putting a picture of her family. "There, a new year, a better look." She looked at the time, "Time for class." She said. She walked to her classroom and went inside. She looked around at everyone while she was coming in. She then noticed a boy writing in a journal. She sat down beside him and pulled out her notebook. She started drawing a picture of a rose.

NIght recieved Hawk's message. "SOS?" Night said to himself. "Oh no, something must have happened." With that he took off from the bathroom and went outside to the back of the school. "This is where he went, I think?" Night said.

A hand pushed Night down to the ground.

"Whoa!" Night said as he got pushed. He fell hard. "Ouch." He jumped up and turned around. "Who's there?"

All the same, there was no one there.

"What the-?" Night said as he looked around. He the remembered that Jarry said that someone pushed him. Deciding he had tripped and that he was paranoid, he turned back around to look for Hawk. "He was back here, right?" he asked himself.

The hand fell on Night again, but this time it went to Night's throat and started to squeeze hardly.

Night gasped and suddenly couldn't breath. He tried to turn around but he couldn't due to the hand on his throat. He couldn't do anything to fight back, and struggling only cost him more breath. "H'ck, h'ck..." Desperately, he reached into his pocket, took out his phone, and attempted to dial Nessa's number as he lost consciousness. He lost consciousness as soon as he pressed the call button, and dropped the phone. 'Nessa...hurry...' he thought right before he blacked out.

Hawk's eye slowly opened... playing dead was one of the tricks he learned for this situation... but he was still weak

He screwed a new top to the projectile shooting it in the air. red fog was surrounding him and the whole area. It was a powder especially made for hunters, it boosted his senses, soon the powder disappeared, but not in Hawk's eyes he could still see living, undead and creatures of any kind things the fog touched in a red glow, even through walls... the eye of the lifeless... that was the name of this Shadowslayer technique invented by Abraham Van Helsing's direct grandchild.

 

He saw Night struggling.

 

Hawk tried to get up, but still was very weak, so he slowly climbed down from the roof.

"No one will ruin our plans, espically the dragonborn. Now time to mess with your mind." the voice said. the invisiable hand went into Night's head and messed with his mind. "There now the dragon will only focused on dancing with Nessa and then he will turn into a dragon and attack her." the voice said and the invisiable creature disappeared.

(No! NEVA! Just kidding, sure. I'll do it. I don't really have much choice anyway. Is this gonna be permanent thought? By the way, please note that Night can't turn into a full dragon next. I've divided it into 4 levels [Fourth being full Dragonhood] and Night is only able to reach level 2 at the moment.)

(Well he doesnt need to turn into full dragon, just use some of his powers. No it wont be permanet. It is just supposed to be until after the dance, I have a plan.)

Hawk tried to run, but nearly fell down, slowly he was approaching Night, trying to stay on his feet.

"I shouldn't have led him here... "

He screwed a new top to the crossbow projectile, he aimed for the red shade, that represented Night he saw as he turned around the corner. "Are you alright?" He asked and slowly lowered his crossbow.

"What?! Well, that's great news! I'll find Night and Hawk and tell them. Mermaid, huh? Never would've guessed." Nessa felt herself relax a little. "What, Night calling again? Hello?" But no one answered. "Oh no, not good, not good." She quickly went back to Jarry. "Jarry, Night and Hawk are in trouble. If I don't come back in ten minutes, call me and if I don't answer I'm in trouble. I'm going to the back of the school."

"Nessa, no. You still dont have all your powers learned yet. I will go find them, you just come to the music room and watch over Alison until she drys off." Jarry said rushing out the door.

Night began to wake up. "Man, that was not fun," he said. "I hate feeling helpless." He stood up. "I suppose we should head back for the dance then?" he asked Hawk.

Nessa scowled in the darkness. "Fine. But if you don't come back, I'm going to have to save all of you." She muttered into her phone, and walked in the direction of the music room. She saw Jarry run by, and walked in. "Alison?" she asked, stopping after seeing Alison's tail. "Well, you certainly aren't the monster." she observed.

"Alright, it's too dangerous out here anyways." He stored the crossbow in his sportsbag. Did you see where the attacker came from.?" before night could answer Hawk sniffed. "You don't smell like yourself... are you felling alright?"

"Well, considering I was just strangled, I guess that I'm alright," Night said. "And about my smell, in my defense I haven't showered in a couple days." He looked dazed for a moment, then snapped at attention. "Man, on second thought, my head's killin' me..."

'Get in there' a voice whispered in Night's brain.

 

"Geez, you dont think. Man, I hate this whole tail thing, I just cant move." Alison said laughing.

 

Jarry walked outside trying to see if he could find Night or Hawk. He searched the area, but he couldnt find them. "Maybe I am on the wrong side?" Jarry said walking back inside.

"You know," Night said to Hawk, "I'm getting the sudden urge to go inside."

"I can understand that... I don't feel very safe outside anymore...

and for the smell... I didn't mean that kind of smell, I meant your scent... your human scent... it's not very pure... smells... undead... but I think because I got strangled my senses confuse it with the scent of your inner dragon..."

Hawk headed inside, but still kept a hidden eye on Night.

"Like I said, haven't showered," replied Night, who also headed inside.

Nessa laughed, and examined Alison. "So I guess this happened when you got wet? Jarry said I should stay here until you were dry. Are there any towels in here?" Nessa asked, looking around the room.

"I dont think there are. I turned into this after Jarry splashed me with sea water after he expected something after I made water from a bottle explode all over the place. I somehow can move water into the way I want." Alison said.
