I don't know if it's just me, but if you compare cutscenes of Lightning in FFXIII and FFXIII-2, her voice has changed. In the first game, her voice was, well, normal. It was Ali Hillis, just with some sass. But now it feels like Ali's trying too hard, and because of it, Lightning's voice just seems too deep.

 

I love Ali to death, but I just feel like she's trying too hard with Lightning's voice these days...

 

Is it just me, or is there something going on here?

I haven't noticed, but if it's true, it's probably more because of the context. In XIII, Lightning was more passionate and dead set on her goal. But in XIII-2, she's just fighting, she doesn't have as much passion as before.

Lightning's voice actress is amazing, and she does an incredible variety of voices you don't even know she does.

I haven't noticed since Lightning is my favorite Final Fantasy character, next to Cloud. Also I haven't beaten Final Fantasy XIII yet, and I got the second one when it came out. So, I am behind on Final Fantasy at the moment. Plus I am having a little problem with me being stuck on a level, but I will eventually beat it. I am going to beat Final Fantasy XIII one day if it kills me just so I can listen to Leona Lewis while playing a video game. I am a Leona fan, so XIII will always be a cool game to me.

She probably wanted to make it sound more "god-like" esp. after what happened after the end of XIII and to make all the useless poems she says throughout XIII-2 make sense.

Maybe she had another bad birthday ?
