CHAPTER 1: LIFE TAKES A TURN

Jarry begin his morning like always. He reached school and was in his first period class. The school year had started over again, and he was now in the tenth grade. The class was filling in one by one. Jarry had arrived first since he liked to have time to write in his journal. He looked around as people filled in the classroom. He saw that some of his friends had come into the class, but he just smiled at them and kept writing.

Alison was at her new locker getting it ready for the year. She always made sure that her locker had some style to it. She finished by putting a picture of her family. "There, a new year, a better look." She looked at the time, "Time for class." She said. She walked to her classroom and went inside. She looked around at everyone while she was coming in. She then noticed a boy writing in a journal. She sat down beside him and pulled out her notebook. She started drawing a picture of a rose.

Night approached Hawk. "Dude! I found a severed arm and an eyeball in the fridge, along with a stuffed pig! And some beer!" Night exclaimed. "Who knew monster's drank that! I guess it makes sense, that's some nasty stuff..." Night said, then amended it. "Before you ask, I did not drink any, I'm not that dumb." He looked around. "So, what did I miss?"

"Well.. Anatomies, and description resemble the thing we have seen, and remind me of a werewolf."

He licked over his lips.

"The description reminds me on the Nordic wolf like creature Fenrir."

Hawk replied to Night: "Really an arm?! Oh and would you be so nice and bring me that beer?"

"Are you kidding me? No! You're already gonna kill yourself by smoking, I'm not gonna give you a beer! Besides, we need you in top fighting shape." He thought for a moment and then corrected himself. "Or at least as top as a smoker can get. A drunk guy on a battle field isn't a good idea."

Hawk started to laugh.

"There where I was from, drinking beer is allowed as soon as you're 16. And who the heck gets drunk after one beer?"

He shook his head smiling and concentrated on the research.

The he looked up again.

"As you may have recognized, as soon as I don't have to run I'm a good fighter... IF it would come to a fight, which I hope that it won't."

Night got a look in his eye niether Nessa nor Hawk had ever seen. He smiled a humorless smile and simply said, "The fight's half the fun." Then he walked away. "I'm still not bringing you that beer!" he called. 'Now, where is the beasty...' he thought. 'If my mom's dead, I'm for sure gonna kill it!'

Jarry came rushing down the stairs and Alison came into the room. "GUYS! GUESS WHAT!" they both said at the same time. "I found out more about this thing." Alison said. "Me too, like the fact that this monster has a plan, and now we know what it is. This monster is going to attack the back-to-school dance at midnight." Jarry said. "It plans on taking everyone's lives who are at the party. Also that beer is not beer, its well......you know what I mean." Alison said.

Night looked back at them. "No wonder it didnt' have a label." Then he gasped. "Wait, who pees in a bottle and puts it in the refrigerator! That doesn't make any sense!" He then went to the fridge, grabbed the bottle, and rushed back. "I'm selling this on ebay to some monster-obsessed nerd!"

As Hawk recognized that Night was away, he looked in both directions and pulled out a hip-flask from the inner pocket of his mantle, took the cigarette in one hand, drunk and then shrugged as he put it back.

Then he looked at Nessa.

"What?! I was drinking for two years in my old country, do you think i would stand it not drinking till I'm 21?"

Then he quietly said: "And that stuff's far better than beer anyways...."

 

After he heard what Jerry told them he nearly chocked his cigarette. "So we have to go there defending them right?"

"Or," Night said in response to Hawk, "We hunt it down and kill it before that happens!" He looked at Hawk. "You're a hunter, right?"

"So you're requesting a hunt don't you?"

Hawk grinned.

"Alright then. Let's see which tracking devices my father has left for me at home...."

He got up, but took the research sheets with him.

"Maybe I can find more about it in the books of the order of Shadowslayers..."

That was the name the vampire hunter's organization had.

"Hey, Draco, do dragons have some sort of enhanced sense of smell?" 'Darn right they do! Could come handy in this situation.' "Good." Night cracked his knuckles. "So, when do we start?"

Hawk put on his hat again and laid the crossbow on his shoulder.

"Well, I think we could split up. Those that want to find out more about that beast should come with me, I got plenty of research and books from the ancient order of the Shadowslayers and Nighthunters. After we are done we could join the second squad that tries to hunt down the beast... for that we should exchange our cellphone numbers..." Hawk wanted to hunt down that thing right away, but he also knew it would be of advantage knowing it's weak spots first.

"Wait, wait, wait, if there is one thing I have learned from reading the series of Percy Jackson books, it is that you never use a phone near a monster, that would just bring it to you.......wait a moment thats a great idea. Okay I say those who want to hunt some monster tail, bring your cellphone with you, I have a plan." Jarry said. "Okay I am coming on the history side here." Alison said.

"Good, so I won't be the nerd that does all the research by himself. hehe." Hawk smiled.

Let's head to my house it isn't far from here, about 3 minutes by foot.

He headed down the ladder again.

-Cellphones attracting monsters..-he thought

-What's next religious vampires?-

"Hmph, I'm going hunting," Night said simply. "I'm not the studying type. Wanna come, Nessa? We need more peopke to fight than we need people to study. Beside's, it'll be fun!"

Alison followed behind Hawk. "Okay, so we three hunt?" Jarry said preparing to bring out his phone.

"Yep. 'And may the odds be ever in our favor,' " Night said, quoting the "Hunger Games." Then he pulled out his phone.

Nessa shrugged. "I'll go hunt with you guys. I got my phone on me, anyway." she said, pulling out her phone.

Hawk was leaving the forest alongside Alison.

"So you want to know more about those creatures?"

Greyson was glad that other people believed in the supernatural too.

If his mother told him he was a Vampire slayer without other people knowing that those things existed he would think his family was crazy.

"More than you will ever know. I crave for mysteries, which makes me more and more into history and supernatural. By the way, when did you start becoming a powerful slayer in the first place? I thought that the best slayer was Buffy." Alison said.

 

"Okay, lets be on our guard. I suggest we split up until one of us finds something, if we do then report it by text." Jarry said.

"Got it!" Night agreea right before tearing off in a random direction, making as much noise as possible to attract it. "Whoooo!"

Jarry went in another way making less noise to make sure it would come out with no warning about Jarry. The sun was senting and the moon and stars were coming out.

Nessa walked in another direction, not making much noise. "Here, wolf-flying-dragon thingy." she whispered, looking in the dark shadows made by the trees. This thing could be anywhere....

Night got tired of blundering. 'Time to try something new,' he thought. He then let out his best wolf mating howl. It was suprisingly accurate and very convincing. "That should get it here" And he leaned against a tree, and waited. He figured that three things could happen: 1. It would show itself thinking it was a wolf and fall into his trap. 2. It wasn't mating season, and the wolf would come to investigate, or 3. It would know that he wasn't a wolf and find him. To him, anything worked. 'As long as it comes here,' he thought.

"Buffy?" Hawk asked.

"Sorry I just experienced that I am Van Helsings ancestor today"

Hawk had knowledge through books but no experience when it came to hunting.

"Well as a kid I started feeling the presence of the undead and werecreatures. I don't think I am that powerful but my blood begs to differ...."
