Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian~ The ‘Shadows' Case’ ~ [A 1x1 between Neko-chan and CloakedSchemerX]

Posted

-Introduction-
In England after World War I, Hugh Anthony Disward, also known as Huey, has finished his travels with Dalian and is currently watching her in good health. Hal Kamhout and Flamberge have finished off most of the Phantom Books, but it is still unknown if any still exist. ‘Professor’ and Rasiel have not been seen after the printer-company incident. The girl from the archives still is held within Dalian and the archives are still to access. A new Biblioprincess has been chosen, with a new Key Keeper. After discovery of hundreds of more Phantom Books, what news reporters called ‘The Shadow Case’, has traumatized many villagers and the new, unknown Key Keeper is being called out by the Biblioprincess, The Shadow Case, will have to be taken care of, also the effects of The Shadow Case.

-‘The Shadow Case’-
The Shadow Case takes place of demoniac shadows that come in different forms, some even possessing humans. Effects of the Shadow case include these shadows becoming monsters, burning down towns, causing reverse effects that should not be held in this world. The world is going out of balance because of this case all because of Phantoms Books. That is where the Biblioprincess and Key Keeper come in.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYqg97kSGuA Lyrics:

Miku:

Still...You are...All alone..

The sky is so blue
If only you knew it
If only you knew it...ahh

Meiko:

Where am I?
Even though the sky is blue
What I see is burned sand and rock face

The winds howl
Even though the horizon is far away
I was moved

Dried lakes
Burning fields
Someday they all will get back on the track
So, now I go forward

Even to the far future
There is a way to link
So, do not turn around
We can go through it

Len:

For everybody
That's what they said but...

In the starless sky
Light is overflowing
Since when
Have we been deserted?

The ladder that reaches to the end of the sky
I can't ascend it
In the cold world, holding hands,
We live today as always
We're not lifeless

(Stars, falling stars)

Someone, please give me courage
To face forward without turning back
The iron giant should shake the earth,
Disturb the atmosphere and follow

Even so I'd rather go with someone laughing
Than living all alone
Kick the earth to get onto the atmosphere
Believing in a fate that I can meet you

I nearly fell into my room as Aisling decided to suddenly shove me in like I was in prison. (Lost in here? I know its a mansion, but I don't know if I'll get lost. I may only be eleven, but still...) I thought to myself as I looked around in my room. Or...temporarily my room. "Don't worry I got it Aisling. Thank-you..." I told Aisling as I looked through my room. "I wonder if the clothes are even my size..." I muttered to myself as I intentionally fell back onto the bed. "Oh this is comfortable...I don't remember the last time I've been on a bed..." I muttered to myself even more as I wrapped myself in a blanket. Sooner than later, I fell sound asleep, hoping there wouldn't be a Phantom Book suddenly loose.

Aisling sighed as she reached her room, quickly changing and then sitting on her bed.

'Today has been interesting...I hope Joshua doesn't mind me letting him stay here, I mean, it is kind of weird a girl letting someone stay in her house, and it is odd if the girl is living in the mansion by herself...' Aisling thought, wrapping herself up in the sheets.

'Maybe tomorrow will be better....after all, I am going to the city for the first time in a long time!' she thought as she soon fell silently asleep.

I slept quietly and peacefully, wrapped up in the warm blanket and on a fairly soft bed. Compared to the last few years of life, this was like sleeping on a cloud with a warm breeze passing by. Despite this comfort, it still felt somewhat...awkward of her letting me stay. It was a very awkward day too. Such a large house for one girl to live in. Not only that, but I had used a key into a keyhole that happemed to be on Aisling's side, I had gotten a seal on my hand-- almost like a tattoo, we talked about brothels, I read a pop-up book which eventually banished a lion...how on Earth would I explain this to anyone...?! Anyway, I would have to take her out into the city tomorrow too, at least I had plenty of money. I did remember some extremely delicious buns in town!

(Yay...bread! *o* )

The morning light beamed in from the windows and Aisling quickly covered her eyes up with her sheets.

' I don't want to get up...It's not like nothing interesting is going on today—Ah! I have to go with Joshua today to the city!' Aisling thought, sitting up and quickly getting dressed and such.

Aisling walked down the hall in a short black petticoat and the rest of her clothes similar to what she wore yesterday. She arrived at Josh's room, knocking on the door and then opening it.

"Josh! G-E-T up!" she called.

(I seriously thought it looked so darn delicious in the anime)

My eyes suddenly bulged open as I woke up with Aisling yelling at me. I covered over all of me with the blinding light through the window. "H-hold on Aisling! I promise I'll take you in a little bit, let me just change!" I exclaimed as I closed the door shut and examined through the clothes. "Hey, there is some my size!" I exclaimed again as I put it on. It was a pure long sleeve white shirt, like my last one. I put on the extra little collar I wore before and changed into pants that were white as well. Coming from a rich family, I was still used to all the formal attire. I then put on my socks and once again, white shoes followed by my white gloves, that actually had blue etched across the fingers. The main color on all my clothing was nothing but the gloves, although my blue eyes and blonde hair kept a nice color. I then walked out the room, "Okay, I'm ready. Follow me, I won't tell you our first stop just yet."

' That was fast, he's pretty formal to...maybe I should have wore something different...too late now.' Aisling thought, fallowing Joshua.

"I haven't been out in the city for a long time, ever sence my father moved me here, I wasn't allowed to go out because my identity might have been found." Aisling explained.

She was silent as they cut through the front yard with all of the overgrown plants, and dead rosebushes.

"Joshua, be warned, some people will know who we are..." she said in a low tone, opening up the gate that lead to a path towards the city.

I walked out the mansion alongside Aisling. "Nice, one day delivery." I said as I crouched down at the door and picked up a package. "Here, this is for practically saving my life. I wouldn't have known to use the key." I said as I handed the package to Aisling. "It's a pretty popular book series that I thought you might like to read." I continued. I didn't tell her what books were in there, but it was the series for Crown of the Dog Days. I then switched the conversation back to her topic. "Since your father, huh? Actually I never asked; who was your father? I mean he's not around here now, I guess." I said as we walked out into the city. Some people glared at us, we were a fourteen year old girl and an eleven year old boy after all. Not to mention I was so formally dressed. "I don't think too many people will want to act in broad daylight." I reassured Aisling as I walked with her toward the bakery with those delicious buns and breads.

"My father is missing, my mother died of heart failure when I was about seven years old. But that is another story. We'll talk about that when we get back. Oh, and Joshua, you don't have to reward me or anything. Its okay. I thank you and all, but are you sure this is necessary?" Aisling admitted, blushing a bit and keeping her head down.

"Where going to a bakery for breakfast?" she asked aloud.

' He's being too nice to me...I don't know what I should do...' she thought, a bit worried.

Edited by Sodom

Paying attention to Aisling's story, I didn't really know what to say. My parents were both gone, but I still hated it even more to hear someone else experience the same. Aisling changed back the subject, luckily. "Huh? Oh don't worry. I mean if it wasn't for you being there, I would've been killed by a Phantom Book. I'm the one who should be thanking you." I said with a smile. "It's at the least necessary for me to be thanking you, Aisling." I continued as we neared the bakery. "Trust me in this too, you won't be sorry for going to a bakery once you taste it. People from all over come to this town for this place..!"

  • Author

"Whatever you say, Joshua." Aisling said with a small smile towards his statement about the bakery.

"Your welcome...Joshua." she stated to him about the Phantom Book.

She opened the door to the bakery. It smelt of butter in there. and was full of people, and it wasn't long until Aisling bumped into a man who immediately turned around and gave the two a rude look.

"Watch where you are going next time little girl! What are you doing in here without your parents?!" he yelled.

She had to lie, she knew not to lie, but she needed to.

"Sorry Sir...my father is at work and my mother is at home with my newborn baby sister so she sent me and my younger brother, William, here with me. Please excuse me. I am Elizabeth Miller, Eldest Sibiling of the Miller Family." Aisling lied.

She slightly looked at Joshua.

‘‘Play along’’ she mouthed.

First day out and Aisling bumps into someone. Normally I hated, and was actually a pretty bad liar. But playing along like this would just be like me going back with my family. I first greeted myself as I would, despite Aisling doing that already. "Greetings, young sir, I am William Miller, middle child of the Miller family. I'm terribly sorry for my elder sister's mishap, I'll assure you it shan't happen once more. Please forgive any trouble or annoyances we may have caused. May I offer to buy a cup of tea in turn?" I asked politely then smirked to Aisling. "Quite a line, isn't there, dear sister Elizabeth?" I continued playing along considering the man was still near.

  • Author

Good...Joshua was playing along so Aisling had less threats.

"No, service from two despicible children like yourselves is vile." the man grunted and left, letting us move up in line a bit.

"Hey, Joshua. Good job...but we're not out of here yet so keep acting natural." Aisling whispered to him.

Was this town always like this? These people were very rude and loud. Aisling couldn't believe how rude this place was.

"Joshua..is this place always like this?" she asked aloud, but rather silently.

(Schemer, I'm going to sleep, its about midnight over here...)

(Okay, goodnight Sodom)

I scoffed silently as the man left. (Right...we're the ones despicable and rude...) I thought to myself sarcastically. I shrugged my shoulders to Aisling with a 'sure, I guess' kind of expression on my face. "Don't worry sister Elizabeth," I said somewhat quietly, but with the line in this place, people could probably hear us. Although, the man did give us a free move-up in the line. "I'm certain we'll meet friendlier souls, there are plenty." I said with an expression basically saying, 'of course there are rude ones like him though.' "Besides, that wasn't exactly the best way to meet someone." I continued as we moved further in line. Sooner than later, we made it to the end and I bought twenty-five buns. "Aren't you a little young to be paying for your own food?" The employee asked. "And isn't that a bit much for two children to eat?" He continued. "No not really actually, and this food is delicious. We'd be lucky to finish this and not want more!" I complemented as I paid and grabbed the buns, as well as a small amount of tea in two cups.

  • Author

'Why was he doing this for me?' Aisling thought, helping Joshua.

"Why did you buy twenty-five? You didn't have to buy so much..." Aisling said in protest.

They'd eat the buns outside instead of in that place.

We walked down the street some, and Aisling stopped Josh at a bench where she got herself settled.

"This seems like a nice place to eat." she stated, placeing the bag of bread beside her so if Joshua wanted to get to them (Of couse he would), he could.

Aisling quickly gave thanks to God, and then afterwards, grabbing a bun out of the bag. She held it in her hands for a minute, the warmth of the item escaping fast.

' Come on Aisling...he's trying to be nice and pay you back.' she thought, against herself.

Without further adue, she took a small bite out of the bread. It taste of butter and almost melted in your mouth. This was unlike any bread Aisling has had before. After swallowing, she looked at Joshua with a smile.

"Thank you Joshua!" she said happily, then turning back around, taking another bite out of the wonderful bread.

Joshua was right.

I sat down on the bench where Aisling had stopped me. "I wasn't sure how much you ate, but I didn't want you to stay hungry after this. Not to mention, with this bread, eating feels like Heaven..!" I exclaimed and smiled as Aisling did. Thanking God as well I may have blushed a bit, but I began eating the bread afterwards. I took a bite out of the scrumptious bread and began chewing then swallowing. "Heh, your welcome, Aisling. I told you it was delicious..!" I said happily, yet somewhat hungrily. Before eating more bread I placed two.cups of tea stable on the bench. One near me and another near Aisling, in case she gets thirsty. After that, I ate. If only all food was this good.

"Thank you, Joshua..." Aisling thanked him.

"Lets bring the buns with us while they're still warm." Aisling said with a smile, turning to the cup of tea.

The truth was..she despised tea, but she wasn't going to be picky around Joshua. So she forced the liquid down her throat.

She took the two last bites out of her bun, grabbed another and then stood up.

"Joshua, we need to get moving. Come on." she said, taking a bit out of the new piece of bread.

I gave a quick smile, "Your welcome, Aisling." I said and then continued to eat the bread. I just couldn't get enough of it, it felt as addicting as drugs. We had probably only about four or five left already. Before I left with Aisling I took one last sip of my tea, delightfully. "Sure, but uh do you want to lead the way and explore or something?" I asked Aisling, considering she was leading us now. "Or do you still want ne to walk around instead?" I asked, eating the third-last of the buns after.

  • Author

"That would be nice if you would lead me around...I would end up getting you lost..." Aisling admitted, picking up the bag that had the four buns left.

Aisling then turned serious, looking down at Joshua.

"Josh...wasn't that man in the store a little ...off? Do you think a Phantom Book could have interfered with the bakery?" she asked seriously.

I looked up at Aisling, "Yeah you're probably right..." I said as I stood up and looked around, wondering where to go next. "I admit that man was really rude, but I don't think a Phantom Book is causing it! People nowadays are either really nice or really rude, its weird." I told Aisling and thought about it for a second. "Although you ARE the Biblioprincess. So we can go and see, better safe than sorry, as they say." I said as i looked around and spotted the man, whom had seemingly finished eating only recently.

  • Author

"Joshua, I didn't mean we would go spying on people...we'll just keep a sharp eye and if I see something wrong, I'll let you know. Let's go." Aisling said, grabbing onto his hand again and moving him forwards.

"Um......are there any interesting places around here Joshua?" she asked, letting go of him and placing both of her hands on the bag as they both walked down the sidewalk.

I looked back at Aisling, letting out a small sigh. "You're really unspecific, aren't you?" I said sarcastically and rhetorically. She grabbed me again, I was already getting used to it. At this rate, I would be dragged or something-- as easily as a doll too. "Huh? Oh right, well let's see...there's several inns, there's a perfumer, a construction site for a concert hall...oh right, I can actually play a little bit of violin. They're just expensive. Anyway, there's a bunch of houses, the rubble of my house, a newspaper making warehouse, and a few other places." I mentioned some off the top of my head, aside from the brothels of course.

  • Author

"That's boring..." AIsling said with a sigh.

Aisling looked around, as they continued walking, spotting a little girl with a book in her hand, younger then Joshua, being chased by a man.

"Come on Joshua, we need to help her. Let's go." she said, grabbing onto the Joshua's hand once more and running across the street, after the man.

"Hey! Who are you! Leave her alone!" Aisling yelled.

The man stopped running after the little girl and turned to Aisling. The little girl was crying and the book on the ground.

"Ohh...why if it isn't a cute little girl...where are your parents? You have nobody but this pathetic little boy here." the man said.

Aisling pushed Joshua behind her and kicked the man where the sun never shines, then kicking him in the ribs.

The man winced and ran off.

"Weakling...sorry you had to see that Joshua..." she sighed, letting go of Joshua's hand and walking to the little girl.

"Are you okay?" Aisling asked, picking up the book.

'Vesper Collumba' Aisling read to herself.

'That is latin for Evening Dove...that's the name of this book?' she thought.

The atmosphere changed and the little girl gripped onto Aisling's neck, choking her.

"You despicable human...or should I call you the Bibliotheca Angelus Tenebrarum?" the little girl asked, her eyes were a pitch black.

This girl was possessed by Phantom Book, the Vesper Collumba...a Phantom Book.

"H-hey, Aisling, are you sure she's not just crying and he's her father or something?!" I asked frantically, although I did end up wrong. I mostly ignored the man's statement, although clearly irritated. Despite that, Aisling apparently didn't care. With what Aisling did to him, I was now a bit nervous and uncomfortable. "Even for a guy like that, Aisling, that's a really harsh thing to do..." I stuttered, reminding myself to never get her mad. I then glared slightly down to the girl in the book. "That means...Evening Bird...or, Evening Dove I think." I thought aloud. "A Phantom Book, Aisling? Maybe it's sort of like that one Phantom Book from the Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian...I believe it was the Book of Wisdom. Where those kids knew so much and decided not to try anyway. Is it sort of like that?" I guessed and asked Aisling as I picked the girl up to have her let go of Aisling's necklace. She began kicking, hitting, and complaining to me, but I didn't want to see Aisling choke. "Should we burn it? Or what did it even do to-- ow!" I yelped as the girl bit my arm but I held onto her anyway.

  • Author

'That's right...I shouldn't have done that...' Aisling thought, picking up the book.

She grabbed the girl out of Joshua's hand and ripped one of the pages out of the book. Aisling ripped about five pages out of the book and decided she couldn't keep up with a complaining little girl and trying to rip phantom book pages. She reached into her jacket pocket, lighting a match and throwing it on the book as the book burst into flames.

"Joshua, lets go." she said, grabbing onto Joshua's uninjured hand as the girl looked down at the burning book and she came to her senses.

"Sorry about your book...we can't have that in this world." she said, walking off with Joshua.

They walked for a while and Aisling brought them a little ways down an alleyway.

"Joshua...are you okay? Sorry...I shouldn't have done that to that man. I'll try not to do that...but I knew she had something. She had a book that teaches the forbidden, knowing more about different humans then others. Oh, Joshua...I am not like the Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian. I am the Bibliotheca Angelus Tenebrarum, the Navy and Black Biblioprincess. The Black Library, the Lost World...Yes...you know what I'm saying. I am the complete opposite of the Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian. Don't be mad at me...that was more of an instinct..." Aisling spoke truthfully, wrapping Joshua's arm up in her hair ribbon.

"That will do for now, or at least until we get back to the mansion. Joshua...I want to go back." Aisling stated.

I glared at the girl and the burning book. She was coming to senses, but I wouldn't want her to get hurt-- much less start a fire. Once the book was turned to ashes I stomped on it until the fire was put out. "Heh, no I'm fine, Aisling. She was just a little girl, it may have hurt but its nothing serious." I said calmly, happy that she was caring for me anyway. "And don't worry about that either, if a guy is being crude enough, you can do...'that' to them. I just hope it doesn't backfire on me." I assured Aisling as I began to think of the main two Biblioprincesses I've heard of. (The World inside the Gourd, the Fallen World, and now Aisling being the Lost World. They're all Biblioprincesses and Libraries, I wonder what the main distinction is between them then. Hm..?) I thought to myself, soon looking down to see Aisling wrapping my arm in her ribbon. "Oh you don't have to do that, Aisling..." I muttered, then looking ahead towards the direction of the mansion. I nodded to that request, whether it'd be my choice or not. "Okay. I actually think I left two of my daggers in the hallway." I mumbled, this time I grabbed her hand and strolled over towards the mansion.
