i just bought persona 4 arena after i played persona 4. after seeing labrys and aigis etc. i was so confused. what is persona 3 about? what are those robots that look like humans? is there a tv world in persona 3? if not, how do they get there personas? do i have to understand persona 2 to understand persona 3? how does persona 3 compare to persona 4 gameplay wise? why is labrys think she's student counsil? why or how did labrys lose her memories?

 

i would appreciate it if you could answer as many of these questions as you can.

you should really just play persona 3 and find out.

Personas are gotten in p3 the same way as in p4. There is no tv world but instead a dungeon called Tartarus. Labrys' story is mainly in p4A but a little explanation of the robots is in p3. You really should play p3/p3fes or p3p yourself though so you can enjoy the story and learn about the other stuff.

Persona 3 is about a group called SEES (Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad)who fights the shadows of the 12 Arcana in a time called the Dark Hour, which comes at 12 am every day. Aigis and Labrys are Anti-Shadow weapons build 10 year before the start of Persona 3 (Aigis: The Fist Mission) There is no tv world but the Dark Hour. For the MC, he/she gets their persona after the emotional shock of being shot in the head (personal opinion) with a "gun". You don't have to understand Persona 2 to understand Persona 3. In my opinion Persona 3 have better story than Persona 4 but Persona 4 is better at gameplay (Persona 3 FES has similar if not the same gameplay than Persona4). She thinks she is the president because she wanted to be accepted as a normal girl AND her trauma of being forced to kill her Sister Units (Other Mechanical Maidens) Also because she and her sister unit #24 wanted to meet an ill girl who was the base of the emotional program implanted on the Mechanical Maidens. I don't known if she lost her memories but ALL of her memories where transfered from her previous Sister Units before her and that means Aigis inherited Labrys memories since Aigis is a newer model than hers.

 

I hope that help, I'm so sleepy to remember everything but I known this can help you. Oh! and if you are going to play Persona 3 I think you should start with FES then Portable since Portable don't have "The Answer" episode

FES just adds a little more content that the Original Persona 3 in the form of the playable epilogue called "The Answer" this is what happens after the ending of "The Journey" or original story-line. The gameplay is more like in Perona 4 (My personal opinion is FES is better that the original because in the original you can't control your party)  Portable just adds the Female Protagonist route, which is a little different than the male, she has a male assistant in the Velvet Room named Theodore, youngest of the Velvet Siblings, Margaret and Elizabeth being his older sisters. also new Social Links but the story is the same.

i think i'l get portable so i can play it on my vita. (i have p4 golden and i dont want my parents to see the pervy cutscenes) but i dont expect it to be anywhere close to comparing to persona 4.

Well both games are great in my opinion, but it's up to you to chose the one you like

Just remember that Portable don't have "The Answer" and you will not know what happened to Minato/Minako AND Aigis emotional breakdown at the end of their "Journey". 

And once you are at the final battle you will remember this quote and the music theme full of epicness and awesomeness!!!

 

"The moment man devoured the fruit of knowledge, he sealed his fate... Entrusting his future to the cards, man clings to a dim hope. Yet, the Arcana is the means by which all is revealed...Eternity awaits..."
