Well I've been wondering about this for a long time and I've noticed this in the games. Well the hearts shape. The first one is pink and sparkly and is actually shaped like a heart and the other one is a ball of shinning light. Does square enix keep changing the design or do they each represent something? I'm thinking that the shinning ball of light heart is a heart of pure light and the one actually shaped like a heart is normal. Idk What do you think?

yh i think the same as you the hearts were pure light so they appered as pure light snd the pink shiny ones are hearts with hints of darkness

Agreed. IIRC, the hearts of pure light all resembled the Cornerstone of Light. All the regular hearts were just pink crystal hearts.

Yeah... I don't think so, the heart-shaped hearts come from heartless, (I think nobodies too?) and the hearts from people are those shining orbs, cause...

when Master Xehanort lost his heart, his heart came out as an orb, and in no way his heart is of pure light

 

Not only that but in KH1 when Sora lost his heart, it was in the shape of the orb, and his heart isn't of pure light, the only pure hearts are the ones from the princesses, which came out separately from Sora's.

 

So I gotta disagree with that, unless I'm wrong of course.
