CHAPTER 1: LIFE TAKES A TURN

Jarry begin his morning like always. He reached school and was in his first period class. The school year had started over again, and he was now in the tenth grade. The class was filling in one by one. Jarry had arrived first since he liked to have time to write in his journal. He looked around as people filled in the classroom. He saw that some of his friends had come into the class, but he just smiled at them and kept writing.

Alison was at her new locker getting it ready for the year. She always made sure that her locker had some style to it. She finished by putting a picture of her family. "There, a new year, a better look." She looked at the time, "Time for class." She said. She walked to her classroom and went inside. She looked around at everyone while she was coming in. She then noticed a boy writing in a journal. She sat down beside him and pulled out her notebook. She started drawing a picture of a rose.

Night's mom was driving them to their new home, while talking to him. "So, you talked to a girl, huh? Was she cute?" she asked. "What!?" Night asked in shock. "You were watching us?" "Well, I didn't want to interrupt." Night slapped his head. "Mooooom, we just moved here. What's your problem?" They then saw the ruined car. "What the..." Night wondered. And then he saw Nessa's car. "Mom, I'm getting out." Without waiting for an answer, he ran toward Nessa's car to see if she had seen what had happened.

The howling got closer and closer to Nessa until it finally stopped. The thing that made the noise was silently waiting behind Nessa before making its move. It waited for the perfect operationatity to attack. When Night came over, the thing made sure to not make any moves and waited for them to become weak enough to attack.

Night approached Nessa. "Yo, Nessa, what happened here?" he asked, noticing the trail of blood from the car. 'Something wrong here, we're not alone,' he thought.

Nessa picked up her phone, and sighed in relief. "Man, didn't think I'd see you here." she looked ver the car and shook her head. "I have no idea. I don't think I want to know." Ever get that feeling your being watched? "We gotta call the police." she stated simply.

"Or" Night said, grinning and rubbing his hands together. "We can check it out for ourselves." He then ran toward the wreckage to get a closer look, despite the uneasy feeling he had. "Come on, what are you waiting for?"

Just as Night was coming over to the car, a journal fell out of the car. The journal was not harm in anyway whatsoever, with everything else being destoried. The thing hiding kept an eye on Night. If Night were to touch the journal, the creature would attack him.

Night looked at the wreckage. "Hoo-boy." He then saw sowething on the ground- a book? "Hey, Nessa, I found something!" he called to her, picking up the book.

Hawk walked through the forest, something drove him to this place.

"Man I love that rain... clears the lungs..."

Suddenly he saw the wreck of a car.

"What the?!"

In a reflex he drew the silver dagger he got from his father."

He was sniffing something, something that wasn't natural.

Now he realized kids from his school where standing near the car.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

"Huh?" Night said, looking up from the journal. He then saw the newcomer(Julian) "What? Introductions first! Who are you, and how's what we're doing here your buisness?"

The European crunched with his knuckles.

"I don't know I just was in a walk through the storm, but I don't think that it's usual in this country that some kids standing in this god-forgotten forest all by their selves..."

He played with his dagger, then put it back in it's sheath and back into his pocket.

He grabbed into his chest pocket, pulled out a cigarette, enlightened it and took a deep breath.

"Name's Hawk Greyson..."

Looking nervously at Hawk's knife, Night slowly got into a martial arts fighting stance. "Look pal, we were just checking this out. I don't have any money, and I don't want any trouble."

The creature had gotten enraged when Night pick up the journal. The creature then saw how Hawk came in and had a silver dagger. The thing decided to wait until one of them kills the other before it would attack.

Hawk took another deep breath out of his cigarette.

"I don't want your money..." Hawk thought on his mother.

-But I need it...- he thought.

"I just want to know whats going on here. See I even put away the knife..."

Night dropped his stance a little. But only a little. "Fine," he said. "We were on our way home when we stumbled upon this wreckage. Nessa wanted to call the cops, but I came to gew a closer look." Night intentionally didn't tell Hawk about the journal. "Happy now?"

Hawk finished his cigarette and dropped it on the ground, afterwards he stepped on it with his big black boot.

He got closer to the wreck and kneeled down. Afterwards Hawk sniffed through the air.

-Still that inhuman smell, what the hell is that...-

He searched through what was left of the car.

"So what have you found out yet? I don't know why, but this situation is some kind of interesting..."

"Well, there is a smashed window and a trail of blood. And I'm fairly sure there is something in there." Nessa pointed to the forest, remembering the howling. She carefully walked closer to the car, stepping over the blood. "Does anyone have a flashlight?" she asked, getting frustrated that she couldn't see anything.

"Well, it's no flashlight, but it should do the trick," said Night, tossing Nessa his brightly lit phone.

The creature made a faint howl to detract them from looking closer into the car.

Night heard the howl. "Probably just a wolf," he told Nessa and Hawk uncertainly. But he knew it wasn't. 'Something's wrong here,' he thought. "Bye the way, if we find a dead guy I call dibs any cash he may have on him. He won't need it." Night joked, grinning, to lighten the mood just a litte bit. 'Am I joking'? he thought.

The creature decided after the statement Night made about the dead guy and the money to show them some money. The creature threw a wallet into sight to get them distracted to attack.

"What the- a wallet? I was just kidding!" Night said. He then went to pick it up. "Maybe there's an ID in here..."

The wallet contained the ID of Jarry inside it.

"Hello...who's this...?" Night muttered to himself. He brought the ID to Nessa. "Do you know who this Jarry guy is?" he asked her.

Nessa looked at the ID. "Jarry.... Yeah, he went to our school." she said slowly, looking it over. Please don't let him be dead. she prayed silently. She gave a hard look at Night. "Don't keep the money." What's in there? I don't like this...

"Hey, I was kidding...sorta." Night told Nessa. "So, do you and this Jarry guy have anything going on?" asked Night. He asked this for two reasons: 1. He knew that something was out there. And so, if it was hostile, it would probably attack when they had their guard down and were unwary, and a personal question like this would provide an opprotunity for whatever was out there to reveal itself ('And then us an opprotunity to beat it down,' Night thought grimly). The second was because Night really wanted to know. He didn't know why, but he did. 'Curiosity?' he thought.
