Wii U Basic Set No Longer Sold In Stores

Posted

It appears as though a number of high-profile retailers have completely stopped stocking the Wii U 8GB Basic package. Whether the stores are discontinuing reordering stock as the console isn’t selling as well as they had hoped remains to be seen. There was also rumour a few months back that suggested that Nintendo were scrapping the Basic pack and introducing the 32GB Premium pack as the main model, but this has yet to materialise.

The Wii U is a flop. Maybe. Probably not.

Lets hope for the best for this console.

Nintendo has lately adopted the strategy of making the console first, and the games later. The original Wii even suffered from a lack of decent titles for about a year, but its motion control managed to give mass appeal.

The problem with the Wii U is that people have seen tablets before. To the public the Wii U just looks like a tablet you can connect to your TV. We all know its more but most people don't.

Then actual gamers aren't very excited due to the lack of a lot of AAA games. Then there's the fact that the system's hardware was outdated two years before it even came out, which is unappealing to both developers and gamers.

While I actually do like the Wii U, I can't imagine it lasting more than three or four years. It just won't stay competetive against the Xbox One and PS4, and both of those are going to have trouble competing with the increasingly growing PC market.

The big three need to change their attitude about gaming. Sony and Microsoft need to cut out all the bullshit, and Nintendo had to pick up the pace or I fear console gaming will be dead by 2020
