"AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHH!" Carte screamed, flying through the air. He landed hard next Julian. He was heavily burnt and had a large welt on his head from stray rubble. "That was awesome!" he shouted. He then groaned and fell back unconscious at Julian's feet.

The assassin shook his head and opened his black suitcase.

Next to the parts of his sniper rifle there was a small first aid kit.

He started to threaten Carte's burnings. As he was finished he carried the Mage to a near bench and laid him down.

As he wanted to go away he sighed and turned around.

He put back the wallet from where he took it.

"I earn enough by my missions..." He thought. His moral was kind of strange. Killing people was no big deal for him, but every time he stole something he felt bad.

Then he snipped with the fingers on both of his hands and the same light appeared.

Two daggers out of shadows slowly formed in his hands.

The assassin walked slowly back into the ally to see what had led the Mage to this action.

He scanned through the pile of burnt rocks and steel, then he glared into the darkness ahead.

Carte woke up. He groaned. "Ouch..." His back felt lighter, and he knew why: his staff was gone. "Oh no!" he ran back to the ally and dug for his staff. He saw Julian. "Hey, you!" he shouted, shooting a fire out of his hands.

With cat like-reflexes Shadowfallen turned around and sliced through the fireball.

A a small explosion of shadows was the consequence, it pushed Julian a bit back.

Slowly he walked out of the smoke and darkness the explosion caused.

"What?" He asked. It sounded as he never met Carte before, a bit grumpy but without any further emotions.

"You stole my wallet and my staff while I was out!" Carte accused.

"You have your wallet back..."

He pointed on the mage's pocket.

"And it looks like you lost the staff in the explosion."

The assassin said in a ver disinterested voice.

Then he turned around and stepped back into the smoke.

Carte felt his pocket. His wallet was there. "Why'd you give it back?" he asked, "Did you realize that there was nothing there?"

"I didn't look inside." The busy voice came form behind the slowly disappearing smoke.

"Just don't ask and be happy that you got it back."

Shadowfallen was looking through the area.

"Ah there it is."

The mage's staff was thrown through the smoke and landed next to him.

"Why did you cast that explosion if I may ask?."

Julian's voice was now less louder because he went deeper into the ally.

Carte thought. "I can't remember," he finally said. "I remember coming here, then it's all blank." He rubbed his head.

"Very helpful, thank you..." Being sarcastic was not one of Julian's abilities.

He moved deeper into the ally, holding his daggers ready to strike.

"Come out whatever you are..."

He whispered.

Carte retrieved his staff and grasped it firmly with both hands. "So, what're you doing?" he asked.

"I wanna know what scared you off... I don't know why but I have the urge to find it out.... and the feeling that I'll regret it..."

Slowly he moved through the ally, he had his eyes closed so he won't get distracted by the surroundings, he relied on his feelings, and his connection the the shadows.

"I'm looking for an assassin, he killed my pack. And NEVER! Compare me to those out off control beasts. Unlike them, us looners can control ourselves."

A ball of light appeared in Carte's hand. "Need some light?" he asked, moving next to Julian and strapping his staff on his back.

"You refer to the newer generation of werewolf. The lychenthropes of old were honorable creatures, incomparable to this filth." Olivier held her hand out, feeling a single rain drop kiss her skin. Her clan had developed an immunity to water, so the drops held no poison to her. But personally, she hated the rain. "If you are looking for an assassin, try downtown. The club Nozgoth seems to be a popular spot for their kind." Olivier blinked away a drop that had landed near her eye, otherwise unfazed. She turned her back to Alexander, her ivory coat fluttering with the movement. "I will remember your face, looner. Do not cause trouble in my city." And with that final warning, she scattered into haze, dissipating into the moistening sky.

"Alright.." Alex turned and headed towards the assassin hide out, the Nozgoth. 'I really hope he's there..' he thought to himself.

"... I see those traditional mages are not as smart as they calm to be..." he whispered.

Then he spoke louder so Carte could hear him.

"You know there's an old saying... if you are in the light you can only see what's in the light and be seen from the darkness... If you're in the darkness you can see what's in the light and can remain hidden... that's the first thing I have learned in the hidden academy..."

He slowly walked even deeper into the ally.

"After this I'll need a rest... good that there's a tavern for assassins here... Nozgoth or something..." He thought.

"So...no light?" Carte asked.

"Ah forget it... I bet you just tripped over something and got scared..."

Julian turned around and left the ally, his shadow daggers disappeared.

He headed for the club he thought of earlier, without saying anything to Carte.

Carte followed closely behind. "Hey, wait up!" he called out.

Shadowfallen didn't stop walking and didn't even turn his head, but he answered Carte

"What do you want now?" He asked.

-If he follows me I won't be responsible for anything that happens to me,he knows so little about the world he's entering if he does.- Julian thought.

"Well, I was wondering," Carte started, "I I could, I don't know, hang arouind you for a little while?" Carte knew little about the world outside of the place he came from, he figured it would be good for him to start finding people he could trust. "Please?"

Julian stopped

"Let me get that straight... I just stole your wallet, led you in a dangerous ally, you casted a fireball at me...

And now you want to hang out with me?"

The assassin shook his head.

"You sure are a strange guy..."

He had to think.

- I will get rid of him faster if I let him follow me... his kind won't last long in the place where I'm going...-

"Ok you can follow me... but I dare you to cause me any trouble" I double dare you

Shadowfallen moved on .

"By the way, what's your name?

He knew he would regret the question later.

"Carterand," Carte replied, "but people just call me 'Carte' for short." He followed after Shadowfallen. "Is there anything wrong with my following you?"

Julian smirked without Carte seeing it.

"As long as you don't get in the way when I do my job it's alright."

He knew that he was supposed to say his name too, but he tried to avoid it as long as it was possible.
