Could anyone help me find a gaming PC

Posted

I have been a console gamer for years now, but am soon to going to start on PC. I do not have a gaming PC, but am trying to find one.  I don't have the budget to build a gaming PC, I only have a budget of about $300.  I have been searching on Newegg.com, trying to find a good PC within my budget.  Would any of you happen to know a thing or two about PCs and could tell me if any of these would be a good option?  Keep in mind that I could always upgrade things such as the graphics card, RAM, motherboard, etc.

Here are two I have found in my budget:

-Thanks! :)

Buy the second pc, the higher the GHZ, the better. My pc only has 3.0 ghz and 500gb hdd. :(

So yeah, the second one is better. Trust me, I had same situation five months ago and my new pc is faster and has better graphics than the last one I had.

I would go with the second choice. Keep in mind this isn't really a gaming PC. You will certainly be able to play new releases on medium and low settings (maybe even high for some games) but don't expect to "max out" the graphic settings of games like Planetside 2 or Battlefield 3 with that computer.

For the price though, it should do you well. You won't have to worry about not being able to play new releases on the PC, but you will have to settle for slightly lower graphical quality. If that isn't very important to you then you're golden.

Alienware are probably the best gaming PCs.

Yea they are, but I dont think its in their budget range. The cheapest Alienware I've ever seen was like 800 bucks :O

Alienware is apple of gaming PCs. Sure they are powerful computers, but with same price you can build up better yourself.

You can custom build Alienwares too :3

Thanks for the replies! I'm glad to hear that I should be able to play games on medium graphic settings.  I can always upgrade my graphics card at a later time.

Doesn't matter, they are still very expensive just for the fact that it has glowing alien head as logo and fancy name tag on it.

Little bit looking around and buying parts one by one is cheaper.

No no no no no no no no no no no no firetruck NO.

Alienwares are just shiny dell computers. Alienware has horrible costumer support, poor reliability, and an outrageous price tag. For the price of the cheapest Alienware you can get a Cyberpower PC that's shiny AND has two to three times the power of an Alienware. You only pay for a brand name with Alienware. Only it's a brand name that will only impress little kids and people who know little about computers.  An true PC gamer will scoff at you for such a poor decision.

While you can custom build and upgrade your Alienware there is a limit. Where as Cyberpower PC can be customized 100%, with virtually no limit other than your wallet.

And in case you couldn't tell, I personally feel that Cyberpower provides the best Gaming PCs for the cost. You can run Planetside 2 at maximum settings at around 120 FPS with the 800 to 1000 dollar models. In case you don't know, Planetside 2 is currently the game that requires the most processing power. They also have great costumer support and the computer itself looks nice without additional cost or weakened processing power. Another great brand for a gaming PC is Asus but they are less specified towards games where as Cyberpower PCs are assembled with gaming being the primary focus. Basically you get everything an Alienware doesn't have, at the price of an Alienware.

Alienware is just the Apple of the Gaming PC world. The only reason why people buy into them is because they equate shininess with the ability to play games. And just like with Apple, customization is limited, upgrading is very difficult and costumer support will resolve all of your problems with "Buy a new Alienware!".

I definitely do not plan on getting an Alienware.  I would love to get a Cyberpower PC, but that's out of my budget.

So what exactly makes the computer I have linked a "good computer?"  I have also posted a model similar to this on the Steam forum, and was told it was a bad idea, so what makes this one a good choice? (I'm new when it comes to this kind of thing.)

Well still Alienware is the best you can get for gaming without customizing your own.

If you want to spend twice as much money, suffer reliability issues, deal with crap costumer support, and be mocked by other PC gamers I suppose it's a good choice.
