This 1x1 will be parallel to the real SAO storyline. We will be expanding on the world of SAO a bit, so don't be alarmed if something happens that doesn't have to do with the storyline or that was not ever shown in the real story. This was just to clarify things.

Okay, here I go.

Player Name: Spore

Age: 15

Gender: male

Sword Preference: an overall balanced blade

Sword Style: This is where I add to the SAO world. I use these things called stances. Stances are part of the passive skill tree, unlike Sword Skills, which require you to do something specific to activate them, and are thus active skills. Not many players use stances since the Sword Skills are generally easier and more effective to use. I use them because I don't like to be restricted to a specific movement like in a Sword Skill. A player with a stance power enters the stance after some amount of time after entering battle. Some stances trigger very quickly, and others take more time. Stances provide passive bonuses to regular attacks and stats. Multiple stances can be assumed in the same battle, and their effects will stack. I generally get to my mid-tier stance in most battles, but my advanced stance usually only activates in long battles. I think I'm done explaining now. Tell me in the comments section if you need anything clarified.

Stances:

Basic: Swordsman Stance (improves parrying, disarming, and recovery time)

Mid-tier: Shifting Shadows (improves speed, accuracy, and reaction time)

Advanced: The Whirling Infinite (causes attack power to increase as my attack combo increases. Also allows for an infinite attack combo.)

LET'S DO THIS THING!

You first.

I'd actually like to lay some ground rules that I thought of, just to make things easier for combat flow and stuff. When we fight monsters (tougher monsters, not weak ones that attack in a huge mob), we should switch every five posts, unless the other person says its ok to keep going. The person who is not fighting at the time controls the monster's actions. This goes for duels and personal interactions as well. Just make sure you designate the thing you are posting for. You can still post your character's input/reactions if you want to. I can tell you more at school tomorrow if this doesn't make sense.

NOW IT BEGINS

Sikota was virtualized into the court of the Town of Beginnings. He stretched. "Aw man, this NerveGear stuff is awesome." He looked around. Everyone had a sword. He swiped down in front of him opening the menu. He had 300 Cor. "Shopping Spree... I guess." So he went on his way.

When he was finished, he had 42 Cor left and was well prepared to both look and play the hero. A nice thin sword at his side tilted at an angle as so it didn't drag as he walked. The powerful blade was the bulk of his expenses but he also bought a short cape that draped over one shoulder. "I better start powering up before other players start asking for help!" He ran toward the fields.

(Do we know each other from outside the game, or do we meet in it?)

  • Author

(We meet in-game... but it's more than likely that we'll recognize each other once the Mirror activates)

(I see. Alrighty then. I suppose I wasn't expecting you to be playing the game, and so was surprised when I found out you were there.)

Spore materialized in a shimmer of light and little diamondy things. He looked around at the stone buildings of the Town of Beginnings. He set off into the market and purchased a better weapon and a mid-length cape with a hood. The sword was balanced in almost every way imaginable: length, width, hand grip length, cross guard length. A good reliable blade ready for any situation. The cape was mainly for looks, but also served to shade his eyes from the sun. He bought no sheath. He also grabbed one of the free guide books that were at most of the stores. Spore always read the instructions before playing a game. As he was about to set out for the field, Spore saw another player dash past. A player with red hair hailed him and ran after. "Hmm. Seems like things are already cooking." Neisan strode out not the field, his blade in his hand.

Edited by NatronSpore

Spore sat down on a rock and read through the tutorial parts of the guide. "So Sword Skills are used for attacking, and a specific motion input is required for each skill." Spore's kendo instructor had always told him to never attack the same way twice in a row. It seemed these Sword Skills would require him to do just that in order to use them. "Screw them. I can manage without them." Spore walked off to find a monster to fight. "I will prove to this game I don't need to use it's pretty Sword Skills to fight!"

(Oh, and just to let you know, the colors Spore is using are black and lime green, like the colors I used for my Lego ships that you've seen. Let me know what your colors are.)

A boar rushed up behind Spore. "Look out!" Sikota shouted. In an orange streak, he shot through the boar and it was digitized into it's dead state, waiting to respawn some time later. The battle results appeared before him. "Let's see here, dropped some Cor, and... Aw yeah, LEVEL 3!" He turned to face the player he just 'rescued' "I know we all want to fight things to gain our experience but that thing would have hit you hard. Especially if you haven't leveled up at all yet."

(Outfit-wise, it's basic browns, with his sword skills, they're orange and occasionally purple)

"I've been busy reading about the game, from this handy guide. You should get one. And thanks for saving me, I guess." Spore looked around at the field of boars. "So that's what a Sword Skill looks like. Pretty powerful too. I hope I can do without them." Spore walked over to a boar. His sword dangled at his side, leaving him seemingly defenseless. The boar charged, and at the last second, Spore sidestepped and brought his sword down on the neck of the boar. The blade cut deep, the boar squealed, and burst into more shimmering diamondy things. "Yeah, I think I can manage. Then again these boars are really weak." He walked back over to his rescuer. "Sorry for not telling you before. Sometimes I forget about people. My name is Spore."

"Sikota." He extended his hand to the other player. "And if you intend to play without Skills, you're in for some trouble. We'll see how long you last." He laughed.

Spore took the hand and shook it firmly and with much vigor. "I suppose we will." He got a sly glint in his eye. "Want to party up? I need to raise my level." He sent a party invite to Sikota.

Before Sikota was able to press the "accept" there was a bright flash and before he knew it, the were back in the courtyard. "What's going on?" The sky turned red

WARNING

SYSTEM ANNOUNCEMENT

What almost looked like blood seeped from the messages in the sky. They combined to form a hooded figure not showing a face.

More shimmering and diamondy things. Then the Town of Beginnings courtyard. A bell tolled, then stopped, and the sky went red with system warnings. A huge Game Master materialized above the courtyard. He looked around, spotted Sikota, and walked over to him. The GM said some things. Apparently, there was no log-out button. Then Spore felt the weight and gravity of what the GM was saying sink it. They couldn't log out. They were trapped. They had to die in this game, or clear it, and death was a real thing now. The GM also had a present for them. A mirror? Then, even more shimmering and diamondy things. Spore looked into the mirror again, and saw. . . Neisan, not Spore. The game had mirrored his real appearance. The GM seeped back into the ceiling. There was utter silence. Then, from somewhere in the crowd, "NO!" The screaming started. Neisan looked over to Sikota. "We need to go, my friend."

"You go! I'll catch up, I need to try something." Sikota ran on top of the pedestal. "Hopefully people will be able to hear me." He cupped his hands over his mouth and shouted as loud as he could. "Everyone listen up! I'm making it my duty to get us out of here! Any and all deaths from this point out will be my fault! But I can't do it alone! I need people who are willing to play the hero with me! Side with me and we can get everyone out of here!"

"I'll help!" A girl had raised her hand. Dressed in yellow, with a small sword hanging horizontally at her back, she had long dark hair in pig tails. Her only noticeable armor was a piece on her shoulder.

"Me too!" A generic looking man who was rather different form everyone else he had seen. This man, not only had a very plain face, but he was covered in armor. He was surprisingly mobile for his fortifications.

The chaos continued. "I guess you two are all I'm getting. Name's Sikota."

"I'm Severa." Said the girl.

"Aelan." Said the armored man.

"Allright, come with me." Sikota replied. "We need to find our second in command, Spore. He's most likely in the next town over. Let's go!"

Spore ran out of the Town of Beginnings into the field. His sword never left his hand as he slew numerous monsters, all without using Sword Skills. "I can do this. I can survive and still do things my way." On his way to the next town, he saw another person running. This person was dressed in black and navy blue, and as he was running he did a charging attack past a wolf. "Hmm. Guess he has the same idea as me. I'll let him be." Spore saw a wolf spawning a short distance away. His sword flashed as the wolf slavered at him, then went in to bite. Neisan turned his sword edgewise and sidestepped, letting the wolf's momentum carry it through his blade, cutting the wolf in half lengthwise. 34 Cor, Wolf Pelt Bracers, 150 xP. LEVEL UP! 4 -> 5 "I'm doing this. I will not die." He reached the town and sat down on a bench to wait for Sikota.

(Posting because I'm bored.)

Sikota hadn't arrived , and Spore had been sitting for a good twenty minutes now. Might as well go grind in the field, he thought. Spore picked himself up and walked out of the town, his sword in his hand. Since he was currently solo, Spore decided to play it safe and take on only isolated monsters, especially since you could actually die from playing this game. A shiver ran up and down his spine. He found an isolated wolf, and got close. The wolf noticed him and locked on, it's eyes turning red. Spore was ready. As the wolf reached out to claw him, he side-stepped, bring his sword around in an arc that slammed the wolf in the side. Spore didn't waste time: the side slash was followed by a scything uppercut and a vicious stab behind the neck. The wolf exploded, to Spore's great satisfaction. Why can't I have a little fun in a death game?

Sikota led Severa and Aelan across the fields. "There he is." He pointed to Spore. They caught up to him. "Spore, these are our new recruits. Severa and Aelan."

"Sup?" Severa said.

"Nice to meet you." The armored man bowed.

"With formalities aside," Sikota continued, "I suggest we go into town and get some rest, we'll start planning things first thing tomorrow morning."

They had snuck up on him. The they part was surprising enough. He hadn't expected Sikota to have any success in grabbing people. "Uh - hello. I'm Spore. We might as well party up right here. I'll start it." Spore sent the invite to the three people. It will be better with four of us, Spore thought.

  • Author

The four players all partied up.

"Allright." Sikota started. "Let's find a place to-"

He was cut off by the spawning of at least a dozen of what looked like silvery bears. "Aw dang. Okay, time to show the system people power! Aelan, listen to whatever Spore has to say. Severa, it's you and me." He drew his sword. "Rising Sun!" In a burst of speed, he appeared below one of the bears and thrust upward, knocking up and back. "Severa, Switch!"

He jumped back and Severa came whirling in and cut the monster from above, it wasn't enough however and in response, the beast sent her flying backward.

"Severa! Switch in, Spore!" He rushed to his ally's aid.

"Gladly." This will be fun. First time fighting in a group. Spore rushed in, swiftly avoiding one of the bear's attacks. He drew a long cut across the bear's chest, then whirled around and brought the slash across another bear. This second bear brought its claw back for a sideways slash. Spore brought his blade up, then at the last moment leaped so his feet were against the length of the blade. The bear's slash contacted the blade, launching Spore several yards away without harming him. "Aelan, switch!"

Aelan moved forward with surprising speed, bring his sword down in an arc of plum. The blade crashed into one of the bears, knocking it down. The bear burst into shards of light. Aelan used his shield to block an attack coming from his right, then slammed the attacking animal, knocking it to the side. "Switch, Sikota! I'll tend to Severa."

Sikota switched in. "Lunar Arc!" Swinging diagonally up, blade engulfed in purple. The bears HP was brought down to 2/3. "Aelan, cover me!" He jumped back and held the hilt of his sword to his chin, blade pointing toward the bear being held off by. The purple energy built up its charge. "Now!" Aelan jumped to the side and Sikota lunged forward, through the bear. "Lunar Arrow." He kept going, eliminating another bear with a single blow. He looked back. "Spore, how's Severa looking?"

"All right. She'll live, that's for sure. The bears aren't that strong. Severa, can you hold on for a minute." Spore stood up, his blade flashing. "Screw switching. Why not attack at once?" With that, Spore made a run into the midst of the bears. Once there, he went into a frenzy of cuts and slashes, dodging and parrying left and right. Some of the bears' attacks even hit other bears. Spore went too far, though, and one of the bears gave him and good smack. He was launched out of the fray. "Took a couple down, I'm hurt now. I'll guard Severa."

Aelan came in and smashed the last of the bears. The battle results appeared before the players. "Each of them leveled up, even Severa who was already almost finished with level 3 to start. "We all took a beating from that. Let's rest up in town." Severa's health was especially low at the moment. Sikota walked over and offered a hand to her. She accepted and he slung her arm over his shoulder to support her. "Don't expend too much energy now."

Severa looked away. "Hmph, you just wanted my arm around you."

"You can barely walk."

She sighed. "Fine."

Aelan walked over next to Neisan. "Is it just me or is she going to reluctantly end up falling in love with him?"
