CHAPTER 1: LIFE TAKES A TURN

Jarry begin his morning like always. He reached school and was in his first period class. The school year had started over again, and he was now in the tenth grade. The class was filling in one by one. Jarry had arrived first since he liked to have time to write in his journal. He looked around as people filled in the classroom. He saw that some of his friends had come into the class, but he just smiled at them and kept writing.

Alison was at her new locker getting it ready for the year. She always made sure that her locker had some style to it. She finished by putting a picture of her family. "There, a new year, a better look." She looked at the time, "Time for class." She said. She walked to her classroom and went inside. She looked around at everyone while she was coming in. She then noticed a boy writing in a journal. She sat down beside him and pulled out her notebook. She started drawing a picture of a rose.

"Werewolfs are just like people with the exception of having a wolf form and a human form, so yes Jarry can go into shock." Matt said.

Night was still looking down. "It's possible for anything to go into shock..." he said quietly. "I'm...still in shock..."

"Well I'm kinda relieved... I thought the situation was much worse."

Hawk smiled again.

"How is this not not that bad!" Night shouted. "We don't know much more than we already did, and I just put a knife an an empty shotgun to Jarry's freaking head!" He pounded the wall, and his eyes got that yellow glow again.

Hawk was still calm and smiling

"Yes, but now that situation is over.

And in addition we have found a strong companion, think of what might could be if he was the evil wolf?

It would be still the same if you shot him, because this man couldn't be made responsible for his deeds.

Also the fact that his brother has knowledge about the creature he is can help us a lot, an mostly him.

Can you imagine what advantages we had if Jerry learned to control the beast inside him?"

"Well I would be glad to help you anyways I can. However, it is not that easy for a person to become one with their other side, I could barley do it myself. Anyways, I can help you find your monster, I have a lead that the monster goes to our high school." Matt said.

Night sighed and shook his head. "And even when I'm wrong, my theory still makes sense..." He sighed again. "All right, who is it?"

"I have the slightest clue. I can barely be around my own brother, yet along another wolf creature. Anyways, all I know is that the monster you seek goes to your school." Matt said.

"So we have to lure him or her out somehow... I will study my books how the ancient shadowslayers acted if they had to pick a werecreature out of the crowd without drawing attention to them..."

Hawk always was curious on how his order was able to slay the undead and werecreatures but still stayed hidden.

"Or we can just wait until someone scratches their feet," Night suggested sarcastically.

"If it was that easy, I would know who it is by now. I can usually just snif anything with blood in it out, but I fear that this monster is too powerful to use my powers to. By the way, which ones of you is fully human?" Matt asked.

Night thought for a moment. "I think that that would be Alison, Nessa, or Hawk," Night said. "Not me. I have dragon blood flowing through me." 'Boy, you finally figured it out?' Draco said. Night shook his head. "Well, no. And where have you been?"

"Well, the shadowslayer order bears the burden of a special blood, but it doesn't make us inhuman I think. The order was founded with the idea that the human was the strongest life-form and the undead and wherecreatures had no right to hunt our kind down."

Hawk started to think, something from his book came in mind.

"Dad!" he smiled.

"Of course, he was the only one able to pick creatures out of the crowd nowadays, while being unseen...

He used silver powder or dried essences of holy water and polluted the air conditioning in the area with them."

Night looked at Hawk. "That might actually work. Better than my methods," he said, gesturing towards Jarry. "Seriously, sorry about that bro!"

"Okay first off, Jarry is in too much stock to hear you at the moment. So I will make sure to treat him back to normal, but that will take time so he might be better tomorrow. Second, a shadowslayer can do much more than normal humans and creatures can. So, you have the best bet to bring out the monster, but watch out because your blood is still considered human. There are some creatures that will try and take your blood from you for a snack. I should know." Matt said.

"My father lived with that curse, so I think I can do it too without get killed by some bloodthirsty thing...

I'll use the alchemy laboratory my father left me to create the powder we need... could take the whole night, if you want you can visit me, it's gonna be pretty boring all alone. Well I'm off.."

 

Hawk jumped from the balcony and went home

"I guess thats that. Of course, there just had to be a monster at our school." Nessa muttered. "I need my sleep, see you tomorrow." She got down and headed home,.

Night rubbed his head. "Well, I guess that just leaves me..." he said sheepishly. "Heh heh...You aren't mad, are you? You know, for bringing your brother too the point of shock and tears?" He laughed nervously. "Right?"

Matt's look on his face turned to unpleasant. He then put a hand on Night's shoulder, "If you ever come near my brother with a knife, gun, or any type of weapon again, I will pleasantly have the honor to make sure your own parts are scattered everywhere with the slightest drop of blood left. Do I make myself clear?" Matt asked in an angry tone.

Night gulped. 'Shoulda just shut up and left...' he thought. He gulped. He could tell this guy was serious. "Hey, in my defense, my theory was a pretty good one that made sense! Besides, the gun wasn't even loaded," he said, holding the shotgun up and showing him that it was empty. "And also, I think that this makes us even for that one time at school he brought me to the point of tears." He backed towards the window. "And out of curiosity, if you're 100% human, how can you carry out that threat? No, seriously, I wanna know."

"I told ya, I have powers of my own. I am only part human, the other half, well everyone should be able to figure that part out. And as I told you, Jarry cant control his temper from his wolf side sometimes so he really didnt say that to you, his wolf side did. And that theory was just an illusion created by the monster, and you fell for it." Matt said. He took a sniff from Night's scent. "Man, I never had a half dragon half human before, I should really try and that sometime. The only reason I didnt today was because of your little girlfriend." Matt said with a laugh.

NIght blushed. "W-what?!" he cried. "G-g-girlfriend?" He looked away, but realized his mistake and looked back. "I, er, have no idea what your talking about!" He tried to change the subject. "D-dude, you just sniffed me! Tha's so wrong!" He knew that it would probably get him in deeper crap, but at least Matt would avoid the subject.

"Come on, I can hear, smell, and see the way you are around Nessa, I am not dumb. I know that your heart skips a beat, I know your breath goes away for a second, I know your blood turns warm whenever you see her." Matt said.

Night looked at Matt with a disturbed look on his face. "Dude, the fact that you know everything that goes on in my body is a little creepy..." Night said, once again trying to avoid the subject. 'Ha! I knew you liked her!' Draco said. "Shut up!" Night said.

"Well I didnt ask to be the way I am today, but once you are bitten, you are never going back. I guess I should be a traditor to my family and friends, but I wiether be there for them like I never changed in the first place. Really, I dont want to be able to decode anyone, everyone, but I am forced to live with that side of me." Matt said.
