CHAPTER 1: LIFE TAKES A TURN

Jarry begin his morning like always. He reached school and was in his first period class. The school year had started over again, and he was now in the tenth grade. The class was filling in one by one. Jarry had arrived first since he liked to have time to write in his journal. He looked around as people filled in the classroom. He saw that some of his friends had come into the class, but he just smiled at them and kept writing.

Alison was at her new locker getting it ready for the year. She always made sure that her locker had some style to it. She finished by putting a picture of her family. "There, a new year, a better look." She looked at the time, "Time for class." She said. She walked to her classroom and went inside. She looked around at everyone while she was coming in. She then noticed a boy writing in a journal. She sat down beside him and pulled out her notebook. She started drawing a picture of a rose.

Night/Draco powered off his beams. "Yes, I am well aware of what a fairy tale is. Supposedly, I AM ONE!"

"I always carry it with me... because it has a.. personal background..."

Hawk looked out of the window , he was there physically but his spirit was absent.

He shook his head and smiled at the others.

Then Hawk pulled out the dagger, put it in it's sheath and put it back into his pocket.

"So had we any homework to do? I forgot writing it down yesterday...."

"How did I do what exactly? I am telling you the truth, I left the woods in my car when the storm hit and went home." Jarry then saw the wallet in Night's hand and looked at his own. "Hmh, now that is strange, how in the world is that possible. Maybe that is just another wallet that looks like mine, yeah that much be it." Jarry said.

Night turned back to Jarry. "Um, no. Look." He pulled out the ID of Jarry. "See, look at it. It's obviously you in the picture. And it has your name on it too."

Jarry looked at his ID in his hands and then at the one in Night's hand. They were both the same. "Okay, how in the world.........." Jarry became too weirded out by this that he couldnt even finish his sentence.

Night nodded. "See? The new guy ain't crazy after all, is he?" Then he thought of something. "Are there any sorts of cuts or scars that you know weren't there before?" he asked. "Or did you have any strange dreams last night? Lord knows I did." 'Yeah, and you know who was talking to you in that dream? Me!' said the voice. Night almost choked. "Really!?" He burst out. "It was real?" He saw the stares. "Please, just ignore me for a moment," he said.

"No actually, there are none. I am telling you the truth though, I remember going home in my car and then just coming to school. But this is odd, how I have one thing and you have another." Jarry said.

"I know what will help. I saw this in a movie." He pulled a block of wood from his pocket and smacked him upside the head with it. "Remember anything now?" he asked.

Jarry fell over when he was hit on the head. "Yeah, I remember one thing." Jarry said getting up. He then reached into his bag and pulled out a sword, "I remember how to hurt someone who hurts me." Jarry said. He took the sword and cut the wood into 33 mini pieces. He then put the sword away. Alison looked at him when he did the cutting, 'Dang he is good, better than a black belt.' Alison thought to herself. "Now would you please explain to me why you hit me on the head with wood, before I end up beating you to a good point where you can no longer stand for days." Jarry said. His right eye then began to glow green.

Night narrowed his eyes and his both of his eyes glowed yellow and he pulled out his knives (which he holds beetween his fingers Wolverine style). His shadow also grew horns, wings, and a tail. "Like I said, I saw it in a movie. If hitting the head can remove memories, it can most certainly bring them back." He smirked. "It makes sense if you think about it."

Nessa finally got to school and got out of her car, sprinting to the doors. I'm lucky dad still let me drive. she thought sourly. "Sorry I'm late." she said. She stopped in the doorway, seeing the swords. "Would someone like to tell me whats going on?"

Alison got up, "Wow! There is no need for violence here." Alison said. When she said that, Jarry's eye and shadow was back to normal. "Yeah, there is no need to point sharp knives at me for no reason whatsoever." Jarry said.

Night smiled with no humor. "Says the one who drew the sword first." His eyes and shadow were still changed, and his hair began to stick up slightly.

"Look, new kid, no one wants you here, so dont come in here on your first day and think you can just make a fight with the most popular guy at this school." Jarry said. "Come on Jarry, lets just leave before something more is started." Alison said. She and Jarry walked out of the classroom until the bell would ring.

Nessa looked after Jarry with a somewhat digusted expression. "Well that was a little rude. You should probably just ignore that." Nessa said, examining Night's shadow. "You feeling okay? You, ah, look a little different."

Night didn't even hear Nessa's question. Jarry's comment hurt Night in a way no monster could. After his appearance reverted to normal, he glanced shamefully at Nessa. "He started it..." he whispered before bolting off. 'I have to be alone,' he thought. He arrived on the roof, and tears sprung to his eyes. He had seen this before: Popular guy hates someone and the rest follow. Everyone would hate him by tommorow. 'Night...' the voice said. "Go away!" he cried. And it did. And so he began to cry.

As to a quite surprise, the door to the roof opened. The door opened to show Jarry behind it. Jarry walked over and sat with Night. "Alison said I should come and check up on you." Jarry said.

Night looked up, his red face and leftover streaks evidence of his crying. "Why would either of you care?" he asked. "You said it yourself: 'Nobody wants me here.' And you're probably right: I probably just lost my only friends..." He held back the coming tears and took a deep, shaky breath. "How did you know I was here, anyway?"

Nessa watched Night go out the door. I know the feeling. She sighed as she plunked her things down on a desk. "This is going to be a long day." she muttered, massaging her temples. Why do I get the feeling this'll be an interesting year? I should wait for Night to come back, give him some time to cool off.

"I'm fine Night finally said. But seriously, why do you care? You're the one who caused me to come up here in the first place!" Night said angrily.

"How couldnt I know where you were, this is where I was, in the same spot as you, when I came to this town and to this school. Yes, you heard right. I was not always a popular kid here. In fact, when I first came here, I ended up as the loser kid of school and was bullied all the time, which was enough for me. One day, I finally had enough of being picked on, that I ended up coming here one day, and well I stood on the ledge and almost killed myself. The only reason I didnt was because the most popular kid at school here at the time came rushing up here before I could and saved me from doing it. As I came in this year, I came in as the new popular one. And so, I was in this position and know how it feels, and I am truely sorry. I dont know Alison that must since I just met her yesterday, but she feels bad about this whole thing too. So is there anyway you can forgive me. I am a horrible beast on my attitude at times, but I am not a monster." Jarry said, he then handed Night a hankerchef so let him wipe off the tears. "Also, I dont think you are that crazy, just the stuff that has been happening." Jarry said.

"Thanks," Night said, taking the hankee. "I'm sorry too. I guess my dad's training just kinda kicked in. Guess your life hasn't been so easy either. No hard feelings?" Night asked, extending a hand.

"About what?" Jarry smiled and grabbed Night's hand. "Okay, so I have to be honest here, how in the firetruck are there two different stories about what happened yesterday? I remember going home with everything in order, while you remember something that is of the supernatural. That shouldnt really be possible, should it?" Jarry asked.

"You forgot the part about my family having a guardian that conveniently lives in my head," Night pointed out. "And I'm not the only one who remembers my version. Hawk and Nessa were with me."

  • Author

"So maybe Im a fake? No that isnt right either. Okay meet me after school and we can investigate, you can even bring Nessa and Hawk, Ill bring Alison. We can see what happened truely.

"What's Allison got to do with this...unless..." Realization dawned on his face. 'About time you figured it out, dummy,' the voice said. "Do you like her?" Night asked, smiling.
