I just finished making all original 13 characters into Star Characters, then i realized there are 4 characters you can unlock,
Baby Mario(Speed), Baby Peach(Tricky), Dry Bowser(Defense), and Luma(Technique)
but there is also another 8 extra characters you can unlock by scanning in a QR code in the game,
7 of the 8 are different colored Yoshi's- Black, White, Pink, Yellow, Light Blue, Blue and Red, and all the different Color Yoshi's are completely separate characters, and they all play differently Red Yoshi is Technique, Blue Yoshi is Speed, Light Blue Yoshi is Speed, Yellow Yoshi is Power, Pink Yoshi is Technique, White Yoshi is Tricky, and Black Yoshi is All-Around. the 8th Character you unlock by scanning in a QR Code is Metal Mario, but the QR Code for Metal Mario Hasn't been released for the US or Canada yet.
I just thought this was a really cool feature and way to add characters, and i had no idea about any of the Unlockable or Scan-in Characters til i looked, the Unlockable characters are on all the sites like IGN, but the scan-in characters aren't talked about in the Guides.
to get to the QR Code Scanner you go to the file Screen and press up on the D-Pad and Start at the same time, and you get the QR Code into the Scanning Barrier and the character is unlocked.
I Attached a picture the Has The QR Code and tells you what it unlocks, there's a picture for all 7 Yoshi"s and the Yoshi Mii Costume
