Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian~ The ‘Shadows' Case’ ~ [A 1x1 between Neko-chan and CloakedSchemerX]

Posted

-Introduction-
In England after World War I, Hugh Anthony Disward, also known as Huey, has finished his travels with Dalian and is currently watching her in good health. Hal Kamhout and Flamberge have finished off most of the Phantom Books, but it is still unknown if any still exist. ‘Professor’ and Rasiel have not been seen after the printer-company incident. The girl from the archives still is held within Dalian and the archives are still to access. A new Biblioprincess has been chosen, with a new Key Keeper. After discovery of hundreds of more Phantom Books, what news reporters called ‘The Shadow Case’, has traumatized many villagers and the new, unknown Key Keeper is being called out by the Biblioprincess, The Shadow Case, will have to be taken care of, also the effects of The Shadow Case.

-‘The Shadow Case’-
The Shadow Case takes place of demoniac shadows that come in different forms, some even possessing humans. Effects of the Shadow case include these shadows becoming monsters, burning down towns, causing reverse effects that should not be held in this world. The world is going out of balance because of this case all because of Phantoms Books. That is where the Biblioprincess and Key Keeper come in.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYqg97kSGuA Lyrics:

Miku:

Still...You are...All alone..

The sky is so blue
If only you knew it
If only you knew it...ahh

Meiko:

Where am I?
Even though the sky is blue
What I see is burned sand and rock face

The winds howl
Even though the horizon is far away
I was moved

Dried lakes
Burning fields
Someday they all will get back on the track
So, now I go forward

Even to the far future
There is a way to link
So, do not turn around
We can go through it

Len:

For everybody
That's what they said but...

In the starless sky
Light is overflowing
Since when
Have we been deserted?

The ladder that reaches to the end of the sky
I can't ascend it
In the cold world, holding hands,
We live today as always
We're not lifeless

(Stars, falling stars)

Someone, please give me courage
To face forward without turning back
The iron giant should shake the earth,
Disturb the atmosphere and follow

Even so I'd rather go with someone laughing
Than living all alone
Kick the earth to get onto the atmosphere
Believing in a fate that I can meet you

Aisling watched Joshua closely.

"Joshua...when a biblioprincess power is used against someone, the person whom her power effected will forget that they ever saw us. We can eat the remaining buns for dinner." she said, as she opened up the weed-grown gate and the tow walked down the overgrown path.

She unlocked the door and brought Joshua inside, setting him down in the kitchen like area, then placing the cold buns on the table. Aisling lit a fire in the fireplace, then turned to Joshua. She got a wet cloth and whipped the bitten area off with water.

"Josh...you were bleeding. Its my fault this happened to you." she said in a lower tone, wrapping his wounded area up in bandages.

"I'm sorry..." she apologized, taking out the remaining four buns and placing them on a separate tray, placing then fairly close to the fire.

"That'll warm them up..." she said, sitting down in a chair beside Josh.

I followed Aisling through the gate and up to the mansion, occasionally gazing at my slightly bleeding arm. It was wrapped with the ribbon though. Whether it helped or not, it was indeed comforting at the least. We went back to the mansion and Aisling set me down at the kitchen area and started a fire. The fire felt nice and warm, but I gazed into the fire and soon zoned out. Reminescent of that Phantom Book I had a glimpse of before everything turned to chaos in my life. The fire crackled and burned intensely in my eyes, I could see in the faint distance several silhouettes of those I knew and loved. The flame grew greatly. Ambers flew from the ashes and seemingly flew to my eyes in a small burning sensation. Soon enough it turned to mere ashes and dust. "Uh-- oh, sorry. I was zoned out for a bit." I noticed Aisling had wrapped a wet cloth now, it may have been what caught my attention. "Thank-you Aisling. But I already told you, you don't need to apologize for anything. The fact of my arm getting hurt like that was my fault." I said to Aisling, although I couldn't help but smile at the thought. I looked down at my white arm sleeves-- which were now red stained with blood. I then turned up to Aisling and glanced at the flames and ambers again. "Yeah, just...thank you."

"It's about time I replay you." Aisling stated, walking to the fire and quickly snatching the metal tray away from the fire and quickly handing Joshua two pieces of the bread, leaving her two pieces as well.

She bit into the slightly burnt piece.

"What is your story, Joshua?" She asked, watching the fire.

I smiled, "Hm, I guess that might be true. But you did deserve all I've done for you." I said as I glanced at the Crown of the Dog Days books. "But maybe I might read them too." I chuckled and then took a piece of the now warm bread. "I don't know how many times I'm going to say this Aisling, but thank-you." I said with a faint smile after I swallowed. "My story, huh?" I glanced at the fire then turned back to Aisling. "Well I've told you before, I came from a busy and rich family. I guess you can consider me spoiled with food and books, but my family never had the time to spend with me by the time I turned five. I just learned on from there. I was always the runt with the other kids and didn't fit in. I was always that kid who would pay attention in school and spend recess in the library. Always getting nailed by a ball whenever I did go outside. I learned how to play violin and it wasn't a life too bad. Once I turned nine, I believe my parents or at least one of them had bought some Phantom Book. That's when the house itself burned down but most inside stayed intact. I salvaged money and the key mainly and stayed on the streets to live. The only time people were nice to me mainly were the people I was a customer for. With the money, food was easy to get. There were a few nice and kind people but the majority were rude. Some offered me tea and then took some money, others knocked me unconscious for the Hell of it, and that's how my life was for three years. I came to this mansion, and you know the rest. Enough about me though, aside from biblioprincess stuff I guess, you still had, like, fourteen years of life. How was it?" I explained then asked rather calmly. Talking about my family was alright now, when it was to her.

"When I was born, I had two older siblings. My youngest brother was born after me. I was the only girl aside from my mother. When I was maybe six years old, my mother had a heart attack one night. About three months later, she died of heart failure. At this point of time, I was unaware of my...power. Until my family became knowledgeable of the Phantom Books. My father told me I was the Black Library, and sent away my siblings to a different contry. He sent me here and then disappeared." Aisling explained, keeping eye contact with Joshua.

I listened to Aisling with plenty of intent and concentration. "I'm sorry to hear about your brothers, and mother. I wish I could've met them. But maybe...maybe your father is alive." I told Aisling as I bit into the bun and moved onto my last one. My last bun, what a shame. I released an exhaling sigh, "I guess neither of us have had the best of childhood lives." I said, despite me technically being a child still. Now...what to do...

  • Author

"Ya, I guess we didn't have the greatest childhood." Aisling said, taking the last bite out of her bread and grabbing her second piece.

"It's not like we could go back in time...right? Phantom Books won't allow that...plus there is nothing we could have done." she said, taking a small bite of the bun.

Aisling sat in silence, watching the fire. When she finished, she put up the tray and looked at Joshua.

"Joshua...Im not feeling that well, so I'm going to go to bed. Good night." Aisling admitted, looking back once more to Joshua before walking back to her room.

I nodded and finished my last bun. "Hm? Sleepy already, Aisling? Okay, goodnight. I'll stay up for a little bit." I told Aisling as she went up to her room. I let out a small sigh of the quietude in this mansion, it was really creepy when it feels alone. I feel bad for Aisling, being in this place alone for who knows how long. I stood up and walked through the halls, picking up the two daggers I had once thrown to a shadowy lion. I placed it back with my other daggers and walked ahead seeing a small black door handle. It was camouflaged, almost like a secret or hidden room. I walked in and then down stairs from there, seeing books. "Huh, I guess the Black Library...has her own hidden library." I said as I looked ahead a book on a chair, apparently read recently.

'I am SUCH an idiot sometimes...I shouldn't have done that to that girl...now I feel guilty...well at least Joshua didn't have to open the gates...' Aisling thought, laying sideways in her bed after getting changed.

The sun was at the verge of setting, but it probably would be better if she got some rest.

'I don't want to go back to the city...but eventually I'll have to. Maybe we can go to the perfumer...and get some more buns.'  Aisling thought, then falling into a silent sleep.

I coughed a little bit as I made my way, walking through the hidden room. "Wow this place is dusty. I feel like a bibliomaniac shoved his books in here, sent a horde of spiders loose, then abandon this place." I mumbled to myself, finding only few books that were legible -- whether due to dust, tears, water or just language. I made my way out of the room, not wanting to ruin anything-- especially the book still lying on the chair. I walked up and closed the hidden door, walking through the halls then near the fireplace. I sat in the chair, with a book in hand. Things like this always interested me somehow. 'The Divine Comedy.'

Aisling hasn't dreamed in a while. Usually when she DID dream, the dreams made no sense.

-Dream-

Aisling stood in a field with somebody's familiar figure in front of her. It was her oldest brother. Aisling had a good bond with her oldest brother.

"Aisling...you know you aren't like others." he said to her.

At this point of time, Aisling was pretty young.

"Me..not like the others? What do you mean?" Aisling asked with a laugh.

"You'll see one day Aisling. You'll meet someone one day and he shall take you on a great adventure." her brother stated.

"Adventure?" Aisling asked.

"Why he'll take you to see the city, and the forest...maybe even an old house, or maybe he'll take you to the mountains!" he said.

"Maybe!" Aisling said with a smile.

The moonlight glistened through the windows. "Huh? Have I been reading this book for that long?" I asked myself, it was barely the sunset as I began to read. "I'll finish it some other time, I guess I should get some rest." I closed the book with a bookmark and placed it atop a small coffee table. Dante Aligheri's Divine Comedy. With knowledgeable biblioprincesses, otherwise known as The Book of Virtue and Sin...a Phantom Book. Perfectly normal in my hands it was a catastrophe if in another. The power to say and convince anyone right from wrong, good from evil, and manipulatung what IS good or evil. It was a book that could decide someone's fate from the streets or jail...more especially from Heaven or Hell. Little did I know. I walked over to my room and wrapped myself in the sheets like a pizza covered in cheese.

Aisling slowly opened her eyes, seeing it was well past sunrise. At least she was feeling better. She got dressed in a fairly sized white dress, still managing to keep her gothic lotica look in a white dress.

' Better go wake up Joshua...' she thought, heading in his direction.

I woke up slowly and lazily, soon wrapping myself back up under the sheets. I sighed as the sun glistened through the windows and seemingly burned through my eyes. "Just...sleep..." I muttered to myself. I couldn't sleep again, flipping and turning on the bed in a poor attempt to try and sleep. I heard footsteps higher up in the mansion. "If she sees me asleep, she'll kill me..." I mumbled with another sigh and stretched out of bed. I yawned and looked through clothes, now using black as a main color. I put on simple black slacks and a white undershirt followed by a long-sleeve black overshirt. I put on my usual white socks and white collar, but now wearing black shoes. I slipped on my white and blue gloves, walking out the door still rather lazily and my hair a bit messed up.

Aisling came upon Joshua and she smiled.

"You're so cute sometimes." she said, grabbing his hand AGAIN and walking off towards the kitchen like area.

"I was thinking about going to the perfumer today...and of corse getting some more buns. Oh, and maybe I'll take you to the forest..." Aisling wondered aloud, setting him down again.

"Is your arm okay?" she asked seriously.

Walking out the room I stumbled upon Aisling already and glared at her with my heavy and tired blue eyes. "Hm...?" I asked rhetorically as she soon grabbed and took me to the 'kitchen' area. She grabbed me often, was it an instinct? Who knows... "The perfumer? Sure." I yawned then soon became slightly more awake just at the thought of buns. "The forest, huh? What're we going to do there? Or...nevermind, I guess you'd probably like to see a place like that." I smiled and glanced at my arm. "Oh it's fine now. Just needed a bit of pressure and time, is all." I assured Aisling as I picked up the Divine Comedy but didn't open it up.

  • Author

"I mean I really don't want to go to the perfumer, but we can't stay here all day..." Ailing said, then glancing at Joshua once more.

"Why do you have a Phantom Book? This is a book of Sin, you don't need to be reading it..." She snapped, grabbing the book out of his hands.

"What would we do in the forest? I've read about the forest, and it seems like an okay place to go. I've never been in the forest before..." Ailing admitted.

I gave a yawn and nod to Aisling, then looked over to the Dante Aligheri's Divine Comedy. "A Phantom Book? I mean I already read plenty of it." I told Aisling with a sigh. (I was going to read that...) I thought to myself but decided not to complain over it. My gloved hand ruffled my own hair a little bit, boringly. "Heh, you know everything out there right, Aisling?" I asked with a minor chuckle and trickled my fingers on the table. "The spiders, snakes, poison, thorns, venus fly traps, bees, flys, and of course all those creeky bugs."

  • Author

"Then maybe we should stay here today and starve to death" Aisling said, understanding Joshua was still tierd.

"Oh, I don't know everything...dont even assume that..." Aisling said, sitting down with a sigh ad she began to tap her finger on the table.

I sighed again, "I guess you're right, we probably shouldn't stay here all day and well, starve." I replied, seeing Aisling's statement as sarcasm. "And I don't really either, but with insects, animals, and even some plants being dangerous I was wondering if you minded or not." I said as I lied my head on the table briefly. After a small amount of silence, I lifted my head to Aisling, "So to the perfumer then?"

  • Author

Aisling looked at Joshua.

"What would we do there anyway? Your right...we shouldn't go into the forest. Especially both of us being dressed up today." Aisling said.

'Today is Joshua's third day here with me, I hope he is doing okay.'

"Joshua. Are you okay staying here with me...I mean it is odd..." Aisling asked.

I looked up at Aisling with slight regret of me saying anything. "No no no, I'll go wherever as long as you want to, I just wanted to make sure you weren't going anywhere you didn't want too...!" I said in an attempt to keep her more happy and upbeat. "I mean I'm dressed up like this all the time...!" I exclaimed quickly. I looked at Aisling and became a bit surprised at her last statement...or question. "Aisling, I love being here actually!" I exclaimed again. "You know that. I mean it was a bit odd at first, yeah, but as a keykeeper I always have to be with my biblioprincess too." I said, then continued. "Not to mention you saved my life and treated a wound of mine, which I can't do anything but say thank-you..." I continued. (And for all my life you're the closest I've ever had to a sister. For three years...the closest to a mother.) I thought to myself.

"You weren't about to die Joshua, you'll get into plenty more life or death situations, trust me." Aisling assured Josh.

"Um...maybe...we can go to a library and I can get something for you, then we could go get some buns." she suggested, picking up the first volume of The Crown Of The Dog Days.

"Thanks for getting these Joshua." she said with a smile.

I wasn't exactly excited or amused at the thought of another life or death situation, but I suppose I have absolutely no choice in the matter, whatsoever. I simply nodded but gave a sigh as well, "I guess so, I can't stop it." I said quietly. "Oh Aisling we don't need to get me anything, I'm fine how it is now." I said a little shyly and leaned back on the seat. We would probably get some more bread later anyway, we that stuff's addicting AND...somewhat...good to eat. I watched Aisling as she held Crown of the Dog Days, "Oh your welcome, Aisling. " I said still at the least, a little shy.

"You have away to stop life and death situations. The Key. You just have to open the Kon to Kuro no Yomihime." Aisling assured him.

"Oh....um.....Joshua...I have to tell you something important that I haven't told you yet, and it hasn't been giving me problems, but it's best you know...um....I am blind in my right eye....don't feel pity...it doesn't bother me....but I was born like that." She told him kind of uneasily.

"Well, lets go." She said with a smile, standing up.
