Concerning FFXIII-2's Characters and Story *spoilers*

Posted

So, I have finished XIII-2 the main game. I was thinking about the characters and what not. I could not help but to think that it felt kind of empty in the FFXIII character department. I wish that the game would have expanded more on everyone and where they went. For example, you could see Hope visit the pillar, the emotional tribulations he went through after, and his journey at the academy, Sazh and Dahj (I know there is a DLC) but you know other stuff, Snow's travels (outside the SW and coliseum), more Lightning. I understand that there are the Fragments after but still....

I like Noel, Yeul, and Caius; however, they could have (don't kill me) done without Yeul. Hear me out. I think she is beautiful and cool. The idea of her is odd. I honestly did not know that she and Noel had feelings for each other. I saw it more on a sibling level. Continuing on. Why be able to see the future but not be able to change it? Who is she? What? If she has this special ability, why is Serah able to have it too? I feel that it would make more sense that they could have made Caius omnipotent and have Etro's eyes and heart of chaos and be the leader of the farseers who grew tired of forever and wanted to get rid of it. He could see the future but was immortal but the visions wouldnt kill him because he would be immortal. Noel could be the successor if he would kill Caius inheriting his heart and Etro's eyes. My theory has a lot of holes.

TL:DR While playing the game, I felt like the new trio was hard to catch on to. It did not feel like a follow up to explain where is everyone now.

Thoughts?

i agree that for some of the original characters their story sort of lagged. Hope was just like "with this we can save Vanille and Fang" and that was pretty much it. We dont really get much on Snow besides that he is fighting, heck maybe we could even had gotten something on Vanille and Fang while they were in the pillar, but we didnt really get much. Hopefully we will get more in Lighting Returns. I think Yeul was included to give Caius more of an emotional reason to do what he is doing. I also think that giving Serah the eyes of Etro and killing her off at the end was unneeded. She got those eyes apparently because she was touched by the goddess or something. Maybe Lightning has to do with it because she was fighting for the Goddess. As far as the storyline goes however, i think they could have done without it.

Go to this thread. Those books explain more about what happened to Snow and it elaborates more on the plot ends.

Serah did kinda need to die, for the plot in LR FF XIII. If she was alive, Noel and Snow wouldn't be fighting Lightning, and there'd be more conflict. And she's the reason that Lightning's becoming the savior, so she can save Serah. So it WAS NEEDED. I still wish she hadn't died though. :(

actually the story could have taken a different turn. Serah needed to die for the specific story of Lightning Returns, but if she didnt die then any number of things could have happened. It just depends on what the story writer wanted.

Why did Lightning need Serah in Valhalla anyway? Was it to fight Caius?

True, she did need to die for the specific story, but if she didnt, it would be a bit different.

Well Serah wanted to go to Valhalla to find Lightning there, but they were supposed to fight Caius in Academia 500 AF. And they did, but then he fled to Valhalla since he was losing.

i mean in the beginning when Lightning sends Noel to go get Serah. I just sort of found it random and if they explained it in the story then i dont remember.

I have read those. What I mean is more in game interaction on these points. If only more of that content was in the game. A lot was left unsaid.

Agreed, alot was left unsaid.

She wanted him to find Serah so together they could fix the timeline. xD
