Cosmos, the goddess of harmony. Chaos, god of discord. For many eons they waged endless war, with the fate of the world always in the balance. The battles continued for eternity, until the last few brave warriors defied destiny and destroyed Chaos once and for all. But, just when peace had finally come, a new threat emerges. A threat that could end all things....

It is a dark and calm night, and silence looms over the Lunar Subterraene. Kain stands looking towards the horizon deep in thought. "How is it that I was revived, and more importantly, how did I retain my memories from the last conflict?...." he says. He looks at the starry sky and feels a gentle breeze.

".......This World......is just too small." said Young Xehanort, looking out to the Crystal World.

Kain hears a strange voice and heads towards it. He sees Young Master Xehanort walking through the Crystal World. "Who is he?", he thinks to himself. He lands on the ground and quietly follows him.

"Hmph, pitiful Dragoon, you are one who has gotten close to Darkness and yet you decide to stand in the Light." said Young Xehanort, turning around to face Kain.

"You seem familiar, but yet, I feel you are not from around here.",says Kain as he points his lance at Young Master Xehanort.

"Sorry but i have no need to fight you at this very moment, instead, fight this carbon copy of you." said Young Xehanort, as he then summoned Dark Kain using the powers of Darkness before summoning a Corridor of Darkness to then leave Kain behind.

Kain gasps as he sees his own twisted inner demon. "Very well, I must surpass myself.", he says as he dashes around the battlefield and attacks his dark counterpart. "Cross the heavens!",Kain says as he does his Sky Rave attack to finish off his darkness. After his foe falls, he looks towards the distance where Xehanort had gone off to. "Hmm, no doubt that he must be one of Chaos's minions. I should investigate.", he says as he runs following the dark aura that he feels is Xehanort's. After a long time of wandering, he arrives at Sanctuary. Then he feels a familiar presence. "What? What is this feeling I have? It feels so familiar...", he thinks to himself as he stands alone on the vast planes of Sanctuary.

"Long time no see, Kain." said Golbez, now no longer wearing his armour, as he approaches Kain from out of nowhere.

Kain looks at Golbez rather surprised. "It truly has been a long time, the last time I saw you, we were in the middle of the war of the gods. Tell me, who has won this war?", he says with a sigh of relief. He withdraws his lance and approaches Golbez.

"Cosmos, you and your comrades who had fallen to the Manikins, all of your efforts were not in vain, as you managed to inspire the other warriors of Cosmos, by inspiring their spirits first and duss, they had managed to gather their Crystals and stop Chaos." said Golbez to Kain.

" I see, but if that is the case, then I must ask, why were we summoned again? I have not seen any of our foes or allies, but the only person I saw was a mysterious young man in a black cloak I decided to follow him, but then he summoned a dark version of myself and I had to fight it. After that I kept following him until I came here to Sanctuary.", said Kain to Golbez. Just then, a far away roar is heard.

"Hmm....most troubling...." said Golbez to Kain.

"Quick, we must find the source of that noise, I feel that it is a dangerous presence!", says Kain to Golbez while rushing to the source of the noise. They make their way through Sanctuary and encounter a vast maze. Almost immediately, they see a Bahamut fighting against a man cloaked in red and wielding a gold gauntlet and a pistol. The man weaves and darts around the Bahamut, taking it down with precise gun shots. After a great struggle, the deadly Bahamut falls and converts into a ball of materia. The man walks up to them and silently stares at them. "Who are you? What is your business here?", says Kain pointing his lance at the man. The man simply walks past them and walks away slowly. " Answer me, or I shall have no choice but to cut you down!", says Kain now in a more commanding voice. The man slowly turns around and then walks up to Kain. "Hmph, I haven't seen you around here before, but then again, there isn't anyone else that I have seen, only that damn Bahamut. It's a good thing I managed to catch it. My name is Vincent Valentine...now then, if you'll excuse me, I will be on my way.", he says to Kain and Golbez in a grim voice. Then Kain lowers his lance and says: "I see, then you are in the same circumstance as us. Golbez, what do you suppose we should do now?

"Let him go, it doesn't seem like he will do us any harm." said Golbez to Kain.

Vincent looks towards them and smirks. "Hmph, good luck on wherever it is your going. Just be careful, dangerous beasts lurk about." And with that, he walks away. Kain looks at Golbez and then they walk for many hours until they reach the Chaos Shrine. "So Golbez, what now? We've wandered for hours, and still we have no clues about the mysterious hooded man, or any clues as to why we were summoned here.",says Kain to Golbez.

Perhaps I can be of assistance, said "Ansem", the Seeker of Darkness, appearing from behind both Golbez and Kain, from a Corridor of Darkness.

"This man, he bears a resemblance to the man I saw before!", says Kain raising his lance. He stares at Ansem and silently examines him. "What do you want? And what do you know of what's happening around here?", says Kain cautiously.

"Hmph, you should be aware of the one that travels with you, he has Darkness in his Heart, as do you." said "Ansem" to Kain and Golbez both but mainly Kain by himself.

"We overcame our darkness. Now we reside with our comrades. We will not be tricked by you!", says Kain jumping at Ansem. He throws his lance at him and then steps back. "Golbez, we must defeat him!", says Kain to Golbez.

Golbez simply remains quiet, as "Ansem"'s Xehanort's Guardian blocks the incoming lance.

Kain stands in shock as he sees the powerful Ansem with his Xehanort's Guardian. Then he looks at Golbez and says: "You fool, fight for your life or he'll kill you! Do not let his words trick you!" Kain darts and weaves around Ansem while using his Aero spells. "It's no use, he's too powerful!", he says as he then realizes that a dark portal starts to form around him. "What!? What is this!?",he says while dodging Ansem's attacks. "You fool, retreat, or you'll be dead within the second", says Vincent pulling him into the portal. In the next moment, Kain is now in a strange dimension unlike any he has seen before. He then looks at Vincent and says: "Why did you do that? You forgot about Golbez!" Vincent simply looks at him and smirks. "Hmph, compassion will get you nowhere. Golbez is still tainted by his own darkness. He has to fight it if he truly wants to belong to the light", he says while walking away. "Wait! Where are you going?",says Kain. "I head for the far side of this dimension, from here we can arrive at Pandemonium Castle. I seek a way out of this place, so I can go back home, but apparently, there is no returning home for now, so I'm looking for Cosmos.",says Vincent. "Let me come with you.",says Kain. "All right, but we have to remain quiet, we don't want to draw any attention to ourselves.",says Vincent as they walk towards the other side of the strange dimension.

"Isn't that what they always say?" said Xemnas, appearing from a Corridor of Darkness in front of both Kain and Vincent.

"So, are you supposed to be another of those freaks that have been appearing here?", says Vincent looking at Xemnas. "He looks like the young man I saw. Do they all have some kind of connection?",says Kain to Vincent. They both draw their weapons and prepare for battle.

Xemnas mearly raises his hand up to them before clutching it and saying "The bits and pieces that make us all up, can you really say that are actually us, or rather, beings that mearly have connections to us?" said Xemnas, with his riddles.

Vincent simply teleports around Xemnas so he can get a clear shot at him. But Kain stands still, pondering on Xemnas's words. "I--I never thought of that...what if all the things that have happened to me are just events of someone else? What if everything I have done is in vain? Rosa....",Kain says silently looking down. Vincent swoops in to take Kain and punches him in the face. "You fool, don't let him play with your mind. You must fight!",he says to Kain. Kain simply casts Aero at Xemnas and says: "Yes, of course..."

Xemnas, using his powers of Nothingness to negate Kain's Aero then says "Hmph, think about it before you yourself lose to your "Other you." with that said, did Xemnas leave in a Corridor of Darkness.
