CHAPTER 1: LIFE TAKES A TURN

Jarry begin his morning like always. He reached school and was in his first period class. The school year had started over again, and he was now in the tenth grade. The class was filling in one by one. Jarry had arrived first since he liked to have time to write in his journal. He looked around as people filled in the classroom. He saw that some of his friends had come into the class, but he just smiled at them and kept writing.

Alison was at her new locker getting it ready for the year. She always made sure that her locker had some style to it. She finished by putting a picture of her family. "There, a new year, a better look." She looked at the time, "Time for class." She said. She walked to her classroom and went inside. She looked around at everyone while she was coming in. She then noticed a boy writing in a journal. She sat down beside him and pulled out her notebook. She started drawing a picture of a rose.

Night/Draco powered off his beams. "Yes, I am well aware of what a fairy tale is. Supposedly, I AM ONE!"

Jarry was in his room in his house. He had the door locked and decided to go out on his balcony. He looked up at the stars, "Me the monster, as if. I told them, I am not the monster, if I was I would have killed myself years ago. Maybe it would have been a good idea to just have killed myself that day, at least Alison still believes in me. It helps to know that one person would stand up for me like that against a slayer of one of the most powerful." Jarry said.

Night crashed through Jarry's window and put a knife to his throat in one fluent motion, fury evident on his face. "No Alison to protect now. Make one move and I'll slit your throat!"

"Night, I am not the monster. If I was a monster, I am pretty sure I would have known about it a long time ago." Jarry said not trying to move so he wouldnt get hurt.

Night broke into an evil grin. "Nice try, but it all makes sense! We first found it by your car, you described yourself as a beast on the roof, you came as soon as the monster left! You lied about how you blacked out! If it works as yo say it does, I would have passed out to! And you had the journal in the end!" His voice rose as he spoke. He pulled out his shotgun and aimed it at Jarry's head. "It's loaded with silver bullets; give me proof that you're not the monster before I blow out your brains!"

"Let me ask you a question. Why would I try to hurt you, Hawk, and your secret crush. I am a selfish person who cares mainly about himself, but you cant really think I am a killer. And maybe in some reality I dont even exist. I was supposed to have a twin, but he didnt make it out alive. So maybe in some reality, I didnt make it out and my twin did. But really I am not a monster killer, you have to believe me. I would never try and kill anyone that I didnt have to." Jarry said starting to have tears come out of his eyes.

Nessa was back in her room, her dad was asleep, unaware she'd left. What now? she wondered. She hopped off her bed, hitting her toe on something. "Ow, ow, ow!" she muttered, bending down to see what it was. It was a book titled the 'Grimmerie'. Opening the book, she found a note from her sister. Reading it, she whispered aloud what it said. "I'm a witch." Flipping through the pages, exhilarated, she found a section about 'Evil Particulars'. "I've got to show this to the others!" she exclaimed excitedly. She knew where Jarry's house was, and sneaked out the window. Coming to his house, she saw Night and Jarry on the balcony. "Oh, not again." Nessa mumbled, hoisting herself up a tree to see what was wrong this time.

"Gmork... the evil wolf nightmares...

Grim the good wolf of dreams...

Fenrir.. wolf of absolute evil

Luminus wolf of absolute good."

Hawk closed the black book

"Crap... I hope it isn't too late..."

He stood up and started to run towards Jerry's house

"Now it all makes sense!"

His lungs nearly killed him.

As he reached the house he saw night and Jerry.

He broke the door open.

"NIGHT WAIT!!!

He isn't the monster! Well not the evil one!"

Hawk wasn't armed so he had to rely on his knowledge.

Night grit his teeth. One could see the conflict in his eyes. He looked at Hawk with pleading eyes. "You have proof he's not the monster...?"Night asked, trying hard to ignore the tears in Jarry's eyes, and the ones forming in his own.

Nessa hopped down next to Hawk. "He's right! I found something, too!" she said, panting slightly. "Just put the knife down, and we can talk about it." Why is everyone assuming Jarry's the bad guy? she wondered tiredly.

Night did as he was told and brought the knife down. But the shotgun stayed trained on Jarry. "All right," he said, turning his back to Jarry. "What did you two find out?" He looked at Jarry. "And you, stay where you are."

"I have no proof that he's not the monster, but I never said he wasn't.

Remember the good wolf? Due to shadowslayer history every greater wolf has an opposite wolf that stands for exactly the opposite thing then the evil one does.

Even if he was the wolf or the monster he wouldn't remember it at all. Or have you ever heard of a werewolf that can remember when he turns into a monster?

And the possibility that the evil wolf has just mixed up 2 realities is also very hight, maybe in another reality Jerry is the monster, but our Jerry has no clue about it.

I know it's very hard to explain but at least try to understand..."

Hawk had to think how he should explain what he has found out, then an idea shot through is head.

"Silver! I know how to test if he's a werecreature or not."

Hawk looked at Nessa.

"Do you have your silver knives on you?"

"Here's a butterknife. It's silver," Night said, tossing one to him.

"Jerry, I won't cut you..."

Hawk carefully laid the knife on Jerry's hand with the dull side.

"Does that burn?"

He hoped from the depth of his heart that the Answer would be no.

But his blood wanted that the answer was yes so he could cut him open right away.

Jarry didnt know why, but he could feel a burn and coldness from the silver knife. He didnt want to say what he really felt, but the knife became to much that he just had to get away. He pulled himself away from the knife and fell to the left corner on the balacony on the ground. He was silvering and had the look of terror on his face. He couldnt speak or move because he was so scared.

"Don't judge him too soon..."

Hawk said with a serious look on the face.

"We only know that he's a were-creature but we still don't know which one.

The codex says that unlike a Vampire those creatures have to be still categorized as human beings. I'm only allowed to kill them if there's no other way, also if the lives of others or mine is threatened. There has to be a cure, or a use for him, it depends on which creature he is. I've heard of Shadowslayers that hunt alongside with a good Wolf that has no interest in harming humans and feed only on animal and undead flesh."

Hawks blood hated that part of the Codex but right now he felt that it was a good thing that he wasn't allowed to kill.

Night shook his head. "Man, you have a lot of rules. Dragonborn don't follow that many rules," he said. "Is there ny way to test which monster he is?"

"The codex is what differences the Shadowslayers of mere hunters."

Hawk glared back at Night

"The only way that I can think of is to have a look at his journal if the realities have merged together then we should find some clues there"

"Or, I could just tell you." a teen boy said walking into the room. He was tall, had brown hair, but was a little bit younger than Jarry. "I came to find out what noise I heard over here and this is what I get for it. My name is Matt, I am Jarry's younger brother by one year." Matt said.

Hawk looked at Matt, then he looked at the door he broke down.

"Um I'll pay that as soon I have money on me, I promise.

But more important, What do you know?"

Hawk was now even more interested in the situation as he was before, but he tried to keep calm.

"I know just about everything, father trusted me to tell me about our family tree. We have wolf blood in our vains along with human blood. Jarry was never supposed to find out like this, but I guess the time has come anyways. You see, Jarry is the next up in the family line to become the wolf of the family. You see, powers like his dont start until they are in their tenth grade year. I have known about what he would become and I kept my eye on him for the longest time to protect him. But he is truthful, he is a beast at times, but is not a monster. He is a protector wolf, which means he watches over those in need whenever they need it, but he doenst know what he does cause he hasnt gotten the power to remember and control his wolf form yet. But he is also a human being, and he didnt ask for this power, he just has it. Just like him, I didnt ask for my abilities either, but I have them now so I must deal with that." Matt said.

"If he's the protector wolf I suppose you are the opposite. Of course I can be wrong but I wan to make sure that I understand anything".

- So Jerry's a good wolf what means I don't dishonor the codex if I fight alongside with him -

Then he had to think about his father.

-I wonder if he has a wolf companion...-

"Quite the opposite, I am no wolf at all. My powers go way beyond that of our time. I am nerely impossible to be such a creature, for my powers are inside of me, not outside." Matt said.

Night bit his lip and slowly pulled the shotgun away from Jarry. He then looked down, either in thought or in shame. "So Jarry isn't the evil wolf? But...I wouldn't have done this unless I was certain...it all made sense..." Night began. He looked at Jarry. "Jarry, I am so sorry. If it helps, the shotgun wasn't even loaded. But it all made sense though, so I...." He didn't know what else to say. He just looked down.

Jarry was too shocked by all that was happening around him that he couldnt even move. He didnt even process what Night had said to him. He was just not able to move, think, he could barley breathe.

Nessa looked at Matt in surprise. "I didn't know Jarry had a brother. Huh." she glanced over at Jarry, and saw him shivering in the corner. "Jarry? Are you ok?" she turned to Matt. "Is it possible for wolves to go into shock?"
