CHAPTER 1: LIFE TAKES A TURN

Jarry begin his morning like always. He reached school and was in his first period class. The school year had started over again, and he was now in the tenth grade. The class was filling in one by one. Jarry had arrived first since he liked to have time to write in his journal. He looked around as people filled in the classroom. He saw that some of his friends had come into the class, but he just smiled at them and kept writing.

Alison was at her new locker getting it ready for the year. She always made sure that her locker had some style to it. She finished by putting a picture of her family. "There, a new year, a better look." She looked at the time, "Time for class." She said. She walked to her classroom and went inside. She looked around at everyone while she was coming in. She then noticed a boy writing in a journal. She sat down beside him and pulled out her notebook. She started drawing a picture of a rose.

Night/Draco powered off his beams. "Yes, I am well aware of what a fairy tale is. Supposedly, I AM ONE!"

Night just looked at her. "Dude, I explained the whole thing to you. Were you listening at all?" he asked.

"You said your story, but you didnt mention a thing about Jarry being scared about a silver knife. So I must hear the truth instead of hearing a lie. Is Jarry a werecreature or not? The truth." Alison said crossing her arms.

"Yes he is... but not the evil one, he will aid us in battle I think. Trust me you don't have to worry, he is a wolf, but I don't think he hunts humans..."

Hawk had a serious look on his face.

"So don't panic, he is still half human, there is a cure, and we will find it after this is over..."

Hawk hoped he could prevent Alison from worrying to much.

"As soon as what is over? Jarry will not make it when he has to battle that horrible monster at the dance. There is nothing we can do to prevent that." Alison said. One could tell that she had fear in her eyes.

Night sipped his drink and stood up. "You can back out now if you want. I won't stop you, nor will I blame you. Your afraid, I can understand that." He paused and then continued. "But remember, you're not alone in this. Each of us are willing to give our lives to stop whoever is going to attack the dance. We will support you."

"Well... Jarry's got something the monster hasn't... US."

I will set up a small camp near the party to test some new machines on that monster, mostly new ammo for the crossbow... but I'm loosing track... Nigt is gotta be there too, and that guy may be a bit clumsy and not the best fighter I know, but he's got the heart, and I've seen you last time with you sword, even through you did not so much to kill the monster I think you could pack quite a punch.."

Hawk inhaled.

"Maybe we can stop that thing before the party..."

Alison sat there in the chair looking down at the floor. "I just dont want to loss him." Alison then looked back at Night and Hawk. "I think I know who the monster is, it is clearly stated in Matt's riddle." Alison said with a low voice.

Haw was surprised Alison knew about the monster

"So we don't need the powder?"

Hawk asked.

-I sure should swap books with her some day...- He thought.

"Well Matt's riddle was 'The monster is the person who Jarry wouldnt let you harm in a million years' or something like that. So I think I know who the monster truely is, but the monster cant control his/her powers either. It is screaming in pain inside even though it doesnt know that." Alison said.

"I don't know Jerry as good as you do, I just moved to this country this year... Any suggestions what we should do now?"

The Shadowslayer knew even through he was the expert on creatures of the moon and night, he should let Allison decide how he should operate.

"Well, there is only one thing to do............" Alison stood up and closed her eyes. "Kill the source of the problem while Jarry isnt here, kill the one who has done more damage than good, the one who doesnt know anything about changing into a monster....." Alison opened her eyes, "Kill me" Alison said.

Hawk already had a hunch that it was her, but he just looked down at his shoes.

"I can't, the codex forbids me... I can lock you up... cage you, weaken you maybe even cure you... but I'm unable to kill you."

The Shadowslayer finished his cigarette, but to keep cam he enlightened a second one.

"You may didn't expect that from me, you may have thought that I'd say I can't kill you because you are one of my friends, but the only barrier now why I can't kill you is the codex. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate you, but at the same time it's my blood that tells me my duty is to keep the human race safe from things as yourself... I am sorry."

Night gritted his teeth. "No. We're not going to lock her up. It's not right. We dont' even have proof that she's the monster. She's not jus some animal."

"Yes I am, I killed millions of lifes even though I dont know that once I change back to human. It makes sense it would be me since I dont remember anything that happens once the monster shows up and I am never there when it does. I belong locked up, chained up where I cant harm anyone." Alison said with a loud voice and tears rolling out her eyes.

Night looked at her in disbelief. "Millions? Isn't that an overstatement?" Then he looked at Hawk. "We honestly can't lock her up, can we? She's a human being! Besides, we thought that Jarry was the monster too and we were wrong! Are we really going to make that same mistake again?" He turned to Nessa. "You agree, right?"

"One body down is one too many... I think we have no other choice... just until after the party...

But I hate to say that silver chains are the only thing that could hold a wolf back... it'll be like torture, the metal burning in her wrists... I know it's asked much and you'll say no, but right now I'm hoping for someone else to give her a quick painless death... because I think locking her up under these conditions is even worse then death..."

Hawk had to think but there was no other idea that came to mind.

"If I won't even let you lock her up, what makes you think I'll kill her?" Night shook his head. "Forget your shadowslayer training for a moment. What does your heart tell you to do?"

Nessa looked at Alison with wide eyes. "I agree with you Night." she said numbly. She had only known Alison for a few days but she didn't seem the type to kill 'millions' of people. "Well, you aren't doing it out of your own free will, right? That must count as something." We can't go 12 hours without killing someone. "Hawk, come on, we don't have to chain her up right away." All this talk of killing Alison, or chaining her before asking questions was begining to frustrate her.

"Wait a moment, I know how we can figure this out! I'm stupid for not thinking of it before!" He pulled out one of his butterknives(which are silver, by the way) and put the flat of the blade against her arm. "Does this hurt at all?" he asked her.

Hawk was psychically absent and in thoughts.

-What my heart says?-

-I'm a Shadowslayer now...this titles comes with duties and responsibility my heart has now only second priority, my blood is what counts. All I do, I do for the Shadowslayers. Every action of mine is determined to them, I just can't have the comfort to follow my heart.

Just as Jarry, Alison backed away but didnt fall into shock. "Well that determines that, I felt a cold yet hot pain from that silver. So, I guess I truly am a monster, but I still have a heart because I can feel real love. But now I dont think I will be able to live the future that I wanted. But that explains the journal part since I have a journal of my own." Alison said in a sorta Katherine Pierce, from The Vampire Diaries, tone.

"Okay, I guess that solves something. But it still doesn't determine whether or not your a killer," Night said. praying that he wouldn't be forced to attempt to kill someone.

"Let me see, I harmed you with fire balls, I tried to kill Nessa, and I grew spikes out of my body to get rid of Hawk. I think that clears that I am a monster." Alison sat down and looked at the ground while tears went down her face. "I even harmed Jarry, I am a monster that deserves to die or be chained up for the rest of my life." Alison said.

"Well, if you are the monster, you said it made two different realities, right?, so it's not really you," Nessa said, gestursting to Alison. "that's doing the harm." Why is it always us that has to kill someone? "There has to be a way to cure you. Death isn't always the answer." she added, sending a sharp look in Hawk direction.

"No, but my duty..." he whispered.

"As said imprisoning her would be even worse than killing her, because the only thing that could hold her back are silver chains, and you have just seen how hurtful the touch with a simple silver knife was.

Also I don't know If I should trust Jarry's little brother, maybe he wants do defend him so he says Jarry is the good one..."

Hawk had no clue what to believe or to do.
