(Wait, am I the leader, or are you? I'm confused as to whom Severa is staring at.)

Spore was knocked off his feet. That was all he knew until he got up and saw an auburn-haired girl apologizing and bending to pick up baskets. "Let me help." he said as he bent down to gather up a package. "And I should apologize as well." And I should apologize to myself, he thought, for not reacting quickly.

"Th-thank you." She mumbled. She noticed that Spore didn't carry around a sheath. Just his sword. "Um... Do you want something to hold that in?" She asked. "I can go ahead and by one for you of you don't have any spare Cor."

It was at that point that Spore noticed the sword in his hand. First time today, he thought. Jeez, I could have skewered her on accident! "A-ah, no thank you. I prefer to carry it." Spore put the package he had picked up into one of the baskets and bent to pick up another. "If you don't mind my asking, what are you doing carrying so many packages. Somebody could steal them."

  • Author

"Oh? No reason!" The auburn haired girl replied quickly.

"Just stocking up for a bit of a camping trip. I'm Asuna by the way." She said, smiling.

(OH MY GOD I HAD NO IDEA)

Spore smiled back. "I'm Spore." Then he realized she could see him smiling. His hood was downed by the fall! Spore opened his mouth, closed it, then pulled up his hood. His cheeks reddened slightly under the safety of his hood. He opened his UI and sent a friend request to Asuna. "If you need me for anything, just send word." With that, he stepped past her and continued down the street. He knew it was abrupt, but he could see no other way of explaining his strange hood-wearing behavior.

(Aren't I tricky?)

"Uh... Right!" Asuna accepted Spore's friend requested ache walked away. "Thank you!" She called after him.

Sikota checked the clock in the inn room. He had checked out one for the girls, and two for the guy's. Aelan and Berin were settled in theirs.

"Where is he?" He wondered aloud.

Spore quickly made his way to the market and purchased some bread loaves, a bit of cheese and meat, and a tiny jar of an aromatic spice. He made his way back to their lodgings. "Sorry I'm late. I bumped into a girl, which delayed me a bit."

  • Author

"A girl, eh?" Sikota cocked an eyebrow. He paused for a bit, then chuckled. "Just kidding."

Sikota plopped onto one of the beds. "So do we have some kind of plan?"

"Yes," said Aelan. "Sleep." "But we still have an entire afternoon in the day," complained Gayle. "And what's all this about a girl?!" Spore backed away slightly. "Honestly, we just ran into each other! I helped herd pick up her baskets, and she went her way and I went mine. Speaking of which, we're having omelettes tomorrow morning."

Sikota and Severa exchanged a look before both chuckling. "Alright." Sikota announced, standing up. "Off to bed. We can plan in the morning. Girl's are in the room across from here, our knights are in the one next to that."

"I won't be denying it," Barin started, "but knights?"

"You got the armor for it." Sikota replied.

Aelan shrugged before exiting. Barin behind him.

"Have a good rest." Severa told Sikota. Gayle stared at Spore, but Spore deliberately looked out the window. With a frown and a blush, Gayle flounced out of the room. After the rest had left, Spore lowered his hood and ran a hand through his hair. "Sikota. . ." he began, then paused. "I've been thinking, we have this group of people. It has only been a few months, but I feel like we've been with them forever."

  • Author

"It's a weird feeling, isn't it?" Sikota asked rhetorically before lying down. He couldn't help but feel similarly. Fighting for each other's lives must do that to you. His skin had been saved numerous times by his new allies, he felt like he owed them. Heck, he'd probably die for anyone in the party. "Oh, and Gayle totally has a thing for you."

Spore grimaced. "I noticed." He sat down on a bed. He looked out the window at the bustling town, the streets filled with hope after the successful first boss fight. "Sikota, if someone told you he was in the beta test, what would you think about him?" Spore was referencing the scene with the dark haired boy after the fight.

  • Author

Spore wasn't a beta tester was he? It would certainly prove his skill...

Sikota sighed. "I really don't give a crap." That was actually kind of vulgar for Sikota.

"We're all trying to get out of this game alive. So what if a handful of people got a head start?"

"Heh. It wasn't a head start. A lot of things are different already. Like that boss's final stage." Spore had known it too. He just hadn't reacted as quickly as the dark haired boy had. But he wasn't done with questions yet. "What would you say to forming a guild?"

  • Author

"I'd say things are looking a bit early for that." Sikota replied bluntly. "Let's see if we survive the next few floors first."

Across the hall, Severa had just changed into a black night gown and taken her hair out. Without the pig tails, her black hair cascaded down to her waist. She sat on her bed. "Can I ask you something, Gayle?"

"Sure. What's on your mind?" Gayle asked. She was sitting on her bed, looking out the window at the streets of the town. They were beginning to calm down as the evening wore on. She had also changed out of her regular gear, now wearing loose pants and a T-shirt.

  • Author

"What's the deal with you and Spore?" She asked bluntly.

"If you like him, you should just go ahead and tell him."

Gayle jumped out of her reverie at Severa's words. "W-well, what about you?! You have a thing for Sikota!" Gayle blushed furiously. It seemed her emotions always displayed themselves through the color of her face.

  • Author

"I do not!" Severa shot back. Her face was also red. "We're just... On the same wavelength or something. And besides, he can't take anything seriously. There's no way I'd fall for a guy like him."

"Well, whatever. I suppose I do like Spore. But he doesn't seem interested in me. More scared than anything." Gayle sighed and sank down onto her pillow. "Do you think I should talk to him?"

(Let's do a nighttime encounter when Spore is out doing his twilight farming.)

Glad that the matter was drawn away from herself, Severa lay down and sighed. "At the very least, you should talk to him. Confessing your feelings. Well that's another story. Maybe wait a bit until he knows you better."

(I think this is what you meant)

Monster after monster. They were slain with relative ease. A black silhouette (redundant much?) of a player appeared behind Spore. Though the supposed player's indicator was a bloody red, and had no name. The monster drew a ninjas from the sheath on it's back and charged at Spore.

(Yeah. Having the meeting be at night. You control Gayle for this.)

Spore whirled around and brought his sword up. The curved blade of his opponent was deflected upward, and Spore dropped down low and knocked the monster's legs out from underneath it. As it fell, Spore flipped to his feet, bringing his sword down and through the monster. It screamed as it was pinned to the ground, making a feeble swipe with its sword. Spore sidestepped, gripped his blade with both hands, and brought it up through the monster'a head. Spore straightened as the monster vaporized, scanning to see if there were any more monsters. He caught sight of one figure approaching him, but its marker wasn't red. It was green.

Severa turned over on the other side of her bed. "Gayle?" She was gone. "Damn that girl's stealthy. I wonder where she went..." With no real concern, Severa turned over again and went back to sleep.

The silhouette, this one smaller, stopped on its tracks. Definitely a player, judging by the green indicator and the fact that it was opening a menu. A few seconds later, Spore received a notification: ????? Has Challenged You To A One Strike

Spore was surprised when the challenge came. He squinted, trying to discern who his challenger was in the failing light, but he could not. Spore hesitated for a second, the touched the blue circle, confirming the duel. The countdown timer appeared in the air between the two, and Spore readied his blade. His first stance would activate in twenty seconds. . . Ten seconds. . .
