Year 1: Monday April 1st, before class

 

I walked toward the new building along with the flood of new students. A cherry blossom fell onto my shoulder. I picked it up and smiled. "Ah beginnings." I looked forward and up. "I feel that this is going to be a good year."

Henteko walked up to Natsumi's tree. "What are you doing up there?" He scratched his messy green hair and stretched after a hard day of absolutely nothing.

Natsumi smiled,"Well my friend came up with a game and after class is out we become a target." She held up her nerf gunblade as she spoke.

"So I thought I could hide up in a tree and when one walks by jump out and get them."S

She leaped out of the tree and held out her hand,"I'm Natsumi but you can call me Natsu!"

The boy shook Natsumi's hand in a weird circular motion. "My name is Henteko. You can call me whatever you want, though." Henteko pointed to the Nerf gunblade. "Are you gonna stab some other kid?"

"Oh nope just the others who are carrying similar weapons." Natsumi looked around making sure no one was around.

"Hey do you want to join? You can help me keep an eye out for them and maybe you can get a weapon too."

Henteko shrugged. "Sure. I've always wanted to be in mortal danger of stab wounds." He stooped down, touched the dirt with a few fingers, and streaked a few lines of war paint under his eyes. "What's the plan, soldier?"

Natsumi laughed,"Weellll I would say we could stay up in trees and use our ninja stealthiness to leap from tree to tree..but i'm not sure how safe that is sooo..."She trailed off thinking up a plan when her eyes suddenly lit up.

"I know! just stay low and blend into the shadows of the buildings we should be able to sneak up on em."

"Don't let your guard down, Natsu-chan!" I fired my pistol twice and was rapidly closing in, my sword in my other hand. "Let the games begin!"

Natsumi jumped backwards as the bullets zipped past her head.She smiled a childish grin,"Nice shot almost got me!"

With ninja stealth she quickly ran behind  Kyameron swinging the gunblade towards him.She kept an eye on his sword,ready to jump back if swung in her direction.

I blocked the strike with my foil, pivoted and lunged at her side, "Sorry if this hurts a but. You get that stuff from competition."

Natsumi managed to jump back having the sword graze her side,"Are you kidding I'm used to this competition!"She took another shot at striking Kyameron in his side,"Hey we wouldn't be aloud to use hand-to-hand combat would we?"

I side-stepped. "You mean melee other than the blades? I don't see why not." He took half a step back, waiting for the next strike.

"Yes! thanks." Natsumi steadied herself into a fighting stance.She had learned karate and basic ninja skills at a young age and had been practicing ever since.She was much more better at combat than wielding a weapon.Keeping alert,Natsumi swung her leg out planning to hit Kyameron in the back of the knees.She was careful not to put all her strength into the kick like she had been taught,but enough force to bring the target to their knees.

"Oh right! do you mind if Henteko joins in."

I jumped away from her kick and tossed my nerf pistol to Henteko. "Why not, he can have this. I was never a distance fighter anyway." I sheathed my sword behind back. I reached into my pocket. "Well, the sun's about to set, I've got places to be." I pulled out the small marble and threw it to the ground. It exploded in a puff of smoke and I ran off. "This is the best school ever." I said to myself.

"Okay! I suppose I could go find Shugo-Kun..."Natsumi trailed off and smiled at Henteko,"Well congrats on joining the game it's actually a lot of fun.See ya later!"Natsumi smiled childishly and began running back towards her dorm.Once inside her own room,Natsumi placed her nerf gunblade on her table.She sighed as she pulled out some paper.She drew random chibis until finally deciding to study and get some sleep.

Unknown to Natsumi and the dude, Henteko fell asleep with his eyes open. He was to awake next morning still standing with dirt on his face and nerf gun in hand.

 

Yes. He fell asleep during the intense combat.

Monday, April 1st, Year 1, Twilight

 

 

I stood there, waiting. "I wonder if she'll show up." I wondered aloud. The setting sun was a bright orange. An old quote I heard a while ago came rushing back 'Light is made up of lots of colors... red travels the farthest...' Well, I had all night, I waited.

Henteko was creeping around the school's roof, eventually stopping and facing the setting sun. This should be a good spot, he thought. Henteko pulled out a wooden board with square holes in it. He set it vertical, so that the last rays of the Sun cast a checkerboard shadow. He began to play chess by himself.

"Hm...time to go." Ritsu said quitely, heading out.

She walked around the school about twice, finally finding a way to reach the central roof. She arrived, making her way over beside the boy.

"I hate to tell you I forgot your name again." she said rather quietly.

I smiled. "It's Kyameron." Turning to Risu, I asked her, "Twilight is quite nice isn't it? The sunset is just beautiful."

"Why did you call me up here Kyame-kun?" Ritsu asked.

She switched a lot between kun and senpai.

"And you were the one who sent this?" she asked, handing the letter over.

"Yup." I replied. "You seemed like an interesting person. Someone worth being my friend, but you also seemed like someone who doesn't talk to people much, probably doesn't have many friends. So, assuming I'd be one of the first would-be friends to approach you, I decided to make a little extravagant."

"Isn't this too extravagant?" Ritsu asked, staring at Kyame.

 

(Short post/shot)

"Not for my tastes at least." I replied. "You've heard the saying go big or go home haven't you?" He laughed a little. "Hey, bet you don't know why the sun sets red."

"I am betting you I do." Ritsu said to Kyame's last statement, turning to the sun with a blank expression.

"And no....I have never heard that expression..." she sighed.

I laughed. "You see, light is made up of lots of colors, and out of all those colors." He gazed into her ruby colored eyes. "Red is the one that travels the farthest."
