What do you think is the worst FF game?

Note: IVE ELIMINATED SAYING XIII(and its sequels) AS A CHOICE FROM THIS THREAD BECAUSE ALOT OF PEOPLE ON HERE HATE IT DUE TO ITS LINEARITY, SO I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS THINK IS THE WORST FF GAME BESIDES XIII(and its sequels).

For me, i'd have to be XII.

You might not have enjoyed it, but I found the characters to be well developed, the story to be amazing and the best of the FF franchise, and Kefka to be a great villain. His Magicite enhancements caused him to go completely insane, I'm probably gonna get told off by some Batman fans since I have no knowledge of the series, but I think that's similar to the Joker. As for the world, I personally thought it was really well done. I could honestly say everything you said about VI about VII. It's all personal preference.

i liked the narrative, atmosphere, and gameplay. And having a moogle as a party member is the best thing ever. few characters got screen time(edgar, celes, terra, locke, sabin, celes) But not enough. And every other character was just kind of thrown at you and got little to no development at all. Also besides a little on the 6 part, im not being biased. I could write a whole page full of valid reasons people love 7

Sure, not every character was developed equally, but I really liked all of them. They all had their own personality, and I liked that. Also, I could do the same for reasons why I don't think 7 is all that great. :/

I think the reason most people(such as myself) love final fantasy VII so much is because it was the first time that there was a game that was like really a long, complex, high budget movie. The sidequests and characters are amazing. I can admit that i loved the world of ruin and i know this was plot related and is mostly nitpicking but i hated scavenging for all of my characters in the second half of the game. Celes was the only character in the game that i really thought was a great character(besides mog of course) and was the only character in the game that i really felt for.But i can see why people would like the characters in 6. I think that's one of the reasons why I didn't like 7 as much. I like having a lot more input into my games, not just sitting through hours of cutscenes. I didn't really care for the characters/plot much either, so it just seemed kinda boring to me. I really liked having to find everyone again, it added more to the game, and it felt great when all the hard work paid off in the end.

i know this is completely unrelated but, while i like the spritework for final fantasy 6, The stuck together polygon characters looked a lot more unique to me. Its fun seeing what developers can do with the limitations of a system. I liked how i didnt have to see a facial expression or read dialogue to understand what they were feeling. also if the crossdressing part was anything but stuck together polygons, it would have been creepy instead of funny

Eh, I don't really judge games based on graphics (I'll sometimes avoid a game based on art style, but not graphics), but I do think that the polygons weren't all that bad. They should've just stuck with that style. I know that the setting of VIII was meant to be more realistic, but it kinda bugged me being able to see each individual pixel on a character. I'll also say that while the character models for FFVII looked pretty good, the background/foreground elements were one of my issues with the game. They blended together too well, and I had a lot of moments when I couldn't tell if I could or couldn't walk on a certain surface, which got annoying.

Also about the limitations thing, I'd have to agree. Developers get really lazy when they have hardly any limitations, and usually put too much of a focus on making it a movie with a few button pushes than a game. :/

The FF X-2, it was a bad idea from the beginning, the magical girl transformations, the absurd of the story, and worst of all Tidus doesn't appear till the very end of the game (I played it for nothing <_< )
