Naruto SD: Rock Lee and his Ninja Pals

Posted

(Note: I don't know if any mods would decide to merge this with the regular Naruto discussion, but I believe that SD is a separate series, and I would like for it to have a separate topic if possible. Thanks!)

So, there's a certain spin-off series that's kinda lived in infamy for a while now. A lot of Bleach fans rejected it for taking Bleach's time slot (Even going to the point where they said it replaced Bleach. I'm not saying all fans were like that, though), and Naruto fans called it dumb often. However, I loved this series. If you couldn't tell by the title which one it is:

Yes, Naruto SD: Rock Lee and his Ninja Pals. The completely ridiculous spin-off of Naruto Shippuden. I'm not sure how many people on here actually liked it, but I wanted to see if there was anyone else. Honestly, I don't see it as just a silly side series. It was one of the things I looked forward to seeing every week. It was one of the first anime I started watching near the time it started, and I stuck with it all the way. It could cheer me up when I was feeling down. Even when I was already in a good mood, it just made things more fun. I didn't take it seriously, I took it for what it was: A humorous story to enjoy to the side. From Yamato's cameos, to Lee's hilarious skits, and everything in-between  the show never failed to make me laugh. I was really upset when I learned it had ended. It seems strange to get sentimental over a comedy series, but it was a major part of my weeks for a year, and it was a shame to see it end. I was hoping that the joke episode preview at the end of the last episode was serious, but it wasn't. I'd love to see it continued again at some point, or maybe even a new side series started. However, Naruto SD was still an excellent series.

So, I was curious if there are any other fans on here? We can use this thread as a discussion for it.

Now that it's ended, I should get caught up. :)

Yeah, now would be a great time! Which episode did you end off at, out of curiosity? By the way, I'm actually thinking about re-watching it over Summer, after I finish re-watching Sword Art Online. I love the series way more than I probably should. xD

Yup.

Oh, all the memories. I loved all those scenes, the last one and Sai's questions were probably the best ones though. xD

Oh. ._. Well, just to let you know, Naruto SD keeps getting better as it goes on. The start is good, but not nearly as good as later episodes. Also, SAO's another great series, it's my favorite anime ever (Barely beat out Naruto for that, heh.) I'd recommend both! :D

Kick ass!

Btw, is there news of whether or not SAO is getting the English Dub anytime soon? How about SD?

SAO's English Dub should start fairly soon, I heard they showed the first two episodes at a recent anime convention, so I'm pumped to get to watch it all from the start again. Of course, I'll probably end up re-watching subbed before dubbed gets out anywhere. xD I don't know that SD will get an English dub though. I don't think it took off all that well, and some of the jokes relied on the Japanese language, making some of them a little confusing to people like me that don't know Japanese. It'd be interesting to see how they'd change it if they do dub it, though.

Sweet. Do you know the voice actors who appeared in the episodes?

Also, don't worry about the English dub translating Japanese oriented jokes. That's been been done before. Very well, I might add. :)

(Gotta look this up) "Bryce Papenbrook, who played leads in Aniplex's Durarara! and Blue Exorcist, is Kirito, while Cherami Leigh, who you might know as Fairy Tail's Lucy, plays Asuna." - http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2013/04/08/video-sword-art-online-english-dub-trailer

So, I guess those are the two that we know of so far. I'm sure we'll find out the rest at some other point.

Oh, maybe they will dub it at some point, probably not until the English dub catches up to Naruto's training with Bee though, since it started at around that point in Japan. Also, the 3DS game still had Japanese dialogue, so I'm still not sure that they'd dub it. I'd watch it again either way, honestly. I could probably watch some episodes 10+ times and not get tired of them. xD

Pa-pa-pa-pa-PA-pa-PAPENBROOK?! SOLD! :D (I don't really care for Fairy Tail anymore, but eh, Cherami's cool too)

Someday... Somehow...

Someday... Somehow...

I've actually never seen any of Papenbrook's work, so this'll be a first for me. I've seen Fairy Tail, but Asuna's voice sounds so different from Lucy's. ._.

And when that day comes, I'll have my excuse to watch the whole series all over again. :D

Papenbrook's a beast. Just Saiyan.

Hopefully, Sasuke's Brother won't screw it up for us.

"Hey, Firaga and Axel, the new English Dub for SAO is out."

Yay...

"But I bought all the DVDs for it."

NO.....

With the resulting depression, I think I'd be able to challenge him to an emo-off, and stand a chance. Maybe I'd win back the DVDs then! :D

F**KING DO IT. xD

Will do.  ^_^

Also, gotta love how quickly this thread went off topic. xD As much as I love both series, I'm not sure that this is the place to have discussions about SAO. Isn't there a discussion thread for that one, too?
