I've been hearing many good things about Persona, and the Shin Megami Tensei series , so i was wondering if you guys can shed some light about how good or bad the series is. Im intrigued by it, so i figured this place was the best to ask for opinions on that game series. :)

Persona series is one of the best Shin Megami Tensei sub series and definitely must buy for JRPG fans.

Persona 3 and 4 are really good games, but if you can, checking Persona 1 and 2 is good idea as well but getting those two might be tricky.

What can I say, amazing story line, one of the best soundtracks in games, cool art style, some unique gameplay ideas, lot of stuff to do. One playthrough can easily take at least 70 hours, even if you don't complete game 100 %.

3 and 4 especially have quite annoying tutorials in beginning so the starting might not be the most exciting thing.

plus the series have animes-Persona 3 Trinity Soul,

Persona 4: Animation-the animation follow the game storyline, and when you too lazy to play with the game, you must watch this :D

The Persona 3+4 has a meeting in the Persona fighthing game, in the Persona 4 Arena(or P4 Mayonaka TV Arena)

You can find the persona games in: PS1:Persona 1, 2,

                                                         PS2:Persona 3, FES(the 3+the 3 story countinued)4,

                                                         PS3:Persona 4 Arena +(FES ps2 emulator)

                                                         PSP:Persona, Persona 2 Innocent Sin,Eternal Punishment, Persona 3 Portable,

                                                         PSVITA:Persona 4 Golden.

Every game has amazing soundtrack, music, awesome voice actors, interesting story, funny characters. The Persona 1-2 is darker, and has dark-mystery style, the Persona 3-4 is colorful, but can be serious and funny in same time. The games are hardcore, you must collect demons/monsters/gods in cards, and you must combinate they to get a better card. The Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Arena like a visual novell with fighting parts.

I hope you got now a little information :D

P4 GOLDEN TRAILER

I've got a little experience with both Persona and the mainline Shin Megami Tensei RPGS, so I'll explain what I can.

EDIT: Yikes, thats a lot of writing! Sorry for the info overload. xD

Persona is a spin-off/subseries of Shin Megami Tensei. Like SMT, the games are Turn Based RPGs. Persona uses a battle system that is based off of the one used in the more modern mainline SMT games. The focus of the system is to exploit the enemies weaknesses in hopes of gaining extra turns for your character. The enemies have access to the same feature, which means they can gain extra turns by exploiting your weaknesses. The dungeons have randomly generated layouts on most floors, though some will have a set layout. However, in Persona 3 and 4, the dungeon crawling is only half the experience. The other half plays like a life/dating simulator. You'll spend your time going to school (no, it doesn't take too long and isn't as boring as real life) and hanging out with friends. There are various things to do around town as well. You can choose to spend time with other characters (including characters from you party as well as NPCs) and work to increase your Social Link Levels. All of the have their own side stories, and this is where most of the character development takes place as well. Increasing your SLs also aids in the RPG portion of the game, your party members will gain abilities and you will get bonuses when fusing new personas to use.

Mainline SMT is pure RPG. It's battle system and exploration are more fleshed out (as they are the main focus of the game). The dungeons have definitive layouts, which also means they are generally more interesting to explore. The battle system is like I described above, though it works differently and is a bit more involved. These games are well known for their unforgiving difficulty. In addition, you could consider them to be more "old-school". In general, battles take place from a first person perspective and utilize sprites. Exploration of dungeons will be in first or third person depending on the game. Your party is comprised of demons that you convince to join your party through negotiations. The storyline and humor in these games are very mature and dark.

The music in both series is very good. Both also share some monster designs. Though the method with which you obtain demons/personas is different, the fusion of demons/personas is a major feature of both series and is pretty much essential to continue in the games. SMT is the main series in the Megami Tensei franchise, while Persona and others (like Devil Survivor) are spin-offs.

Both series are great. I'd definitely recommend trying them out. I've only actually played Persona 4 and Shin Megami Tensei IV (I've played P4 Arena as well, but that's a fighting game spin-off), but both of them are fantastic.
