Best Friends (An AkuRokuShion fanfic, cause I'm bored xP)

Posted

(The setting is like an average high school. I'm kinda relating it with my life... sorta.)

Introduction

Roxas suffered from amnesia through most of elementary school. Many couldn't exactly say why. Some say it's the grief that he's held over the death of his father.

His mother believed that by moving, Roxas could recover-- have a new start.

In 5th grade, Roxas moved to Twilight Elementary. He never really liked it that much, since most of the kids rarely talked to him.

In middle school, Roxas was glad that they had clubs that he could join. One in particular was an anime club, which is what he had been getting into over the summer. There, he met his best friend, an 8th grader named Axel.

This friendship carried on, even when Roxas was alone in middle school for the next two years. However, Roxas did make friends with three others-- Hayner, Pence, and Olette.

Finally, Roxas attended Twilight Town High School. He didn't have any classes with his friends (Axel was a junior, and the trio picked different classes), but he did find a new friend-- Xion.

Xion was a lot like Roxas. She suffered from amnesia two years ago. Having much to talk about, he and Xion became great friends.

Over the summer, Roxas invited Axel and Xion to come with him on his summer vacation, since his mother allowed him to. During this vacation, they had a memento, in which they ate ice cream on top of a clock tower.

School came back. They all share some classes with one another.

However, halfway through the year, this triad-friendship shall be tested...

very interesting. I don't like yaoi that much but hey it doesn't matter that much as long as the story's good.

Chapter 1

"..... Roxas...!"

I squinted my eyes, curious as to who's trying to disturb me. My head still rested on my arms, I opened my exposed eye and saw Olette, poking me with her pencil from her desk.

"... What?" I murmured.

Olette gave that smile of hers, replying, "Roxas, you fell asleep again!" I sat up, rubbing my eyes. "Did you get enough sleep last night?" she asked, a hint of concern in her voice.

"Not... exactly," I answered, inserting a yawn between my words. "I was up doing homework."

Olette giggled. "You? Homework? Since when?"

"Since Mom told me I had to catch up on my grades, or else," I replied.

Olette giggled once again. "And I thought I was the only one trying to catch you guys up." I grinned. "Oh yeah! Hayner, Pence, and I are going to go see a movie later on tonight. You coming?"

I was about to reply with a definite yes. However, I paused as something came to mind.

"Oh... No, I can't." Olette raised an eyebrow. "I'm going somewhere with Axel and Xion for the weekend."

"Oh...." Olette said slowly, sounding slightly confused. "Where to?"

"There's a festival going on in a nearby town," I explained, grinning again. "I've been saving up my money for this!"

"Well, I hope you have fun," Olette said, smirking.

The bell went off, signaling that fifth period had started.

"Hey, Axel!" I called as soon as I left class. Axel's classroom was right next to mine, so I didn't exactly blurt it out loud. Axel's head popped out of the door.

"Yo!" he greeted, grinning. "What's up, Rox?"

"One more period!" I cheered, grinning as well.

Axel grinned even more, stating, "Yeah, then it's off to the festival!" After walking down the hall a little bit, he asked, "Did Xion say her mom's picking us up?" I nodded as a response. "Alright, awesome!"

"How come you don't have your license yet, Axel?" I asked him. "Aren't you of age?"

"Ugh, you make it sound like I have to marry a car, Roxas," he began. "Besides, I don't exactly picture myself as a good driver. Do you?"

I glared at him, muttering, "Good point."

Reaching the end of one hallway, we were about to turn the corner, when Axel pointed out, "Hey, look! It's Xion!" I looked at where he pointed, and his words were true. Xion was walking down the stairs from the third floor, clutching onto her books and notebooks.

Before turning her back on us, Axel snuck up on her saying, "Yo! Xion!" She jumped, as though she just snapped out of a trance.

After seeing that it was us, Xion gave a sheepish smirk, complaining, "Come on, guys! Don't do that!"

"Good to see you too, Xion," I said, grinning.

When the warning bell went off, Axel sighed, "Well, that's my cue. I'm handing him off to you, Xion. Make sure he don't get into any trouble, alright?"

As I glared at him, Xion nodded to him, saying, "Aye-aye, sir!" Axel grinned before he walked off to his class.

"Come on, Xion, before we're late!" I exclaimed as I grabbed her wrist and drug her back upstairs to our last class.

And yes, I'm using my French teacher's name. xD

Chapter 2

14:19.

Xion and I stared at the clock, as though it was a godly emblem. We were tapping our feet at an irregular rhythm. I couldn't blame us, though. One more minute, and we were free.

Then again, Xion's mom wasn't going to get us until 14:30. Oh well...

14:20.

Within the second, the bell went off. As the class emptied out, Xion and I were cheering in our seats. I noted that people were looking at us, but I didn't mind. We stood up and picked our stuff up, laughing.

"You two are acting like it's the last day of school," our French teacher, Ms. Echegaray remarked.

"We are?" Xion asked, slightly laughing.

"Oui," she said. "What's going on today?"

"There's a festival today," I explained. "We've been waiting forever to go to it."

"Ahh," she said understandingly. As Xion and I headed for the door. "Well, I hope you two have fun."

"Thank you," I said.

Behind me, Xion said, "Bonne journee!" Ms. Echegaray repeated the same phrase to her.

"Show-off," I remarked, smirking.

"I was only being nice, Roxas," Xion said.

We arrived at our lockers, which were side-by-side.

While we were unlocking the locks, Xion said, "I'm going to change into my back-up clothes. I heard that it was going to be hot today."

"It's only March," I pointed out, taking off my lock.

"Traverse Town is more south," Xion explained, "so I wouldn't be surprised if it's at least sixty degrees." After opening her locker, she pulled out a bag that contained clothes and replaced her books in the locker. As she shut the locker and locked it back up, she stated, "I'm going to change now. I'll meet up with you and Axel."

As she headed for the girls' restroom, I sat my books in my own locker before locking it up. After I closed my locker, I headed for the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs was Axel. He was wearing a sleeveless black hoodie that was trimmed with orange and white pants.

"Why did you change?" I asked him as I walked down the steps.

"I heard that it was going to get hot later on today," Axel explained. I almost lost my footing on the stairs.

Regaining balance, I sighed, "But it's March..."

"Don't you ever watch t.v., Roxas?" Axel laughed. When I got to the bottom of the stairs, he tossed a bag to me, saying, "Here."

I caught it as I asked, "What is it?"

"Change into it," Axel said. "I knew you were going to become oblivious, so I brought you a spare shirt."

"Gee, thanks," I said sarcastically as I began walking away.

"Where you going?" Axel asked.

I stopped to look back, raising an eyebrow. "I'm going to get changed."

"Oh, don't be a girl!" Axel said. "You can change your shirt out here." For a moment, I thought that he had lost his mind, but when I realized that he had been serious, I decided to do so before Axel would take drastic measures and change my shirt himself.

I took the shirt out of the bag. It was just a simple light blue button-up shirt with short sleeves. It even had a little breast pocket. I slipped off my long-sleeved hoodie so I could put the blue shirt on. I slid my arms through the sleeve holes and sat the shirt on my shoulders. As I began buttoning the bottom button first, I heard footsteps coming down the steps.

"Hey, Xion, you ready?" Axel asked the stairwell as I buttoned the second and third button. As I slipped on one more button, I caught a glimpse of Xion. She was wearing a sleeveless dark blue shirt that covered over some of her white capris.

When Xion noticed that I was looking at her, she looked over at the opposite wall, reddening, as she replied to Axel, "Y-yeah."

"What time is it?" Axel asked.

I checked the watch that was on my left wrist. "... 14:27," I stated.

"Let's go wait outside," Xion suggested. "Mom'll be here any minute."

As she suggested, we ventured for the front entrance. Axel slightly opened the door to check how it felt outside. It wasn't even warm, I'll tell you that much.

Not even a minute later, a car pulled up.

"Is that her?" I asked.

"Yep!" Xion said. She left the building and charged for the car. Axel and I followed behind her.

As Xion got in the back seat, Xion's mother, Tifa rolled down the passenger window, greeting, "Hey, boys."

"Hi," Axel and I replied at the same time. We climbed into the back seat as well. Of course, I got the middle seat, so I felt a bit cramped.

As I searched for the seatbelt (which, I believe, Xion was sitting on), Tifa asked, "So, how have you two been? I haven't seen you around the house lately."

"Well, you know," Axel replied as he easily put his seatbelt on, "school and whatnot."

As Xion put her seatbelt on, she realized that she was sitting on my lifeline. "Oops, sorry!" she mouthed as she lifted herself up and handed my seatbelt to me.

As I buckled myself in, Tifa said as she began driving, "I noticed that Xion hasn't been doing much around the house except play her video games and draw. You two seem to be her motivation for her chores!" As Tifa laughed, I noticed that Xion was staring outside the window, looking irritated and embarrassed.

"Who wouldn't be motivated by us?" Axel joked, poking Xion in the head. She swiped his hand away. Even though she still looked irritated, she slightly smiled.

"You know how to get there, right Xion?" Tifa asked.

"Yeah," Xion answered. "We were there last year. Remember?" Tifa looked really confused in the rearview mirror. Xion sighed, "Just take this street to the highway."

A few minutes of nothing but the engine's old snoring, Tifa mentioned, "Oh yeah! Axel, check under the seat, will you? There's some snacks for the trip there."

"Cool! Thanks!" Axel exclaimed. He pulled out a box that contained cola cans and sat it on my lap before pulling out a bag of potato chips.

"We should listen to the radio," I suggested.

As Tifa took my suggestion and turned the radio on, Xion called, "K102, please!" When Tifa changed to that desired station, a song started playing. I was easily caught on by the lyrics.

Remember those walls I built?

Well, baby they're tumbling down

And they didn't even put up a fight

They didn't even make a sound

I found a way to let you in

But, I never really had a doubt

Standing in the light of your halo

I got my angel now

It's like I've been awakened

Every rule I had you breakin'

It's the risk that I'm taking

I ain't never gonna shut you out!

Everywhere I'm looking now

I'm surrounded by your embrace

Baby, I can see your halo

You know you're my saving grace

You're everything I need and more

It's written all over your face

Baby, I can feel your halo

Pray it won't fade away

I can feel your halo

I can see your halo

I can feel your halo

I can see your halo

Halo, ooh ooh.....

A couple of hours later, I was drinking my third cola can. Axel was pigging down on the potato chips. Xion fell asleep against the window.

I looked up ahead and saw several tents in an open grass area. Sure enough, we were here.

Moreeeeeeeeeeee :D
