CHAPTER 1: LIFE TAKES A TURN

Jarry begin his morning like always. He reached school and was in his first period class. The school year had started over again, and he was now in the tenth grade. The class was filling in one by one. Jarry had arrived first since he liked to have time to write in his journal. He looked around as people filled in the classroom. He saw that some of his friends had come into the class, but he just smiled at them and kept writing.

Alison was at her new locker getting it ready for the year. She always made sure that her locker had some style to it. She finished by putting a picture of her family. "There, a new year, a better look." She looked at the time, "Time for class." She said. She walked to her classroom and went inside. She looked around at everyone while she was coming in. She then noticed a boy writing in a journal. She sat down beside him and pulled out her notebook. She started drawing a picture of a rose.

Nessa snorted. "Hardly. But you know, he went to the same school as me, it would be really bad if he...yeah. You know what I mean? But I think he hardly knows who I am." she stood up, and brushed her knees. "Well, what now?" Nessa asked. I'm cold, I'm wet, and I'm scared.

Night blushed out of embarassment. "W-well," he started, "Here's what we do." With a determined look on his face, he turned towards the woods. "Come on out!" he shouted. "I know your there! I know your watching!" Then, he whispered to Nessa, "You feel it too, right?

And he didn't have to wait long.

The creature was no longer at the place it was hiding at. Instead, it was hidden right behind Nessa. The monster then came out and snatched Nessa up. The monster made a growl at Nessa and brought her closer to its mouth. The monster was like a demon wolf with a long tail and wings.

Night gasped. He hadn't expected this. "Nessa!" He charged at the creature. "Let go of her!" he yelled, jumping and delivering a midair roundhouse kick to the creature's face.

The creature was knocked back and Nessa fell from its hand. The monster than rubbed its face and charged towards Night outraged. The monster slashed all its claws at Night's body.

Night expected this. He blocked the claw with 3 butterknives that he pulled from his pocket that he held between his fingers, and used another 3 to stab it, although he didn't hit any vital spots. In fact, he barely did any damage at all. He only seemed to make it angrier. "What is this..." he whispered.

The monster flew up in the air and blast five fire balls headed straight towards Night. The monster than made a terrible loud screech to hurt Night's hearing so the fireballs would directly hit him.

"Agh, my ears!" Night screamed, dropping to his knees and clutching his ears. He only noticed the fireballs when they were almost on him. BAM! All five hit him, and Night dropped to the ground, unconscious.

Nessa shrivered uncontrollably on the ground, frozen. Nessa! Get a grip! her mind commanded her. She rose to her feet, and ran over to Night. "Night! Wake-up!" she dragged him behind the wrecked car, hoping the thing wouldn't blast him to smithereens. Nessa looked where the monster had bit her, relieved she wasn't going to bleed to death. Again, Nessa shook Night's shoulders. "Come on! Wake up!"

The monster followed Nessa behind the car. The monster then flew towards Nessa to swooped her up to the air.

Because the Monster didn't recognize him in the first place Hawk could climb up a tree unseen. As the Demon-like wolf flew into the air he jumped on it's back.

"You dare turning your back on me..." he whispered.

With his silver dagger he stabbed the Wolf's back.

"Just die already!"

He knew that there was something inhuman out there all his life, he red many things about where-creatures, demons and the undead.

Hawk wasn't religious, but he knew, when something threatens the human race it has to be destroyed.

Nessa spotted Hawk just before he leaped onto the monster. "Hawk! Help!" she cried, struggling against the monster. If this thing falls... Nessa struggled even harder to get out of its grasp.

Night woke up. "Nessa!" he cried instinctively. He saw the monster with Hawk on its back and Nessa in his arm. Pulling out his butterknives, he threw them into the beasts heart. 'If it has one' thought Night.

The monster screamed out in pain and shook to get Hawk off of it. The place where the dagger had gone into its body had healed like it never even happened. Then to make sure Hawk would get off its body, the monster made sharp, painful needles come out of its back to harm Hawk to the point he could no longer stay on. The needles then blocked Nights attack at its heart. The beast then took its hand and squeezed Nessa even harder.

"Aw, @#$%!" Night cursed to himself. "Damn, that things going to crush Nessa, I've got to think of something!" He then threw the journal he found as a distraction. "Eat this you big wolf-angel...demon thing!"

The monster dropped Nessa and knocked Hawk off its back. It then put in its spikes and rushed towards the journal. It then caught the journal and made sure it was okay. It then flew away with the journal in its hand and left everyone heading in the direction of the back of the woods.

Running at inhuman speed, Night ran to where Nessa would land and caught her. "Are you all right?" he asked her breathlessly.

"Fascinating...." Hawk whispered as the Monster flew away, he was gazing after it.

"If there's more of them I want to hunt those things down..."

He turned around, reached in his pocket and pulled out a cigarette.

He asked "Is someone hurt?" before he enlightened it.

"Well, Nessa's bit and shaken, and I have burns way past the 3rd degree, " Night replied. "And that run I made to catch Nessa really wore me out too." He swayed slightly and blinked twice as he said this. 'Suck it up' he thought to himself.

Nessa struggled to her feet, trying to find her legs again. "I think we need to go to a hospital." she suggested. "What the heck was that? It seemed to like that journal alot." Why would it want that journal, though?

"So, you mean I just gave it what it wanted like a fail?" Night asked. "Man, I knew I should have thrown the wallet chalk full of cash!"

"Yeah let's go to the Hospital...."

Hawk shook his head.

"What did just happen? What was that thing... on the one side I'm afraid of it... on the other... I want to know everything about it..."

"But what about Jarry?" Night asked, shocked by the fact that Hawk was proposing to leave him behind. "We just can't leave him!"

"Jarry? Oh that guy going to my class.... what's with him."

Hawk arrived very late in the forest so he didn't know what happened in the first place.
