Prologue
An old keyblade master sits in his office at his desk thinking. It is a bright sunny day and the sun is shining through the window onto his desk. The old master looks out his window into space just thinking. His office is full of books, documents, and papers of his knowledge of the world around him. The master wears a long sky blue robe with purple trim. he wears blue purple slippers since it is mid-morning. He has long, snow-white hair and a long, snow-white beard. As he looks out the window from his chair, the light shining onto his desk becomes brighter and he cannot see anything outside, but he is not blinded by it. He then hears a mysterious voice speaking to him.
"For these next fourteen days, you must write what I tell you upon a black tablet. What I tell you in one day must be written upon one tablet." The old master quickly obtains a black clay tablet and stylus. The mysterious voice then instructs him what to write and he wrote it for fourteen days.
Chapter1:
Tachytito
Many years ago when all worlds were connected, there was a city called Keyblade City. It was a kingdom ruled by a beloved king and queen. It was a flourishing place with much employment and a demand for even more. The castle was grand and sat upon a mountain with the town nearby built into another mountain. A bridge connects these two places. The king and queen loved their people and the people loved them in return. The king and queen actually allowed the people to have a voice in affairs with domestic and foreign issues. The king and queen were on their balcony facing the town having their morning breakfast.
"Isn't it a beautiful day Sophia?" asked the king in pleasure and relaxation. Queen Sophia looks up from her meal and looks around at the bright day and the shadows upon the town and castle.
"Indeed it is Eleos." she replied, "What I am more concerned about right now are dark keyblade wielders trying to shut the light from this kingdom and bring ruin to it. If that happened, what would we do?" she asked in nervousness. She was indeed worried because darkness has indeed rose from the hearts of some because they discovered a weapon powerful enough to control and unlock a mighty force that man cannot comprehend and wanted to control it. She was concerned very much, but tried to keep it hidden from the public.
"Oh come now dear, I am concerned as you," he said, "but I created the Warrior of Light school so we do not have to worry about this. I specifically set it up so it would teach the youth who enter all of the dark forces that could possibly be out there including about those who wish to control the X-blade and Kingdom Hearts and gave them the liberty of choice in teaching what and how they wish."
"Yes you did, but the people are like our children to me," she replied, "I do not want to see any go astray. They are too precious to me like our own children."
Eleos, in love and in consolation, got up from his chair and kissed her on the lips.
"I know my love." he said, "We do have the warriors of light on our side. The police force has been trained to arrest any who tries to bring darkness to this world. Do you understand my dear?" She nodded in uneasiness, but also in understanding. He smiles and returns to his place at the table and they continue to eat their meals in peace. Indeed, there were some people suspected of bringing darkness to the world or were part of darkness themselves with hearts drowned in it. Yet, the peace was kept and there were few arrests. However, some people who belonged to darkness, kept it silent to tear down the kingdom slowly and invisibly. They could be anyone: merchants, black and silversmiths, teachers, anyone. There is a blacksmith though that has darkness in his heart, but ever since his wife brutally left him, he allowed it to grow and he shut himself almost completely from the town. His business was done in secret for the police for whom he made armor. The blacksmith allowed no common folk into his shop, so the shades were usually completely down. He owned a slave whom he horribly treated to take his anger out on him. He was never happy or satisfied no matter how much he took his anger out on him. One day, he came down from his workshop to his basement to see it covered in black soot. He immediately became furious and stormed across the room and into a small, poorly lit section of it.
"Boy!" he shouted and a boy of about sixteen years of age came up to him in fear. He wore a long, dirty over-shirt and wore no shoes or socks. His name is Tachytito. He was an orphan and the blacksmith "adopted" him so he could have slave labor and a punching bag for his fits. Tachytito had dark blonde, spiked hair that was dirty from all the dirt in the basement. He had ocean blue eyes and an innocent face.
"How come it is still dirty down here?!" he hollered, “I ordered you to clean this up a half an hour ago! What is the excuse?”
“I was cleaning the rear of the shop sir.” Tachytito said fearfully, “I did not expect it to take so long, so I decided to take a little rest from so much work.” The blacksmith’s face turned red in anger and a small dark aura surrounded him.
“My rear end you wanted to take a rest!” he shouted. He then struck Tachytito across the face with the back of his hand and then struck the other cheek with his palm.
“The only rest you get is seven hours of sleep at night. Now clean this soot up and I expect it to be done in twenty minutes tops!” he ordered. Tachytito quickly obtained a broom and started sweeping. The blacksmith grumbled on his way back up to the shop to bend a plate of armor into place. Tachytito swept the floor of the basement near the cauldron of liquid metal. He was used to this so his body was cover in bruises and sometimes cuts. The cauldron was not in use so it was empty whenever there was no demand of armor. Although this armor could be contained in one or two plates. Tapping it with one’s hand summons it. One can also separate themselves from it if they wished. The blacksmith owned over five hundred designs of plates; each one is not the same as the first. Tachytito, after twenty minutes, was exhausted from so much sweeping and went to his small room for rest. His room was small with only a thin mattress on the floor for him. The room was four feet by five feet by three feet and it was poorly lit. As the evening came, the blacksmith had his supper of soup and bread since he became too cheap to buy food from the market. After his meal, he goes back down into the basement into the small room in the rear. He finds the floor swept very clean to almost immaculate. He goes to Tachytito’s room and finds him with a door open and sitting on his mattress.
“It’s supper time so hear is your bread.” he said with no care. Every piece of food given to Tachytito was precious to him since he ate so little even though it was scraps from his master meal. He ate the piece of bread in joy since he is fed one piece of bread twice a day. As the sun was going down, he dusted the shop when the blacksmith finished his work and went to his bedroom on the second floor. He made sure to get every nook and cranny that existed in the shop otherwise his master would strike him three times. As he was dusting a table with a feather duster, a shadow of a figure came right across where his hand and duster were. Tachytito stopped for a moment wondering who or what the shadow belonged to. He looks at the window of the door half covered with a shade and a mysterious figure is standing there looking into the store. Tachytito freezes in fear and stays still. the figure has a white hood covering its face and all Tachytito sees where a face should be is shadow. The figure looks through the window and stares at Tachytito. To him, the minutes felt like hours and the moments felt like minutes. All Tachytito did was stand still and did not move a muscle and did not flinch. After five minutes (more like five hours to Tachytito), the white mysterious figure stands up straight and walks away. Tachytito finally let go of his breath and started moving again. He was in a daze since he held it for so long and many thoughts rushed into his head.
"Who was that and why did he stare at me for so long?" Tachytito asked himself aloud. He then quickly finished dusting while doing so with accuracy. After he finished, it was twilight outside in the town. Tachytito went up the stairs to the second floor and went to his master's bedroom. He then knocked on the door three times. The blacksmith, who was in his bed garment, opened up the door and sighed at the sight of Tachytito and then groaned.
"What do you want boy?" he asked in a loud and grumpy voice, "Make this quick; I am going to bed very soon."
"Master, I was sweeping your shop clean and while I was doing so, a mysteriously, hooded figure looked through the window of the front door and stared at me.” Tachytito said, “I was scared and so I stood still. I did not know who he was since his face was in shadow and he appeared to be observing me.”
“Oh come now boy, no one in this town would do such a thing.” said the blacksmith, “I have the shades almost closed because I can’t stand working in the dark with candlelight as my guide. I even put the sign out to make it seem like this place is out of business. Stop the lies you little rat and off to bed with you or I will sock you one!” the blacksmith shouted. Tachytito did what he was ordered and on his way to the basement, he heard the bedroom door behind him slam shut and more grumbling from his master. Tachytito was lost in thought as he sat on the mattress in his small room with the door shut. He thought about what happened in to him in the shop for an hour. Once he realized it was dark out, he laid down and went to sleep with his mind full of thoughts and questions. Who was that figure? Why was he staring at him? What was he observing him for? Tachytito had to put these questions to rest for the night.
Tachytito, an hour before dawn, got up and prepared the shop for his master. He found the plate of armor being worked on and the hammer and placed them all in proper position for his master. He then went back down into the basement, obtained the wood for the fireplace across from the cauldron and placed the wood into the fire, but did not start a fire since his master would sock him at least twice for “wasting” wood. Tachytito then swept the entire floor of the basement and first floor from any overnight dust and dirt. It took from six o’clock in the morning to eight o’clock when he completed all tasks. He finished just in time when his master came down to restart work.
“Everything is ready sir.” Tachytito reported. The blacksmith looked around and saw everything in place and clean.
“Mmm... good.” he replied with no care or joy for him. Tachytito then slid back into the basement of the shop and into his poorly lit room. As the blacksmith was bending the plate into place, two men came into the shop. One carefully closed the door. One was tall and a little chubby and the other was a little short and muscular. They wore armor without the helmet and the blacksmith recognized them as the police.
"Good morning Thymos. We are in need of four plates of armor." the taller one said to the blacksmith. Thymos looked behind him at the shelves of armor plates, then looked back at them.
"Go ahead and do not take too long." Thymos said sternly.
"Yes sir. We shall not take long at all." the shorter, muscular one said. They both went to the shelves to see what was in stock. They looked at every shelf and mumbled to each other disputing which plate they should obtain.
"We just had four students chosen to wear the armor at the Warrior of Light school." said the short man. "The master said it was the right time for them to wear it."
"Wonderful for them." Thymos replied in sarcasm. He continued using the hammer to bend the plate into place. The two men finally made a decision and picked the four plates.
"We shall take these four. What is the cost for these? asked the taller man. Thymos observed the four plates briefly.
“Let’s see. For all of this: 40 munny total.” he said. The two men raised their eyebrows at the price.
“Sir, it is a special occasion for these youths. Why not a discount for them?” the shorter one asked. Thymos just gave both of them a dark stare and said nothing. The two men looked at each other, sighed at each other, and then the taller one pulled out a sack and paid the price of the plates. They said farewell to Thymos and went to leave. First, they looked out the window to see if anyone would watch since the streets of Keyblade City were bustling. Then, the two men exited the shop. Little did they all know that the whole time they spoke to each other, Tachytito was at the bottom of the stairs listening the whole time. He slowly walked around the basement in daze and amazement. Many thoughts raced through his head about the content of the conversation.
“It would be cool if I had armor like that.” he thought to himself. Tachytito even smiled at the idea the more he thought of it. As the afternoon came, Thymos realized that he needed goods from the nearby market. He called down to his slave.
“Boy, I need you here now!” he ordered. Tachytito, who was in the middle of thought, came to his senses at the call and scrambled up the stairs to his master.
“I need some fruits, vegetables and bread.” Thymos said, “I want you to go to the nearby market and get me all of this. Take no longer than thirty minutes. If I find that you ate any of my goods or take any longer, I’ll sock you three times over!”
Tachytito nodded in fear. Thymos then gave his slave a wood basket and a sack of 100 munny in it. Tachytito then went of, but before exiting, he carefully checked for wandering eyes and then exited the shop. The sun was high in the sky, people were walking about talking and laughing and the birds sang. Tachytito wanted to soak it all in, but remembered the threat and turned to his right and start walking down the cobblestone street. No one noticed him or paid him any attention, but that did not bother the boy since he did not know better. The outdoor marketplace was a few blocks down the street in the middle of a square and in the distance was the Keyblade City palace in its glory. Tachytito saw people crowd around the produce trying to get all of the necessities for their families. Tachytito went to the different sections of the market and obtained what his master ordered him to get. As he was paying for all the produce and the bread, he turned to go home, took a step, but then stopped. He felt someone stare at him. The boy looked around him and at a store corner to his right, leaning against the store, arms folded, was the white cloaked mysterious figure with his hood up. He was only about ten steps away from the boy. Tachytito saw him, froze, and stared back. The figure stayed at the corner for a few more moments, then stood up straight and walked over to Tachytito. The boy just held his position in fear. Once the figure was a foot away from the boy, he stopped and looked down at Tachytito. The boy could not see the face in the hood even that close, but all he did was look into the darkness of the hood.
“You’re a rather interesting and authentic boy.” said the figure in a cool and calm male voice. The figure then turned to his left, walked around the market, and disappeared into the crowd in the square. Tachytito did not speak once or blinked. All he did was keep his eyes on the figure the whole time until the figure left him. After watching the figure disappear into the crowd, Tachytito quickly ran home. He tried to make sure that the produce and bread would not spill over. Once he reached the shop, he quickly checked for wandering eyes, then entered and quickly, but silently, closed the door. He found his master standing two steps away from him, arms folded, and foot tapping on the ground. Tachytito was gasping for breath when he walked through the door.
"Well, well, well... you're late by five minutes!" he shouted, "I also see that you're out of breath realizing that you were late. Give me a good excuse as to why you were late!"
"Master, I saw the mysterious figure again." the boy said, "He was staring at me like before. He was leaning against a shop corner. I stopped and stared back at him. He then got up, walked over to me and said 'you're a rather interesting and authentic boy'. He then walked away and disappeared into the crowd and all I did was keep my eyes on him the whole time. I then ran back here." As Tachytito was speaking his case, Thymos was getting madder and madder. His face was completely red and a medium sized dark aura surrounded him by the time Tachytito finished his case.
"Bringing up that story again are we!" he screamed, "I thought I told you not to bring up that story again! Now you have a lie to enforce it! YOU FILTHY SCUM!" Thymos then went over to the boy and struck him across the face four times (two per cheek). Then, he socked the boy in the stomach three times. He then grabbed the boy by the cheeks and forced his face to look up at him. Tachytito has few tears in his eyes since he is used to it, but has not experienced that pain in a while.
"If you try that stunt all over again, I will make sure these next seven days will be torture for you!" he threatened. Thymos then shoved the boys face away and ordered him to go to his small room and stay there. Tachytito was obedient to his master and did as he was told. It was the afternoon and he stayed in his room until five o'clock in the evening, then swept the basement. His master forced him to do so three times over even though the basement was not that dirty. Thymos then forced the boy to sweep and dust the shop four times over which took another two hours. Tachytito did not have his bread that his master gave him so he went to his bed with an empty stomach.
The next day, instead of preparing everything for his master, his master called him.
"Boy! Come here at once!" he called down to him. Tachytito ran up to him as quickly as possible.
"Boy, today is the festival of Kingdom Hearts. Everything is closed and no one does business today. We're going to the square where you met this 'stranger'." he announced. "I guess I will be nice and give you a break for this day only. It is open grazing with tables of food. Take what you want. Do not embarrass me either or you’ll pay dearly!” Tachytito was overjoyed at hearing this since it was only once a year.
“Sir, what is Kingdom Hearts?” Tachytito asked.
“Something that you will never understand.” Thymos replied sharply.
Tachytito just shrugged it off and they both checked for wandering eyes. Then, they turned to their left and walked down the street to the sound of music, chatter, and the smell of cooked food. Now this festival is celebrated for Kingdom Hearts (a heart shaped moon containing the hearts of all worlds). It is a force that is incomprehensible. Kingdom Hearts holds a tight connection with man and the citizens of Keyblade City (including the royal family) throw a celebration in its honor and in thanks for giving everyone its light. It is only during this time of the year that it is in its full visible splendor and radiance. Everyone in all worlds can see it on this day. As Tachytito and Thymos were walking down the street to the square, the boy looked up and saw Kingdom Hearts for the first time. All he did was drop his jaw.
"Oh yes. I assume that answers your question." Thymos said, "Watch where you're going boy!" Tachytito snapped out of it to make sure he did not trip over anything or bump into anyone. Once they got to the square, they found tables full of food. All types of meats, roasts, vegetables, fruits, and pastries. Everyone was laughing and having fun. Tachytito saw upon a stage in the far back two people fighting with interesting swords. Tachytito was about to ask his master what they were, but when he turned to him, he was gone. The boy then went to all of the tables trying to eat what his malnourished stomach could handle. He ate almost one of everything and did not hold back. He even watched a fighting match for a little. As he was about to go to the pastries table on the left hand side of the street. He looked down and saw an interesting sword. In curiosity, he went over to it and picked it up. It was the color of dark brown and the handle was a light brown. It had a keychain and the symbol Tachytito somehow knew even though he never saw it before. He recognized it as the symbol of wind. At the blade, it became five spikes with rectangular edges with grooves in between.
"That sword you're holding is called a 'keyblade'." said a cool male voice. Tachytito remembered the voice from the previous day. He looked up to where it came from and there was the mysterious figure leaning against a door and only seven steps away to the boy's right hand. Tachytito was not so afraid this time.
"Is that what it's called? A keyblade?" Tachytito asked.
"Yes." the mysterious figure replied, "It is a very powerful weapon. Only so many are chosen to hold this. What you are holding is called the 'Wayward Wind'. Keyblades take shape to one's personality and abilities. I see that it has chosen you." Tachytito in amazement looked back down at the keyblade in his hand. He was going to say something else to him, but found the figure's hand on his shoulder.
"I sense that our paths are destined to intertwine." he said. Then the figure left and vanished into the crowd. Tachytito looked at the weapon in his hand in amazement with his mouth open.
"Ahhh...there you are boy." he said. Tachytito looked behind him and found his master who apparently was looking for him.
"We're leaving now so I hoped you stuff-" He stopped speaking abruptly and looked at the keyblade in Tachytito's hand. His eyes grew big and his breathing became heavy out of fear.
"Wh-wh-where did you get that?" he asked in a hoarse voice like he had a soar throat. Tachytito looked at his keyblade then at his master who did not blink.
"I found it on the ground sir." Tachytito began, "My curiosity got the best of me and so I picked it up and took a look at it. Then, the white mysterious figure told me that it is called a keyblade." At that word, Thymos immediately looked at his slave, with the same look and heavy breathing.
"He then went on to tell me that what I am holding is called the Wayward Wind and keyblades take form to one's personality and abilities." Tachytito continued, "He also told me that only so many hold this and it appeared that it has chosen me. I go to say something, but he puts his hand on my shoulder and he says that he senses that our paths are destined to intertwine." The next thing Tachytito saw happened quickly. Thymos stormed over to the boy, yanked the keyblade out of the boy's hand and threw it to some place in the square. The sound of metal on cobblestones assured that no one was hit with it. Then, Thymos gripped the boy's arm violently and he dragged the boy home. After checking for wandering eyes at the door, he opens the door and threw Tachytito into the shop violently and the boy fell on the floor. Tachytito then scrambled to stand up. Thymos, quickly closed the door and was even madder then ever. Now this time, a dark aura (well visible) surrounded his body and Tachytito thought that he saw a hint of gold in his eyes.
"I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO STOP THE LIES!" he screamed. "I warned you that if you pull the stunt again, the next seven days will make you wish you never were born! I make you labor your behind off and was kind enough to take you to a festival and allowed you to go on your own and stuff yourself! Now I find you with something that I gave you no permission to hold and bringing up the old mystery man to enforce your position! Is this the thanks I get? YOU UNGRATEFUL, LITTLE, SEWER RAT!" Thymos then beat Tachytito for five minutes. Half of the time, he relentlessly socked the boy harder then ever and relentlessly struck him across the face for the other half." Tachytito had never felt so much pain ever that he actually sobbed a little when Thymos was done. Then, the blacksmith ordered that he go to the basement and clean everything: every nook and cranny for the whole time. Tachytito obeyed and as he was going down the set of stairs, Thymos shoved him and the boy fell down the stairs. Luckily, there were only ten steps and Tachytito did not break or fracture a bone, but he quickly got up and went for a broom and dust pan. It took the whole day until ten o'clock at night, but thank goodness that Tachytito stuffed himself otherwise he would have passed out hours ago. By then, his pain went away, but his cheeks were bruised and his stomach a little sore. Thymos, who watched the whole time then ordered him to go to bed and reminded him that he'll be doing it all over again tomorrow. Tachytito put away the dust pan and broom and went to his small room in the rear of the basement. He sat on his mattress and thought about the keyblade that was in his hand. He held out his hand pretending to hold it in his hand.
"Keyblade." he said to himself. He finally went to sleep and let sleep overcome him. The next day, his master got him up early and put him to another day of brutal work. He watched for the first four hours from six o' clock to ten o' clock. He temporarily went up stairs to continue bending a plate of armor into place. As he was upstairs, Tachytito stopped sweeping for a moment and held out his hand pretending to hold the keyblade. All of a sudden, where his hand is, light appeared and it grew. It took the shape of the keyblade and then the keyblade actually appeared in his hand. Tachytito held it (in reverse grip as how it is properly held, but he did not know that) in amazement and dropped the broom. Thymos came back and at the bottom of the stairs, he saw the keyblade and froze with a fixed gaze on the boy and the weapon. Tachytito quickly looked up and started breathing heavily with some fear because he knew that it would not be good for him if his master caught him. Indeed it happened; he was caught. What was minutes felt like hours to the boy as they both stood there with fixed gazes. Finally, Thymos snapped out of it. His face turned red like very hot coal and his eyes became golden and a large dark aura surrounded him. Tachytito became even more afraid.
"WHY YOU LITTLE, PATHETIC, DISOBEDIENT IMBECILE!" Thymos screamed. He then stormed over to the boy. Tachytito closed his eyes and looked away and kept his eyes shut and face away the whole time. Suddenly, all was quiet in the room. Tachytito opened his eyes and looked at where his master should be and beheld the horror in front of him. The boy, with the Wayward Wind, accidentally stabbed his master right in the middle of his chest! The boy held the keyblade in regular grip when he accidentally did so. Thymos had has eyes wide open and mouth wide open in shock and his arms and hands out as though he was surrendering. All he did was stare at the boy and he did not speak a word. The boy gave the same shocked and horrified look back at him diverting his gaze from the place where the keyblade pierced and the shocked face. He was so horrified that he let go of the keyblade and took and few steps back. Thymos then fell backwards onto the floor and laid there eyes closed and keyblade sticking out from his sternum.
All Tachytito was stare at the lifeless corpse in horror with heavy breathing and eyes wide open. The keyblade then disappeared in a cloud of light and the corpse dissolved into little lights which rose up into the air and disappeared. Tachytito looked at the spot for a while and then ran upstairs, out the door without checking for wandering eyes (thank goodness there were none once again) turned to his right and just ran away. Where he wanted to go he did not know nor care; he just ran away. As he started entering the square, he felt himself stop abruptly as someone grabbed him behind the shirt.
"It seems that you are in distress and hope to run away." said the cool male voice. Tachytito stopped and looked up and behind his left shoulder was once again the white cloaked mysterious figure.
"If I am correct, you accidentally stabbed your master with your keyblade when he went to beat you and you killed him." he continued. Tachytito looked at the ground for a moment in shame. He then realized something and looked back up at the mysterious stranger.
"Wait, how do you know all of this?" the boy asked in confusion.
"I have my ways." the stranger replied, "Come, walk with me. I have a special place for you. I assure you it is not prison, but better." He led the boy through the square and Tachytito just followed.
