*the spoilers are strong with this one* Prerequisites for wielding a Keyblade?

Posted

First of all, hey guys I'm new here (hence the lack of picture, sig, etc), and I made an account basically to ask this question, cause it's been bugging me every since I completed DDD. Well, I mean of course I made an account because I love this place, but anyways, on to the question!

Ok so, everyone knows Axel/Lea gets a keyblade. That was easily one of my favorite parts of the game. But, I'm just confused on....how? I guess? Like, think of it this way. Terra bequeathed his power to Riku, that's how he's able to use his keyblade. Sora got his power because of Ventus and such. But Axel just kinda went to Yen Sid and said "Hey I wanna know how to wield a keyblade." Like, can it work like that? Can anyone wield a keyblade, or are there certain prerequisites? I always thought you had to be special in someway, but now I'm confused. Do you think that's how Terra, Aqua, and Ven came to wield theirs, just by training? Thoughts would be appreciated, thanks guys!

Who said you can only do it to one person ?

This Eraqus gave both Terra and Aqua the ability to wield. Eraqus's master also gave Eraqus and Xehanort the ability to wield. I think people are confusing passing the ability to wield a keyblade and picking their direct sucessor which are two different things.

also he had strong ties to roxas, the combination of everything over a period of time and his willingness to help the others probably all had something to do it with

Really? Where did you hear this?

Yeah he was having trouble summoning it, I believe he said that he wanted to use his Keyblade as his weapon when he was rescuing Sora but he couldn't summon it and had to use the chakrams.

Kind of a stupid question, but do you think Lea will be able to use both the chakrams and his keyblade from now on? Cause he had the power passed on to him, but he used his chakrams to save Sora, so do you think he'd be able to use both? I'm sure Nomura will make him only use his keyblade, for obvious reasons, but I think it'd be pretty badass to have a sort of keyblade/chakram duel wielding thing going on. Keyblade for close range, chakrams for mid/long range, that'd be sick haha

Riku can still summon Soul Eater . So im sure he probably still could . Maybe he will alternate what he uses depending on what hes doing xD

Keyblade in one hand, Chakram in the other. Instant badass points for Lea if that happens. Keyblade are primarily a one handed weapon. Only Sora (and by extension Roxas when he isn't dual weilding) two hand the keyblade, which I find silly cause it makes Sora's attacks feel kind of slow.

I think that, along with what Flaming Lea has been saying, Lea more or less was able to get it to manifest out of shear force of will and desire to protect his friends. Who else do we know that is able to wield a keyblade through strength of heart? Oh right, Sora. Sure they say that 'the keyblade moved down the line' but it as how baddly Sora wanted to protect his loved ones that he got a keyblade, so why can't it work for Lea?

Also...fanservice. I highly doubt Nomura expected Axel to be such a fan hit, so if they keep him around and make him more important, the fans will be happier and hooked into the story even more.

Wait, really? When did Riku summon the Soul Eater again? Actually, that does kind of ring a bell, I might've read it somewhere. Or it might've been in DDD and I just forgot. If so, my bad, shame on me haha. But wait when did he summon it again?

Dude if Riku can use both keyblades, he should totally duel wield the Sould Eater and Way to Dawn, that'd be INTENSE. Final battle, Riku and Sora duel wielding against Xehanort. YEEESSSSSS.

But yeah it'd be pretty sweet if Lea could switch between his keyblade and his chakrams, however I doubt it'll happen, cause Nomura will probably want him to stick to his keyblade. But then again, that guy is way too unpredictable haha

Riku does it in DDD xD

.............good lord I am sorry. Obviously I need some sleep hahaha. Gosh, I finished the game not too long ago! I've only played it once though, I wanna wait to play it a second time on critical mode when I get my hands on the guide book, which I wanted to wait till a little after school starts up for me, so not too much longer. I'm sure I'll remember it instantly when I start playing again haha.

OH OH OH OH HOLD ON. He summons it in the beginning, when he's talking to Yen Sid and is all "starting over sounds like a good idea, since I started in darkness" and that good fun stuff. Right, I remember now. That was an awesome scene too. My bad haha

I think Riku could wield a an empty paper towel roll and still kick butt while looking awesome and badass about it. ~.~

Is it confirmed that Soul eater *isn't* a keyblade? I know it doesn't really look like one, but hey, keychains can make keyblades look really strange. And Way to Dawn barely looks like one in itself.

Soul Eater is a sword manifested from darkness. Its not a keyblade but it does serve as a "base" for WtD

Ah, okay I always thought that, to be honest, but was never truly sure. Thank you ^^

Actually Lea went to Yen Sid to get one so he could travel safely to worlds and have the power to save his friends. Yen Sid is a retired keyblade master and gave him the ceremony and Lea was then sent to train with Merlin and in a special chamber where time doesnt move to help train . However, Leas strong heart was what actually gave him the keyblade since you need a keyblade to choose you and find you worthy after you have the ceremony . This was said directly by Nomura in May 10 Famitsu interview

OH! I've always thought it was when he was Axel, and his friendship with Roxas and Xion, maybe because Roxas made him feel like he had a heart, that he developed a power inside of him that gave him the power, that when he was whole again, to wield a keyblade, but that makes more sense!
